When i was in college in asia, i often skipped classes or slept during lectures. I ended up failing the test and had to retake one. I procrastinated until the last 3 days and able to stuff the whole semester worth of text books in my head, passed the test with high score. While other buddies cheered me on, one of my classmate asked me with :”so you had to do it anyway, why didn’t you just do it right from the beginning?”. It’s like a slap of reality and a total wake up call for me.

@@kdv9831 i used goofy drawing to memorize the text. Nothing fancy, just stick figures and made up symbols. It helped turn the text into fun story so i could memorize it with just one go. The only problem was cram everything in in such a short time, once the test was over, everything seems to wipe off the brain instantly. I don’t recommend this unhealthy procrastination and cramming, it works to get you pass the test, but you gain no real knowledge in the end. I truly regret wasting my time in college not learning.

Summary: Focus on high yield concepts. 80/20 rule, 80 percent of test questions are on 20 percent of core concepts. Use high return strategies - avoid passive studying, mindless note taking. Do not brute force cram info. Utilize practice tests, flash cards etc. find patterns and connections. Get sleep. Eat enough, drink enough water.

CRAMMING ⭐ do not need to go through EVERY DETAIL 1. focus on 20% -- the core concepts 2. learn those knowledge you can understand quickly ⭐ high return study 1. practice problems (understand concept) 2. make connections (patterns, similarities and differences) ⭐ take strategic breaks 1. Pomodoro technique (study 45mins, rest 10mins) 2. SLEEP 3. snack through the day (fruit, chocolate...) one week before my IB finals good luck !!!!!!

Don't aim for high score, just think that you have to pass the exam and then give your all in these 12 hours. Whatever the result comes, I am damn sure you will do much better than just the passing marks.. if you will strategize well and follows these tips, you can definitely make it in the remaining time. Best of luck.. you are gonna make wonders in your exam. 🙂👍❤️

This is pretty much the way to actually study anything, excluding time pressure and lesser exposure to theories. We just need consistency. A couple of hours a day for 3 - 4 months of this strategy, can take your far ahead.
@lillysummeroriginals1213
@lillysummeroriginals1213 Жыл бұрын
I agree and you don’t need to cram to be able to utilize that. Another study method is called 13579 method. Basically if you have three or four months before the exam you study every nine days then seven days then five days then three days then one day before. That doesn’t take three or four months but you could repeat the studying every nine days for a bit and then the one off that depending on how much time you have. There goes the day you don’t need to study every single day especially if you’re far out but reviewing your concepts at least once every 1 1/2 weeks is going to be good. That way you can make sure you have all of your concept down solid before the test. you could also use this time to prioritize what you don’t understand if you have a lot of time to work with. Hope this can help someone

What I do when I have 3 days for a test ( and not revised) is simply get a whiteboard and blurt out the highest priority topics/areas. I do this until I can do it from memory. Then, the morning before the exam, I will blurt and be confident. Confidence is really important. If you convince yourself you understand something, you are more likely to get it.

These are the notes I took throughout the video! I hope this helps: **Step 1: Focus on the high-yield concepts** - Figure out what's most important to study - Not all information is created equal Criteria 1: Is this concept high-yield 💡 Ask the teacher what to focus on → If given vague answers, use the 80/20 rule 80% of classes are tested on 20% of the core concepts Ask yourself: - What was the main point of the lecture? - How does it relate to the main point of other lectures? Criteria 2: Can I easily learn this concept? If the concept is unfamiliar: 💡Read the summary or wrap up - Can I learn this concept without spending the entire day? No? Teach back the main idea from the chapter summary in your own words **Step 2: Use High Return Strategies** 💡 Avoid passive studying "Mere Exposure Effect”: where we tend to develop preferences for things that are familiar to us. 1. Use practice problems (Be strategic) 2. Learn the thought process 💡 See if you can think about how to change the wording of the question so that another answer choice is correct. 3. Use strategic memorization Make connections between the concepts - Patterns - Similarities - Differences Differentiate > Understand their relationship 4. Take strategic breaks 💡 Use HIIT (high-intensity interval training) - Study goal → Break (Pomodoro) **Step 3: Maintain high energy studying** How to keep up your energy: 1. Don't pull an all-nighter! 💡 Go to bed for 6 hours, wake up early and study 2. It's okay to skip meals, but don't skip food altogether. - Snack throughout the day (Pick those that are nutrient-dense) - Stay hydrated 3. Be careful with your caffeine intake - Call it quits after 4 pm

Does 2 hours before also work? Let’s find out (I’ll update after the test) Update: the history test actually went quite well! All I did is making a timeline of all the events and then researched the importance and connections between a all events and how they influenced each other! Now we wait for the grade and see if it actually worked… Okay so results are back. It’s not high but it’s a sufficient grade. It’s a 59% what’s not a lot but in the Netherlands you have to get a 55% to pass 65% and higher is considered really smart

My main way to cram exams is to stand up, act like a teacher, and say all of the info that I have remembered in class. I will now check my notes and if I didn't say some of the info I said, I would focus on that particular subject and would repeat this over and over. I mastered this and now I practically get 1-6 mistakes every exams. Most of the mistakes are from things that the teacher didn't teach or didn't put it in the pointers.

When I took the school-administered mock exam I got a low 4 because I wasn't able to answer most of the FRQ questions but now that I practiced I was able to score some solid 5s on my practice exams. Of course, it's not over yet since I have to cram for the AP Physics 1 exam this Thursday and I have other tests next week and other major assignments.

Thank you so much . I have my maths board exams in next 2 days . I was so nervous and feeling guilty for doing this:( After seeing so many people struggling the same thing , I feel relaxed that I'm not the only one . I think I can do it now ^^ I'll update how it went , remind me UPDATE!!! I'm actually happy :) that I just wanted to pass the exam but after exam I am confident that I will score more than average ^^ ( as someone who fear maths :_) , yk how that feels ) So moral ? It doesn't matter how much time you have right now . Just start giving your best from now and you'll survive :) . Also focus on imp topics. Width >> depth ( for exams )

Well I am about to say may not be useful for people who are already cramming but my best tip is don’t cram. I feel like that will allow you to enjoy studying and learning more. You should try the 13579 message. There are videos on KZfaq about it but I will quickly summarize it right now. Nine days before your exam you study and you do a good study session and review everything. Then seven days before you repeat then five days work for European again and then three days before you repeat again. Then finally on the day before your exam you repeat again. During the sessions you make sure though it’s not just a quick five minutes you make sure you review all your concepts. If you have more time you could do this by week’s event and start nine weeks before if able. Hope this can help someone. Keep in mind I am legally blind and so is this with hard to read I apologize

1. 80/20 principle What is the main concept of this chapter and how does it relate to the concepts of other chapters. Figure out the big picture. 2. Can I easily learn this concept? (High yielding topics) Q/A, youtube videos -- general understanding if short on time. 3. Do active studying and slow down -- Use practice problems and try to solve them with understanding the concepts behind it. Learn the thought process. Tip - Changing wording in question so that other answer choice is correct. For maths, use guided solutions. 4. Use strategic planning - find connections - patterns, difference, similarities, relationship, trends. 5. Take breaks (pomodoro) clearly defined goals and breaks. Super high effort = uncomfortable = learning is happening. Sleep, eat food, hydrate, low on caffeine to have high energy throughout the study sessions.

Always have problem with studying since I was student at elementary. Bored at class, cannot routinely study every night, struggle to study in a long time. It shaped me to be a person who dislike memorizing and other related study. Then, I choose Math as my major. Which is, damn... it's to abstract but I love it. Never had notes, only came to class for the lesson, and desperately trying to understand the lesson before the exam. I feel like my choice was right to choose math as major because i love it. After few years, I'm working full time, then one time we had a test from the company. Turns out I have ADHD, and that's why I have problem with studying. But glad, I know it just now, so it was not become my alibi on why i sucks in studying.

Feels like this video is a direct message from the universe to me! I _just_ crammed for my Physics exams till 3:30am. (It was okay, not truly horrible but I could have done a lot better). I've been doing the same thing for the past few exam sessions, studying within one or two days. I haven't watched the video yet, but I'll update the comment as I go. 0:00 Man, that intro really got me. I'm in the _exact_ same situaton. Procrastinate till a few days before the exams, get worried and start to study, then get distracted and procrastinate. Then beat myself up mentally... and proceed to procrastinate some more. It's like you've been spying on my life 👀 0:35 Definitely true! That's how I still top my class despite studying the night before. Teachers also help us out, usually, and tell us what's important during the lectures themselves: so you've got to pay some attention in class. If you focus on those topics, you can get decent enough marks. 1:45 Yes, I started doing this recently. Up until class 10 my syllabus was such that I could cram most of the stuff in a few hours, but now, even if I really do study well for a few days, it might not be enough to fully understand everything. Some stuff is complex too. So I first finish up the concepts I already know well or which are relatively easy, and then move on to the more difficult ones. 5:13 This part is interesting. I know I'm supposed to take breaks, but I also know that if I start, instead of 10 minutes I'll be on my phone for who knows how long. It's hard to control myself... Plus, I often feel very sleepy during studying, it's hard to beat that sleep. Yesterday even after drinking coffee (which I nearly never drink), eating chocolate (unrelated but it makes _me_ feel more energized) and washing my eyes with cold water repeatedly, it was hard to keep my eyes open. (My sleep schedule has been in a very bad state recently.) I've heard 20 minute breaks are the best duration for a short nap, so I recently I've started doing that. It feels refreshing, more than I expect, so that's something I think I'll continue. As for regular breaks, I'm trying to implement them without getting too carried away. 6:35 H-hey! Sleeping 3 hours isn't pulling an all nighter, is it? 8:07 That's a pretty interesting idea! I suppose it isn't obvious because, well, cramming is usually associated with lots of uncomfortable things like force-feeding information and sleepless nights, but I wonder if it can actually work as a study strategy... I guess the thing would be to make sure there is no negative feelings associated with the study sessions, and to make cramming comfortable. I suppose I'll try that out. If you've read this far, thank you! It's my first time doing something like this, haha. Probably the longest comment I've ever written. Took me way too much time though. What are your experiences while studying? Positive, negative, useful or distracting, anything goes! I'd love to engage in a fun, productive conversation here. Thank you, Mike and Matty, for the useful video. I was proud to see I already followed some of these tips. Let's see what I can achieve with proper studying and all the rest of ideas. Have a wonderful week. ❤ (Also, did KZfaq suddenly change are to skip-in-3-seconds instead of 5 seconds? On this video I encountered ads like that. Well, cool.)

what really sucks here is that no matter how hard i study i never get it right :/ questions are always one hyperspecific point of the class and not only did i study everything else for nothing, i dont know enough about those precise 2 lines in a 150 pages course. i hate when they do that, it doesnt test anything, and it has been most of my finals this week (all failed).

Read the summaries and overviews of the chapters included in the exam. If there are "Introduction" videos linked for a chapter or topic, chances are, almost all of the concepts you need to know in those particular chapters/topics are briefly discussed in those introduction videos, so they're actually helpful for cramming and you don't have to linger too long in the text materials. If the lessons are text heavy, actually pinpoint/identify the key words or concept names and google them 😂 search results show the briefest explanations that can progress to more common complicated related questions, therefore expounding on the topic automatically for you; so you at least have an idea or impression about the concept idea. It's going to be superficial kind of knowledge, but it will make going through the course materials a little easier cuz you're already debriefed about them (at least, that's how it was for me for open distance learning with almast zero face to face or video rec'd lectures).
