its kind of the classic "New Rage": 1. Something new comes up 2. Everyone hates it 3. It gets removed 4. Everyone actually gives it a chance, and suddenly it becomes a cult classic 5. They bring it back with a price 6. And then everyone complains about the price rise, cycle, repeat . . . god sometimes we (humans) are stupid :c Honestly its no wonder why companies treat us like they do, we confuse the f*k out of them!

Decapre is actually a really cool character to use with a completely original playstyle. The only problem is that Capcom handled her debut terribly by teasing what COULD have been the USF4 5th fighter. People only hate Decapre out of sheer disappointment.

No one hates Decapre, but everyone hated the hype for a 5th character and are just taking it out on this new character. Remember when Arcade Addition was coming out and the only characters confirmed were Yun and Yang? The sudden appearance of Evil Ryu and Oni caused a positive buzz if I recall, because those characters were unexpected. If for Ultra SFIV only 4 characters were announced and they suddenly came out with an announcement with Decapre as an additional character, the reaction would be the exact opposite of what's going on now.

I imagine they are upset because Capcom kept saying that it would be a new character. While this is true, the "New" character shares many similar animations and is literally just Cammy's character model with a mask. After Capcom already copied and pasted Street Fighter X Tekken characters into Ultra Street Fighter IV (which many considered lazy), this seems to be even more so. She has some different moves, but many of her pokes and special moves are shared with Cammy. I'm going to reserve judgment until I get to play her, but I'm still very underwhelmed to say the least. Capcom seems to be always be taking the easy way out lately.

So I don't see why this is a big deal there are a lot of clone characters in every fighting game, yes opinions are opinions but it's not the first clone character in the series.

I think Decapre is an amazing character in the SF franchise. The fact that she looks like Cammy with a mask doesn't bother me at all (in fact I thought that who it was upon first glance). However I also thought that she was a bit OP until I found out she was a charge character (which fits seeing as she uses psycho power) and I thought, ok, this is pretty balanced as it is. I love Decapre, we need more characters like this to freshen up the roster!

It pisses people the hell off when you promise something fresh and new and then deliver a lazy character because almost all the artists have apparently gone to another project.

A cammy clone is better than another shotoclone in my eyes. We have, what, like Ryu, Ken, Sakura, Akuma, Gouken, Evil Ryu and Oni. Cammy's got one strike. Ryu's got fucking six.

Personally, USF4 reeks of laziness on Capcom's part. Pretty much copying characters from SFxT and pasting them into the game, the slap in the face that is the edition select and then adding something that's essentially a Cammy reskin with different mechanics. They really aren't doing anything revolutionary to me.

In the case that Capcom didn't have the time/money to create a completely new character model, would be cool if they decided to include Sean too.. He's awesome, and he just needed Ryu's/Ken's animations, some moves are different, I know.. but much of the work was done

Now I know that I'm not the biggest SF fan out there, as in knowing a lot about or mastering games in the series, but I did grow up on Street Fighter II, and wasn't that game pretty much built upon Ryu and Ken, two at the time identical characters? I don't recall a lot of complaints then. Not that I'm a fan of them cloning, but yeah.

We don't really hate Decapre, but we are tired of these "clones". More work should be done to create a new character. People hate on third strike, but the characters in that one were diverse. Why create all this hype for a cammy clone. Did you really need all that time, and development to create a goddamn copy?

I don't think it's so much the character as it was the hype around it.

One of the most unique features of the Street Fighter series of games is the subtle difference between the normal moves. 6 buttons that all characters have, but they are rarely exactly the same. Even for "clone" characters like Ken and Ryu. The animation, damage, startup, recovery, range, hit/hurt box, are rarely the same. Which forces the player to play clone characters very differently. Therefore, Decapre was really a letdown on this aspect. She is not only a clone, but one of the first clone character in the game who has their normal move set almost exactly the same as Cammy. It also reflects the effort by the developers. Granted, her special moves are really interesting. But does she need to set the precedence of lazy normal design?

I'd love to see Urien return and think he would play very well in the Street Fighter IV series. I'm also shocked that Alex still isn't in Street Fighter IV since Capcom had hyped him as the next main Street Fighter character. I was shocked when he wasn't in vanilla Street Fighter IV.

I wish Rainbow Mika could've been included. She would make a lot of fans happy.

I don't hate her, because I understand the circumstances behind Ultra SFIV. They have an incredibly low budget, and not enough money for 3D designers, so re-using models was the only thing they could do.

Maybe they could have at least given her a slightly different hairstyle/color than Cammy? At least the other Bison dolls had their own look. Graphically speaking, this literally IS Cammy with a mask.

Rearranging a few specials and swapping an animation ((Like say Vega's jump.H)) does not a new character make. Thing is Max you're right, they shouldn't have hyped a character that would be essentially Cammy with rearranged specials and changed notations. This is doubled by the fact that it's the same exact Cammy model, even with the same stance for god's sake. It all screams lazy. And this is the problem, capcom fans haven't had a brand new character since super. This is not how to create excitement for the game. This turns more people off which means less support going in, which also means a less likely chance for a full sequel for a very, very long time. The down side is, if this flops, the fans will be the ones punished for capcom's mistakes. With them being so disconnected with the community ((strangely enough)) they will just see low sales as a "lack of interest in the genre".

Your god damn right I'm upset. Not so much with the character itself, but the hype leading up to it was dissapointing to say the least. When the game was first announced I thought I was going to be Haggar, because he hadn't been in a SF game. Alex would have been awesome to see, especially with Hugo in the game.

Capcom has no budget for a completely new character, and we all knew that. I was not disappointed nor surprised at the reveal of Decapre, as I saw that coming from miles away.

My issue with Decapre isn't so much that she's a clone character. My issue is that she's a model copy, slapped on with a mask and a claw and the same basic moveset as Cammy. It's right down to the twin ponytail and that's what bothers me. Give her a new hairstyle - What about a solo tail? What about a high big and poofy ponytail? What about a pixie cut? What about long hair? Why not even bald just to make something completely different? That's my issue with it. It's just taking the model of Cammy and giving her a new outfit. I honestly thought first that it was just like a "Undercover Outfit" or "Brainwashed Outfit" for Cammy the first time I saw Decapre.

The inclusion of Decapre is the result of Capcom employees saying this: "Okay, we had a lot of work modeling and testing a lot of new characters for SFxTekken, and no one supported that game. So... since our public doesn't seem to want new stuff, now let's give them this Cammy clone!"

The problem it's not with the character (i really think that will be fun to play with her), but the hype about the expectation on the new character. Capcom don't take real risks on that, and it turned out as something negative in the end.

When I heard that the fifth character would most likely going to be a doll, I was hoping that it would be a doll team character if that makes any sense. Have one doll be on point and then the others would jump in during certain combos, specials, or ultras and that if any doll got hit that the health would decrease. I feel that it would have made the fifth character a more unique one because you would have more versatility than you would find in any one character but you would be more vulnerable as a consequence.

Sean wasnt really a clone character if you really think hard about it. yes his master is Ken but all of his moves were unique even his specials like the Hado Burst

I don't see how she can be compared to Raven outside of the teleporting, which Juni had. Though here it works much differently with many fakeout options and I just looooove what I see. Honestly, I look at Decapre as Juni 2.0 with lots of cooler shit. And as someone who loved and still loves using Juni in A3, that's all I could ever ask for. Fuck, I'm picking up USF4 just for Decapre after having sold Super a long while back because she looks so damn fun. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. Though I would like an alternate costume of maskless Decapre with her hair let down, just to make her look different, though that's asking too much. (huehue)

Don't forget, Capcom borrowed J.Talbain's (Darkstalkers 3) moves and gave them to Amaterasu (Okami). Most notable one was the air-dash move.

Haters gonna hate. I love playing Cammy and Oni as high octane offensive characters, Decapre seems like a great blend of their styles. Look how many Ryu "clone" characters there are, now there's a female clone too. I'll probably main her. :P

Managing expectations is super important. Look at the reception Shago received when he was given his own moveset in KI. He went from being a bonus reskin to becoming his own character when nobody was expecting it to happen (mostly because KI delivered on expectations for the planned new characters). Im just mad that her mask looks so dumb. Like the mask she wears in the comics is so cool looking, but capcom can't be assed to change facial animations so she looks dumb. And yeah expecting a fully fledged new character iwas setting yourself up for dissapointment, but is it UNREASONABLE. ONE CHARACTER? one new character? too much to ask? I agree to every point you said Max. Personally I'm excited for Decapre, however with that excitement comes disappointment, I'm disappointed that I won't get to play as the other 11 dolls.... I really wish that Capcom would make a game like Death By Degrees where we play as Nina Williams from Tekken, a 2D fighting game or adventure beat 'em up where we see the story from Shadaloo's perspective and play as Cammy when she was brainwashed and went to kidnap the first doll, from there we would play as the other doll and so on and so forth... all to tie in with the main SF series!!! it may be my personal wish but I REAAAAAALLY would love to see a game like this, what do you guys think?

Got nothing against the character or gameplay, its all the hype Capcom built up for it. You don't build up hype for something as unoriginal as this. Thats just logic. She should have been the first reveal, if any.

If they make her normals look a bit different then she'd be more accepted. As it is, she looks like a minor reskin of Cammy. It just looks like a Cammy costume from the size of the model and everything else.

I was at Final Round when the trailer was shown. She wasn't very well receipted. Mainly because she has all types of moves, does a lot of damage, and seems to gain meter like crazy.

Love it. Disappointed at a cammy clone but excited to see its mixup charge character. I always wanted to pickup a charge character but the ones in Street Foghter never really did it for me. I like her design her style is generic yes but her special moves look so cool! Im definitely going to learn how to play her and use her at launch.

I think the reason why they did not add someone like Sean or Q was because although Street Fighter is a game it does have it's own lore and it's own canon. Characters like Sean appear after the events of Street Fighter IV (Since it is apparently a prequel to Third Strike) Ken has not met Sean yet and started to train him and Ryu has not met Oro for him to be trained. I guess the characters that they would put into Street Fighter IV needs to work alongside the canon... or what I said could just be bullshit I dunno.

Doods, I actually am really hype about this character. The mixup game is gonna be exciting and the ultras look really cool. You guys can sleep on Decapre all you want but I will be maining along with Elena, Makoto and Juri in Ultra.

Max, I'm at odds with you not only starting but also ending this video on the assumption that everybody hates Decapre no questions asked. I mean no offense by this, but this is exactly the kind of thing that somebody with your influence SHOULDN'T do. All you're doing is exacerbating the irrational fears, knee-jerk/blind rage, and general stupidity of people who think Capcom is only interested in making quick cash. And I won't say I didn't react strongly against the idea of a Cammy clone initially as well (and I'm still a little unhappy that there wasn't some amount of redesign visually to differentiate besides the addition of a mask, although DLC costumes will solve that), but the moment I saw how she plays most of that initial fear fell away. She looks like a really fun, really unique character. In fact, I even disagree that she's "just Raven with a Cammy skin". All people are doing with these comparisons is finding a way to condemn Capcom even after they differentiated her from Cammy. Nobody wants to believe that beneath the surface she's not just a cheap, lazy clone character. Moreover, people need to realize the situation Capcom is in with Ultra Street Fighter IV. People assume that the reuse of assets is just laziness or cheapness on the part of Capcom, but people also have to remember that the video game industry is, at its core, a business. Capcom's corporate overlords were unwilling to support another full update to SFIV, and for a while there was little to no hope that we'd ever see anything beyond AE2012. Does it suck that Capcom Corporate is this stringent? Absolutely. But it's also the reality of a company that's been losing money, and supporting games that target only a fairly niche audience is generally considered bad practice from a business standpoint. And yet, Ono and the rest of the SFIV team managed to pull strings to get enough budget to release something, ANYTHING. In fact, I'm almost positive USFIV was originally planned to be purely a balance update and nothing else. Whether it was Ono or somebody else on the team, they managed to convince Capcom that it would be financially sound to release a full title if they reused some of the assets they made for SFxT. Did they do this just for the quick buck? Capcom Corporate may have justified it this way, but the actual development team had no interest in money. All they wanted was to give us as definitive an iteration of SFIV as they could manage with what budget they were given. This is why the community feedback has been such an important part of the development process of Ultra. This may be their last chance and they want to get it right. Not for the dollar, but for US. So before you're so quick to condemn them for being lazy or cheap, consider the fact that your alternative is to not get a comprehensive balance patch, or new game mechanics, or new characters, or new modes. Your alternative is NOTHING. Not because you should have to deal with sub-par cash grabs as a lot of people would claim, but because this is the best they could do, and they've done it for you. And if you ask me, they've done an exemplary job of it so far. So do me a favor Max: Instead of clickbaiting and fear mongering, why not show some support for this company you so claim to love. Do a video on the positive side of this story. Get a new perspective and talk about what's actually GOOD about Decapre (and there's a lot there to talk about I assure you). I have a TON of respect for you as a person, as a player, and as a content creator, but videos like these make me strongly debate unsubscribing to your channel. Show Capcom that you love them as much as you say, and as much as you don't seem to realize that they love you.

Truly we are missing out on the greatness of the EX series. I know that this installment of street fighter was from a different studio but Volcano Rosso, Hinata, Hokuto, and Kairi would be great additions because each of those characters had their own uniqueness

i think the most lazy aspect of decapre is her animation is completely identical too, if they changed that i could probably forget she isn't cammy, but when her idle animation and low jabs are exactly the same, its just impossible to differentiate those two.

I think Decapre's a good character and I wouldn't have hated her if she wasn't the character we were all waiting for so long. Capcom's been getting lazy lately, I know they have some problems right now, but that's no excuse to hype everyone up for a clone.

The big problem is that they branded her as an entirely new character when, visually, they could have made her an alternate Cammy costume and as stated before, she borrows a lot of assets from Cammy. Capcom could have chosen any one of the other dolls with the same moveset and people would be happy since there was a precedent that the dolls fight similarly as evidenced by Juli and Juni.

Honestly, the only thing that bothers me about Decapre is her first impression. But it's so important to get that initial 'wow' factor, if my simple opinion. What amazes me about the visual design of every major fighting game fighting game is how every character is just oozing with visual pop and style. You can take a glance at someone and get a good idea of who they are, and maybe a bit about their style. Our new lady looks like a Cammy skin. New(ish) style? Rad. Fun to play as? I'm sure she will be. But looking back to Juli and Juni, they at least had different hair styles. Yeah, they had the same outfit, but it was the Bison Doll Motif. They each had just enough of their own flare to stand out as their own characters, with the "clone" aspects working for them instead of against them as part of the visual aesthetic. Decapre, meanwhile, borrows one too many looks from Cammy. Cloned suit? Sure. Same hair? That's going to draw some ire. Taking that one important visual distinction from a character is going to make her seem like a clone or a reskin. tl:dr: Change the hair style a bit, and it undercuts a lot of her problems. If people don't immedietly connect her to Cammy. I advise dreadlocks and a darker skin palette, unless B-Man's got a thing for the Vanilla.

We love Ken and rage when he's not included, but we hate Decapri. We are all hypocrites.

As Woolie sais in the 2bestfriendsplay podcast, "you cant build me up buttercup, just to let me down." Decapre will probably play fine, and be accepted as part of the roster once the dust settles, but there is no question Capcom made a bad call hyping up this 5th character. The edition select is a cool feature though!

Am I the only one that was rooting for Haggar to finally show up as a playable character and not just as a background prop on Ultra? Think about it: pretty much everybody else from Final Fight has had its time on the spotlight - Guy, Cody, Rolento, Poison, Hugo, Sodom... I'd rather have the mayor of Metro City to show up and be a slightly tweaked clone of Zangief (pile driver, lariat, etc.) than have yet another shotokan lame ass clone or this broken ass, overpowered copy-paste Cammy clone.
