I see so many people saying she’s verbal and basically accusing mom of lying.. that’s very insensitive and insulting! She is learning and growing in her communication but you can tell she still has a lot of difficulty communicating and she is still not able to have significant conversations. Stop making conclusions based on a few minutes of a video which highlights her development ..And if you have an issue with the content remember you are choosing to watch it! 😊

@@humilitybeforehonorsmk2311yes, if you watch the videos you can see she can still communicate just in many ways. To the ones that are just trying to be mean, yes, they go a little far. To the ones that have experience, and are have a child like this, or can see through many videos how the child acts, you can see things the mother or others don't, it's about having an open mind, and being able to see, sometimes the mother like many mothers over step a little by not letting the child express themselves like doing everything for them, or the child gets away with most things because the mom just looks away, or hey let her do some things on her own, let her understand no she doesn't get her way, what about the other children, most don't see what others can, and when you point it out, offense comes in, although it's out of love, or out of hey try this, or try that, she put it out there for all to respond 🤷🏽‍♀️

the amount of comments I see saying that Mikko isn't non-verabl or atleast not anymore, they took a lot of work to get where they are now. It's insulting that people are saying this and more about this. Sure she is speaking more but Mikko was non-verbal and definitely has a speech delay [if you want to use the proper term for it. Mikko is very expressionate because her parents let her have the space to express herself in any way means nessacry while trying to guide her to use words or signs to be one of the main communications. Let's not forget that the mom herself is Autistic! She doesn't catch onto everything the kid is trying to communicate but she is trying her best. Maybe Mikko was saying "Coco Melon" but I doubt it since that didn't seem the problem, she had a tablet on her lap and probably would've gestured to her mother about it. No Mikko was uncomfortable, wanted to seat where it seemed comfortable and closer to her parents, Aka the front seats Does it mean I am right? No, this is my guess from what I see and hear and sometimes thinsg gets mixed which is normal. sorry for the rant. I am so happy to see Mikko improving so much but being realistic about and sharing that it's not always easy, sharing situations and signs that possibly could help other people. You guys are doing such a great job with Mikko. She is improving so fast and as much as there are negative comments, it shows that you are just doing the job right and have a good connection with your kid! Keep up the good work! ❤

💯 These people are out here with a PhD all of a sudden. Instead of being educated and enjoying the beauty of this family's journey, they are acting like they know everything. But most of them can't even communicate clearly with the verbal children that they have. So quick to become a judge and jury in something they know absolutely nothing about, other than what this wonderful family are teaching us. Super annoying! Your comment is spot on 🙌💖

Huni a lot of us watched Mikko from a baby till now. She was non verbal at first. Yes she speaks now and can express herself much better. We know it comes from Hard work but non verbal is not talking at all or only can say a few words. She’s has a speech delay now. I have a Son that has Severe Autism and he’s non verbal. He can’t tell my husband and I anything he’s 7. I’ve tried everything under the son to get my son to talk. He can say a few numbers and barely saying those correctly and can say a few Alphabets and that’s it. He cant express himself at all. The way my son talk is grabbing us by the hands or grabbing what he wants. He can’t even point. Where I live there’s NO HELP I can get for my son, the help I that tried to help they was having trouble because he’s non verbal.

When she gets older and asks for “ fish” and you aren’t there to translate it will cause frustration and sorrow and her not being understood- try to teach the correct words from square one. It’s important to not have to relearn something the correct way - they have so many challenges communicating. I teach non verbal children and adults in a behavioral school. Frustration can come out in self injurious and aggressive behaviors.

There were times I had to stay in my child’s classroom because the teachers couldn’t understand her. 😢I remember breaking down and crying in the school playground because I felt helpless. So many kids love Cocomelon 😆 One of the hardest parts of parenting is when they try to communicate with us and we struggle to understand them. 😔 For neurotypical kiddos this heightens those pesky tantrum years, and for others it can last much longer. Cheering you and your family on!

@@jennyquezada9644 Hi Jenny! Sorry, I must have been unclear. I actually wrote “neurotypical” on purpose because neurotypical 18 month olds start to throw tantrums and struggle to communicate with their caregivers until they grow in their verbal skills. I used to use sign language for “finished,” “more,” and “help,” which alleviated *some* frustration. Unfortunately, this goes on much longer and more intensely for children with a neurodivergence.

She’s finally expressing more often that she wants to communicate verbally and that can be so tough when you don’t understand what she’s trying to say. One thing you can do is try saying a word or phrase slowly when you realize what she wants. That way she can hear the words more clearly. I don’t know if that helps with her processing disorders but it seemed to work well with other things you did. You’re right, she is developing so quickly right now! ❤❤❤

It helps to teach sign language as well as make a language board and book. I thought you had one, you can put it on the refrigerator and when you can’t understand her, have her choose the picture of what she needs. Then you can fold it up and take it with you when you leave. You can have one page for food, one for songs and videos, one for toys, one for clothes, etc. this helped my son tremendously. ( it’s just laminated pictures with Velcro on the back that sticks to the board/book). It’s hard to explain but if you have email I can send a picture of it. It’s real simple and easy to make. You can decorate it, make it cute and fun(for my son, his had to be plain though). It really does help you to understand what they need and for my son it calmed down his frustrations because he was able to communicate and have his wants and needs fulfilled.

Teaching my BSL has changed aged our life’s for the better. He and we are so much happier since he’s able to communicate. He’s non verbal too and his couple words he can partially say is near impossible for us as his parents to understand. Strangers have 0% chance of understanding him without signs.

You are the best mom , better that I was with my Autistic son. He has two brothers that he would follow . I would just make sure his environment was safe and peaceful. Fast forward he’s 19 and still struggles with autism but he’s verbal. With symptoms and flat ups. You too are the best parents😊❤❤❤

My daughter who has worked with kiddies on the spectrum for over 20 yrs. One little boy who was 5yrs old went from not speaking, like mikko to talking in almost full sentences in 6mths. She worked with him 3x a week/ 3 HRS sessions ( 9hrs a week for 6mths)

May God continue to bless you and your family. I admire your patience and firmness with her. Just continue to show her love and acceptance. She will come around in time. Check out the Son-Rise Program instead of ABA Therapy, which many say can be very traumatic for the child.

To me, You guys are perfect parents for Mikko! You are sternly gentle with her as you work with her to discover what issue she has! Please don’t stop working on the thumb sucking as it will ruin her teeth and cause her to need corrective dental intervention. God bless you family is my prayer for you!

May I ask why she can't sit next to you until dad comes out... it's temporary and she wanted to sit with you... while waiting for daddy (not a judgemental q... a query on your comfort or safety fears?)

For people that have never met her. To understand exactly what she was saying is awesome. But For her own mom not to understand she clearly said coco melon. The mom needs to do work too. Cuz the first time she said it I knew exactly what she wanted.

The mom knew...I think she is doing it for content. She's with her 24/7 and knows everything she watches.
This is why we CAN'T travel with our Autistic daughter!
