@@guiille_3662 Big Mike says usually just catch your breath then proceed to another exercise or set. He also even mentioned that it’s better for your cardiovascular system to keep the heart rate high instead of resting longer between sets letting your heart slow down just to turn it back on again.

@@guiille_3662 enough to catch your breath. First Movements (Leg Extension & Leg Press) should be treated as a superset with very minimal rest. Leg press to hamstring curls you can catch your breath. 1-2 minutes.

I used that machine several times back in the 1980s and it was one of a kind, the cam was configured to make the weight much heavier the more your legs got to straightening out, where they are the strongest. Definitely the best leg press machine ever invented.

It's super taxing on multiple levels. HOWEVER, after a few months, your neurological adaptations make it much easier to then just focus on perfecting form and progressive overload over time.

For me, mentzer heavy duty really suits my goal. I can recover properly and come back stronger for the short & intense around 30mins workout. 3 - 4 days btw workout, i can do my swim/bike /run training. (i'm doing triathlon as an age grouper). can train for both my endurance events and keep my musle/strength at the same time.

I’d love to see a study done with like 50 sets of same gendered twins. 25 twins train with more volume and high intensity. While the other 25 trained with the Mentzer approach. I wonder how the results my vary

i think studies on this wont work. 99% of the people you will meet, even in the gym with great progress are mentally not able to push to the absolute limit let alone untrained newbee folks for a study

I dont train like mike but i sure did cut back alot. No more 5 to 6 times a week that was killing my gains. Always sore always in pain didnt grow much. Now training 3 times max a week and i am feeling alot stronger and if grown alot compared to 5/6 times a week. And NO MORE PAIN!!!

After the warm up set which is on the leg press cuz it warms up all the leg muscles. It’s 1 set for each exercise 1set of leg extension then immediately go back to leg press do 1 set then take a few minutes of a break then do 1 set of hamstring curl then immediately got calve raise do 1 set

I just did the chest day today is leg day after my rest days. My chest is still feeling the workout, I use to work out ever other day or 4 straight and 3 off. I can easily get a six pack and look cut, but I want size.

Hey John, thank you for uploading these. I'm reviewing this video before Leg Day based on the ideal program from another video. The Exercises match entirely except for the addition of the hamstring curl (& Lat Pullovers for chest and back day 1). Seeing as this was Mike's most recent presentation of his ideal split, is it acceptable to add the hamstring curl & lat Pulldowns demonstrated in this DVD? (Of course, accounting for additional recovery, keeping track of strength, and avoiding additional inroads)

He’s saying that the body is a closed hydraulic system. Meaning, that if you grip the handles on a machine too tightly, it restricts blood circulation, causing a buildup and increase in blood pressure. This is something to be avoided.
