Mike mentzer king of hypertrophy training
@benpaul64543 жыл бұрын
Been following this style of training for the last few weeks and have had amazing results. I get better results in two sessions per week than when I did 5!!! As a natural lifter I feel this protocol works much better than the high volume which is clearly better for enhanced lifters and which I stupidly stuck to my whole life. Can’t believe more people don’t train like this...

even when an bodybuilder athlete is enhanced, it will be always better to do high intensity training.
@user-cp7yw3lh5s11 ай бұрын
actually the enhanced bodybuilder should less workouts and take more rest as its easier for them to get overtrained
@benjaminnurmentaus423211 ай бұрын
@@user-cp7yw3lh5s yes but an enhanced athlete does recover faster than a natural athlete. Enhanced athletes just might overtrain more than a natural one because they think they can go to the gym every day which is obviously not true even though they recover faster than a natural athlete. And you also need to understand the fact that on anabolics it is more fun to train when you are pushing heavier weights so that encourages to train more often.

@@GeorgeForeman. NGL, it appeared a bit cringe seeing my comment from a year ago, but let me enlighten you about what I know regarding the events at that time. Mike was building his personal training business at Gold's Gym, and over the next few years, his progress was steady and impressive. Since 1999, Mike’s younger brother Ray had been on kidney dialysis, waiting for a transplant. Mike offered to be the donor, but doctors found a serious heart problem that ruled him out. This meant Ray had to wait longer, and in response, Mike moved in to take care of him. On June 9, 2001, the brothers were working on their new training DVD called HIT (High Intensity Training), which is the video I’m commenting on below. After a long, tiring day, Ray went to bed, but Mike stayed up late, pushing himself despite his heart condition. Ray was worried about him, knowing the risks, but Mike wouldn’t listen. Finally, as exhaustion set in, Mike decided to get some sleep. The next morning, on June 10, 2001, Ray found his brother had passed away in his sleep from a heart attack at the age of 49. Heartbroken, Ray had to handle the funeral arrangements. Just two days later, on a Tuesday morning, Joanne Sharkey, the general manager of Mike's business, got a call from Ray’s dialysis unit. He hadn’t shown up for his appointment. When she went to his apartment, she discovered Ray had also passed away at the age of 47, just days after losing his brother. Taken from another video based on the topic.

@@filipnajev8449 Thank you. May I ask for advice/feedback. I started HIT doing 1-3 sets(3 different exercises) beyond failure about two months ago. Because I am going beyond failure(negative reps after failure) I am finding it very difficult to do more (progressive overload) the next time I do the same body part. I am probably waiting 1.5 weeks before doing the same body part again so I am allowing plenty of rest. I feel that because I am murdering my muscle beyond failure, it’s just so hard to murder it more than last time when I do that body part again. Have you experienced that? I just feel like if I cannot either increase the reps or weight, then I am not progressing like i should. Making me wonder if I should go back to my traditional training? 44 year old advanced lifter. How can I grow if I cannot progressive overload each workout? I was able to add weight/reps each week when I did traditional workout 3 times/week. Thanks in advance

Hey i wanna ask you how does mike workout for 30min when he does like 1 set till failure?im confused on this part and still didnt figure it out
@svenltd8 ай бұрын
@@mistywoods6560 Mike Mentzer preached to usually take atleast 4 seconds per repetition in order to assure that pure isolation and stress is placed on the muscle your training. No explosive reps and occasional holds (for example: at the end of a set on the last rep for as long as possible or just short holds in between the set for 4-6 seconds) on the positive movement of the excersise and slower negatives. If you train with such an intensity the average individual will need more rest time between sets. Mentzer said to only rest as long as you feel to as your muscles aren't dictacted by a clock it should be done by feel. All tho if you rest far to short in between then you could just guide yourself by taking 4-5 good breaths through the nose and don't forget to drink carbonated mineral water in workouts for the CO2. Including all of this in a workout which usually should consist of no more than 4 excerises will definitely pump up the length of the workout. Bodybuilding isn't about endurance but intensity and effort. It does not matter if your workout is only 20 minutes as long as your upmost focus is set on actually building muscle then you will make progress.
@MarketDaemon6 ай бұрын
Start each exercise with 1-3 warmup sets, really low weight, only to go through the motions and get warmed up in the muscles. Then do your 1 and only working set with a weight that allows for the technique and duration you saw in this video. Lastly, only 1 or 2 exercises per muscle, that is how you get it done so quickly.@@mistywoods6560 Oh, and the working set needs to be taken to momentary failure like mentioned in the video, you really need some grit to pull it through

if you think about it it makes sense.. the body is a brilliant machine, it will ONLY rebuild its structure under HEAVY stress and if it has a big reason, the main focus is always to maintain energy (so we dont starve easily) by pushing to the absolute max and beyond, the body MUST increase muscle growth to prevent injury the 4-6 days rest give enough time to make it sustainable and give the body time to regenerate

Hi, I have a question : Does rep speed matter if the end result is the same i.e. A certain amount of tut to failure ? So if I do 30 reps for 2 second reps will it give the same results as doing 10 reps for 6 second reps ? Thanks, cheers.
@JayVincentFitness3 жыл бұрын
If carried to true muscular failure, yes. The difference is that 30 reps for 2 seconds is far less efficient since you are not generating continuous load on the targeted muscle area. Moving that quickly recruits momentum to assist the movement and disengages the muscle tissue. also, moving quickly will generate higher peak forces which risks injuring connective tissue. The purpose of moving slowly is time efficiency and safety, which for some reason people dont care about when it comes to exercise but they care about it in almost every other aspect of live. Mind boggling.

@@JayVincentFitness Since posting the question I have learned that it was called the Pullover/Torso Arm machine. Also, I understand that the late Arthur Jones considered it the upper body equal of the barbell squat for building size and strength in its respective region of the body. Thanks for your reply.
@macectoman Жыл бұрын
@@JayVincentFitness The PureHIT2008 site has a video in which a middle-aged - but exceptionally strong - male trainee starts the Pullover exercise and then immediately proceeds to the Torso Arm; then, with no rest, he quickly walks to the Nautilus Double Chest and begins the Arm Cross; after his last rep he uses the foot pedal to access the handles for the Decline Press; after he reaches failure he walks quickly to the Compound Leg and begins Leg Extensions; he takes those to failure and again without rest, pulls down the movement pads for the Leg Press and- incredibly - uses the entire weight stack for a final set of 10 reps! The entire workout takes slightly less than 6 minutes.
