You can do all things through a verse out of context. That verse does not mean God wants everyone to pursue earthly riches. Rather desire spiritual things. The problem is that he is changing what God said. There is a strong biblical warning about that. When you add buzzwords of your movement in order for the Bible to support your movement, you have blundered your way into heresy.

Except for one thing... that was translated from the same manuscripts that the modern day bibles are.. I'm not saying all modern translations are good, but some are. How do you expect people to understand it, it uses many words that don't mean the same thing today. The KJV is just a translation, so we all really should just read the original Hebrew or Greek then?? The bible gets translated into many different languages so people all around the world can read Gods word.. This is okay yes? So why is it bad to have it translated from old English to modern English? It's like a Chinese person saying I can't read your bible I need it in my own language.. well I say I can't understand the old English I dont speak like that , hence I use modern English translations.

Kristy Ong it wasn’t translated from the same manuscripts, at least if it was it would say the same words, but the modern translations don’t. For example in the KJV in Matt 12:40 Jesus says that the prophet Jonas was in whale’s belly, in other (per)”versions” it’s says anything but that. Go to Genesis 1:21 and you will see that great whales are called great whales by God, and all the other creatures are called names by Adam, so God already set out this particular type of fish to be in the prophecy. Now, if it’s Jesus’ words, why does some modern translator have audacity to change the names of the fish, is he more intelligent or more skilled in that language just because he’s got a degree or something? I’ve seen someone say that he apparently had a revelation concerning this prophecy but the fish was a shark, i would be really concerned if people took it seriously being from God because my God doesn’t mistake a whale for a shark. There are a lot of examples where words like hell, satan etc are missing dozens of times but that’s just one of them. No, off course you don’t need to read from Greek or Hebrew because we don’t have the originals, but more importantly because God already provided his perfect words for English speakers in the King James Bible. And all the other nations just need to translate from the King James. For example i was born in Russia and Russian Synodal Translation is as much covered in tares as the modern English ones if not more. For example when talking about Mary mother of Jesus it spells She with a capital because as the Catholics, Orthodoxy thinks of her as a divine person and worships her. And off course there are lots of examples as well which point out that even that and other Russians translations weren’t translated from the same manuscripts because they simply don’t say the same thing.

Because that's pretty much the only thing that's different between the verses. How exactly does this affect our core beliefs or change the gospel message?? I still think if you are going to be worried about the EXACT words I believe God inspired the initial Greek and Hebrew writers and since God doesn't make errors we should all be reading that.. it's THOSE texts God inspired every other single bible translated from that are just that translations.. yes some are awful e.g. Passion translation and The message .. I wouldn't read them if I were paid to, I strongly believe they are distortions and aren't Gods word. But some of the others are really good!
