The scientific reason for your moms success was pure hearted loving great people have a better bio electricity this is called chi by ancient Chinese or prana by Hindu or orgone or brill by Germans and American it's the earth and sun's energy you feel it when chills go up your back or hair stands up on arms during something emotional. Loving people transfers this to plants. I'm into Tai chi chigong and tebtian meditation tumo. This gave me control over energy so growing plants and healing them comes easier for me not to point of all starts working out but 6 out of 10 ain't that bad.

My grandmother had that ability also. She would not only root the tiniest of pieces, but grew them on and would give family and friends plants grown from generations of cuttings. She would never part with her original "baby sprig". I was in my thirties when she passed away and she had plants still growing that she'd cultivated when I was a child.

I always use tip cuttings and plant them close to the parent plant, never have a failure. I cut the very soft top off, strip off 5 inches of lower leaves leaving 2 pair of leaves which I cut in half. Long stems are essential. I have noticed all my cuttings do best near the parent plant. No hormones or humidity devices needed. Worth a try.

I've read many times that you should not dip plants in the rooting powder bottle but, instead, you put some powder in a small container and dip into that. This prevents infecting the rooting powder bottle with anything off of the cutting.

Blueberry bushes seem pretty indestructible. We planted some probably 5 years ago and when we had someone come and chip a bunch of bushes and trees down, they piled them directly on one of the bushes. It sat under about 3 feet of wood chips for almost a year until we spread them in the yard where we found just the main branch. Several months later it started growing leaves and now we have a full bush covered in berries 😄

I tested the timing of rooting blueberry cutting, in New England area, cut off top branches in early March while you have snow covered the yard and grow the cutting inside a room with 50 F degree actually gives the best result. The cutting wakes up in 4 days and starts to grow right after. You don't even need rooting powder, just insert it into a pot, cover them with a plastic bag and see the buds developing by themselves.

You want to take cutting in late spring at latest since you want the sap in them to keep them moist and healthy inside and that helps produce the roots. Dry or after berry cuttings will be harder to root.

I was taught that the best way to take cuttings is under water, because the xylem is under suction and you don’t want it to suck up any air when you make the cut, which can block the flow of water. Right after the cut, stand them up in a container of water. Finally, stick them into moist medium right after dipping them in the hormone powder.
@MikeKincaid79

Now that's an interesting idea and something I hadn't heard of. I'm going to have to put an experiment together on that one.

@@MikeKincaid79 Hey Mike. I learned this trick in grad school so there should be some research to back it up, but testing it in the real world is where the rubber meets the road. I forgot to mention that I usually add some rooting powder to the water in the container I have them standing in, as well. I haven’t tried rooting blueberries, but now I know what part of the shoot works best so I’ll give it a shot. It’s fun to learn, share our knowledge, and gift rooted cuttings to our friends. Peace.

Thank you for all of this information all of my blueberries died this winter but I had 21 cutting that I had wrapped up inside of a storage unit area and I had my incubators for my ducks and my baby geese in there and one of my fish tanks it kept the temperature in that room all winter at 68° every one of my blueberries transplanted at the beginning of the spring and already gave us blueberries and normally it takes 2 years from my understanding in the research to give us fruit. Even my pink lemonade blueberries gave us pink lemonade blueberries this year and they were amazing. And they're already blossoming and giving flowers and getting ready to give us another batch of blueberries. I've even used this hormone technique taking late-season blackberries and splicing them into the root base of an early-season Blackberry and now that my early season berries are going to the final stages of maturing and fruiting and falling off my late berries are blooming on the actual rootstock for the early berry BlackBerry plants. So to my understanding I guess the hormone is triggering my late berries to start shooting and blow branches and some of them are even starting to show signs of getting little flowers ready to bloom probably in another few weeks. So I've successfully hybridized and crossed two organic heirloom Blackberry species into one rootstock using this similar cloning technique for blueberries pretty f****** gnarly thank you😅😅😅😅 Garden the planet let's turn the planet into a giant Greenhouse oh wait we already are Under the Dome we live in a giant Greenhouse😅😅😅 let's just make it prettier with lots of more edible stuff to eat okay let's make it to where nobody has to ever go hungry again

I just the other day bought 15 Blueberry Plants, that were 3 to 4 foot tall in containers. Hammonton New Jersey is one of the largest producers in the country now being a horror culturalist for over 50 years always thought blueberries love nice organic soil. Well I learned from this grower, whose families been in the business over 100 years Blueberries don’t want compost mushroom soil rotted leaves. He told me for the best blueberries you want 50%sphagnum moss and 50% builder sand. When I used to live in New Jersey and had a nursery and landscape business I used to always always wonder man that part of Jersey is sand. Well you learn something new every day so especially if you’re growing in containers, 50%, 50% course builder sand slow release fertilizer or Holly tone

I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my father; and having seen many afflictions in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days; yea, having had a great knowledge of the goodness and the mysteries of God, therefore I make a record of my proceedings in my days. Yea, I make a record in the language of my father, which consists of the learning of the Jews and the language of the Egyptians. And I know that the record which I make is true; and I make it with mine own hand; and I make it according to my knowledge". 1 Nephi 1-3 Hello friends, I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The verses above are the first three verses in The Book of Mormon. I know this probably isn't the most ideal place to talk about religion but I really do want you to know that God loves you. You may not love Him or care about Him at all, but He still will continue to love you. You are a beloved son or daughter of God. He knows you personally and He truly and deeply desires for your happiness. He loves everyone who has every lived on this earth, with a perfect equal love regardless of their race, gender, ethnicity, faith and values and beliefs. The Lord loves you more than you can think or comprehend. "He inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile" 2 Nephi. He is our loving, caring Heavenly Father. We are literally His children and creations. When we were in the womb, he knew about us" Jerimiah 4:5. He knitted us and we were created in His image. I testify to you that you and I are not a mistake. He knows the very moment when we stand and when we sit. He is familiar with all our ways and knows us personally who we are. The hairs on our very head are numbered. God loved us so much, He sent His Only Begotten Son for us, that we may be able to return and dwell in the presence of God again. The Lord has not forgotten about us even when it feels like He has. He will never forsake us. When we are happy, He and His angels rejoice alongside us. When we are sad, He heals us and lifts us up from our trials. He has always been there for us. He has always been our loving, compassionate Heavenly Father and God. Will we always be His children and people? I testify to you that God lives and that Jesus is the Christ. Both love you exceedingly and rejoice when you are happy. They both love you so much. They love you with a love unfeigned. They will never ever stop doing good unto you. I know that The Book of Mormon is true. "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost". Moroni 10:4 I promise and testify to you, that if you will read The Book of Mormon, ponder on its message and ask God if it is not true, you will come to know of its truthfulness, whether its true or not true. Remember my friends that God loves you with all his heart, might mind, soul and strength. He wants you to be happy. He knows what you are going through and dealing with right now. We planted 2 Southern "Highbush" Blueberries var. "Woodard" on our Florida property (Zone 9b) ~30 years ago. They have grown to be 9' tall and equally wide EACH, producing loads of delicious fruit every year. They also have sent underground runners throughout the adjacent area to create our Blueberry patch. It probably helps that the A/c condensate drain is very nearby. We live in an area with tons of Live Oak and Slash Pine (Sandy Acidic soil). Our property also has NATIVE Shiny Blueberry bushes on it. These plants and berries are much smaller but equally tasty as their larger cousins. Thanks for all your videos and tips.

Love your excitement and enthusiasm. I’ve got some hydrangeas rooted thanks to your videos and will be trying blueberries next year. This fall I switched from using pine wood shavings to white pine needles for mulch as I have plenty of dropped needles on the property. I probably should do a soil test as my plants don’t have a lot of new growth vigor although I do fertilize with ammonium sulfate. Any insight into advantages/disadvantages of various mulches would be appreciated! I also understand that mulch decomposition uses nitrogen so I do add some general purpose garden fertilizer in the spring. Great channel!

I never had much success rooting cuttings in soil. Eventually I built a small hydro bed with clay pellets and a sump of nutrient enriched water with a pump on a timer that flooded the bed several times a day. My success rate really improved and now I have an aquaponics tank feeding two large hydro beds and I can root most anything. If I stick fig cuttings in I have to remove them in a short period of time to keep them from taking over the bed. Easy to root cuttings will root in a few weeks, like raspberries, ivy, some types of flowers, tomatoes, hydrangeas, mulberries, hibiscus, even bay trees. I will try blueberries this year to fill in ones I lost in by blueberry row. It looks like I may have to try and root more bay cuttings to replace some nice trees that didn't survive this winters extreme cold.

@@MikeKincaid79 I have one of those too that I built years ago but it's always work to set up and keep the water level right. The hydrobeds are available 24 hrs a day. I can be working in the garden or orchard and take a few cuttings and simply stick them in one of the hydro beds and in a week or so know if they took or not. I have some yellow tomatoes that I planted three or four years ago that I keep rooting cuttings from so in a way I still have my original plants. I can place a fig cutting in there and in a couple of months start taking cuttings from it but after a year I have to remove it from the bed to prevent it taking over. I could easily start hundreds of fig cuttings a year if I wanted to.

Why don't you take the bottom parts of the branch and scape the hard woods off making the inner younger woods exposed to see if they will grow just like the tip (:

I learned a lot. Probably why alot of my cuttings didn't do so well. I was using more of the lower woodier cuttings. Well, thanks Mike that clears up why my blueberry cuttings didn't ever want to root and boosts my confidence to try again. You have a good day! 😊👍

As for the rooting solution, you need to put some in a separt container, because the tips of plants are wet.
