This may sound weird to some but as a Momma of a now-adult son that has Asbergers (and other diagnoses that impair his daily life) My heart literally skips a beat, jumping for joy inside, when I see Mikko making progress like in this video. For those without experience with neurodivergent loved ones it may seem the work we do with and for our children is more work than results & that could NOT be farther from the truth. There are SOOOO many more ways of communicating than the way we've always been taught. And when you work this in depth from birth with your child, you know numerous forms of expression they use to communicate with you. And even those times they choose to NOT use their well honed forms of communication like sign language, etc... Even that is communication. Haha. Communication with Sass sometimes, but communication nonetheless. Haha. Continued prayers for you and your precious family.

She’s doing incredible. I have extreme social anxiety too. You’re doing a fantastic job. Exposure therapy like this is super effective. You are encouraging her and empowering her to step out of her comfort zone without forcing her which could make her feel more threatened by the situation. You’re both doing incredible Mama

Exactly this! Providing opportunities for growth and exploration in a safe and supportive manner. Another thing that helped my son (now 16) when he was Mikko's age in these situations was to let him approach at his own pace and the adults or children HE chose. Shopping was more successful if he was IN the cart, he felt safer in there. He'd still climb in if he wasn't nearly 6ft tall 😂

Great Job Mikko- I hope she looks forward to wanting to play with more kids in the future. My son looks for kids- which makes me nervous, but hopeful. A few weeks ago some kids kept running away from my son when he was trying to play with them. My son, who is 3, was just laughing and running around with them until he realized they kept running to where he couldn’t go( he knows to stay inside the playground area). The kids stood on the other side and saw he stopped following them, whispered to each other and stayed on the other side of the playground. My son looked down and back at them and started humming (one of the ways he stems) and slid down the slide and ran around looking at the other kids. I was heartbroken. I fought back tears because I couldn’t make them play with him but also knew I couldn’t fix it either. That was the only bad if you can call it that- experience we had playing with other kids in the park. Most interactions have been pleasant and brought joy to my heart that there are still kind and patient kids in the world. Not all experiences will go well, but don’t let that overshadow all the good ones you had and will have to come!

I'm happy for her taking Mikko to the park, but I noticed that when the other children approached Mikko, they to have their faces blurred out. And rightfully so. When she took Mikko to the Dentist, they had to have his permission to film in h8s office, he said it. So long story short, she will not be able to film Mikko at School. That's why she's in no hurry to send her. That's why now Mikko can identify number and letters. Someone a while ago, hinted at this month's ago. And then when it's brought up, she catches an attitude. So, Thank You for seeing what I'm seeing. There's other things, but when they're brought up, some people act as though you've beat their dog!!

It sounds like you’re concerned about the situation with Miko and have some thoughts about how it’s being handled. Perhaps it would be helpful to ask Miko’s parent about her school plans, especially considering her neurodivergent needs, before jumping to conclusions. It’s important to remember that each family knows their child’s needs best and has to make decisions accordingly, including the financial aspects of specialized education. Offering advice or opinions on someone else’s parenting, especially when it comes to their child’s education and care, is a sensitive matter and should be approached with respect and understanding. Probably stop playing Internet. Therapist, that probably more helpful.
@lindawilliams141

@@Tavieme I am not even pretending to be a Therapist on anyone's level. But how many times have you heard Precious ask for help for a particular problem?? I commented on that when she first mentioned it, that's why I had Asked Mom had she taken Mikko to a Doctor. And she still, to this day, solicits help from her readers. So I know that this is her house, her rules. I get it.

I do not know much about autism but I have been watching your videos and you said she is non verbal but she does speak and I think sometimes we tend to put a time on our kids, when they should talk, when they should walk etc. but kids develop differently and she will get their eventually, just continue to encourage her and support her, guide her but especially pray for and with her. Mommy, I just totally fell in love with this amazing little girl and believe in her and yourself and trust me, everything is possible with God. Continue to be a fantastic mom.

My daughter was the same. It took me taking her to the park to socialize and expose her to other kids, like 3 times a week, for months. I also made sure to get on/IN the playground and do the climbing and sliding with her and other kids to get her used to how to play with them. After doing this for months, with some encouragement, she started to play/follow kids around by herself, without me. Exposure. Exposure. Exposure. You gotta literally get in there and show her how it's done. Or an ABA therapist can do this for you at the park during their sessions with your daughter. Good luck.
