In this interview episode the legendary Mikkey Dee - the drummer of Motorhead and Scorpions (and earlier King Diamond, Dokken and Helloween) speaks about the newly re-released final Motörhead album Seriously Bad Magic and the legacy which Motorhead has left. Mikkey Dee also discusses which other unreleased and previously unheard by the fans songs Motorhead team has in the Snaggletooth vaults and how Mikkey, Phil Campbell and the Motorhead management decide on what to release and which live recordings to bring to the fans with their Lost Tapes.
Mikkey also opens up about a possibility of a Motorhead reunion (RELAX, it won't happen) and most importantly about the plans of a massive tribute concert with the biggest Motorhead friends to honour Lemmy and all of the past Motorhead members, and why the band did not do it right away.
We also talk about the time when Mikkey Dee joined Scorpions and his attempts to bring more power and energy into the legendary rock band, as well as remember his days in Motorhead and how the band was challenged to evolve without changing their own sound, thus limiting their creative potential.
Mikkey also shares his thoughts about why he is happy Lemmy did not get to see the current state of society and experience cancel culture and political correctness, and shares some of the funniest and more memorable stories which happened to the boys in Motorhead during their career.

Absolutely Judas Priest! I love how affectionately and respectfully Rob Halford speaks of Lemmy. These are two very different front men who came up across the same decades and always gave everything they had on stage regardless of private struggles. Rob Halford is one of the few legends qualified to stand up in history next to Lemmy.

Most of the younger generation wasn’t around when Motörhead and the other metal and rock bands were actually touring and playing for their fans. You don’t get into the music business to really make money if your dedicated to the music, you get into it music for the people who want to hear the music. Music is a gift that shouldn’t be forgotten and any chance to introduce or re-introduce Motörheads music or even other great bands is more important than ever because the younger generation needs to be exposed to those great bands. They need to know what they are missing and hopefully inspire the next generation to keep that kind of music going and not let it fade away.

If there is a little change, well, maybe Mikkey you read this: Back in 199? I saw Motorhead for maybe the tenths time in Germany at Full Force Festival, and I was standing there in the audience with about 80 000 motorhead fans. At the end of the show you threw your stick into the audience. I stood so far back, I didn't even attempt to catch it - something struck my foot, and there was your drumstick. I grabbed it, and it became my most precious possession I got from any concert. Now, 2023, it is literally the center piece of my studio, where I record local bands. My son, now eight years old, started to play drums at the age of five. Can't tell you how often I told him this sticks story, and how often he asked to see another Motorhead video. Thank you for everything, man!

I saw the Scorpions last October at the Forum in LA. I took my 15 year old who was more excited than I was, and I've been a fan since 82! The show was phenomenal. Mikkey definitely Motorized the Scorpions! Rock Believer is one of the best albums in any genre I've heard in a while.

G diamond in I was at that show at the forum last year off the hook scorpions kicked major balls at that show currently live in LA but grew up in Chicago remember seeing the scorpions at the Aragon ballroom and 77 or 76 love at first and Tours and then animal magnetism following and so on scorpions rule dude Mikkey Dee on drums. Too bad they don’t have Hermon anymore but Mikkey Dee really is a lot better. He’s a lot faster.

There was something uniquely noble about Lemmy + Motorhead. They were uniquely straight talking and for the music and fans. I recall seeing them, just the once, in some dump of a venue in former East Berlin in c2008? I was more rock/punk etc but respected Lemmy hence curious. Good God. Euro25 tickets, with maybe 800-1000 there. [Weeks later AC/DC playing the Olympic Stadium with cheap seats at Euro100+ and 60k there?(still love 'em tho)]. Lemmy was amazing and not just the music. He made a point of humbly thanking the audience. Of recognising the 'Little guys on the minimum wage who have scrimped+saved to be here, and this is for you'. He repeated it later, it mattered and we all felt it. Then they played for 3+ hours, just solid rock. It was incredible, and Lemmy and the band seemed such simply good honourable people, and madly entertaining rockers. - Could they be relaunched without Lemmy? No, really, MickeyD is right, it couldn't that misunderstands how pivotal he was. Not just the gittar, but the whole ethos of 'serious rock 'n roll' for 'the little guy [too]'. Respect to MickeyD he gets it, respect!

What was cool about Lemmy, is that he was against anything like racism and homophobia and sexism, in giving props to women in heavy metal, having black girlfriends and calling racism 'dumb', and taking the piss out of Mickey Dee for not liking some gay guys in a bar enthusing over his long hair, due to Mickey Dee having a problem (at the time) with those who swing the other way. Lemmy was a real one.

♠🍀♥ Since Lemmy died I started playing and singing his songs and I'm still doing this every day. After years of research I've built three replicas of "Murder One", "Marsha" and "Killer", it was a long way but now I'm so happy and can't stop playing. If you're interested in Lemmy's bass sound and playing style, check out what I've been up to since the great man left us. We should keep his legacy alive and it's so much fun playing his music as loud as possible. I love Lemmy and I'm so grateful for his sound, his songs and everything else he has done for all of us.I can tell you as a musician, that it's so much fun to get into his music deeper and deeper and for me it's like medicine to hear and to feel this sound and to sing out his lyrics loud. We know that we all have to leave someday, but in Lemmy's case his music will remain as long as we play and feel it. Lemmy always said "don't forget us, we play Rock'n'Roll" and that's what I do every day, no matter what they say. Greetings from Speyer and keep on rocking, don't stop the Lemmy Rock'n'Roll !!! 🎛🎸😲

Didn’t expect it While watching kept seeing him in my mind pointing out to crowd behind kit, could listen to him all day, and have. Now…,. If stopping for air raid sirens didn’t rip your heart out God Bless the brave courageous strong people of Ukraine! My flag in front of house has Ukraine flag banner- My heart cries and bleeds for the innocent murdered , another apartment building hit today. CNN showed video of poor people talking inside recording as missile hit. Shaking…… Why? All here must realize crimes against Ukraine, innocent children, thousands, oh my God, thousands of children. 😢 It’s too much sometimes to take, but I think they are so much stronger than any others on this planet!!! The definition by Mikkey of Motörhead was right on the point. That made the difference between them and Metallica. They've lost their identity in the 90´s started with the black Album, got worse with each following record and subsequently never really found themselves again. The only reason Metallica still works these days is, because they've kept their identity on stage.

MOTORHEAD was all about survival of the fittest. Dee being with King Diamond was WAY more impressive. I hope Dee writes a book 😛

Dear old metalheads who already passed their 50s: first - did you know that "mikkey dee" is a synonym for mcdonalds burger restaurant? Hahaha... Ok, lets be serious know. Mikkey speaks directly from my old metal heart. To make long things short: if you cannot laugh about yourself, you are damned. I do not care at all about people, who think your look and insta is the ultimate shit in their hopeless lives - they do not know better. What what we old metalheads do, growing up in this age? Would we ever heard and liked metal? Face yourself, with that question. For example: i hate rap and hiphop an shit. BUT i made my peace with that kind of "music" - i saw once an interview with some well known rapper - but i do not remember his name, i was too stoned, maybe. He simply explained that all young freaks wanted to make music, but the learning of a certain instrument would take way too long - there you have it, the complete and whole explaination of simple music. And millions love it. Metal will never die is true. But 10 years from now, maybe no one will remember what it meant to metal, back in the 80s. Todays heralded as the best metal time ever - whicj is true in a way, but life was shit already then, but we were young and hungry for the new, the outstanding, the rebellious. Like the "kids" of today. Remeber? Our old people also always said that the you are stupid and doing only crap. Did we? With best regards to every single metalhead in this fucking universe!
