Generally you would double the soft 18 vs dealer 3-6, and if you're a card counter would even double soft 18 vs the 2, hit soft 18 vs the 2, and stand or hit soft 18 vs the ace, depending on the count. Mark is correct. There are apps to learn this, don't go to Vegas and guess.

COVID was just too weird. I'd like to forget that it happened. My favorite era of Vegas was the mid to late-90s during the mega resort boom. There was something new and exciting to see every six months or so, and you still got to walk through places like the Stardust, Riviera, and the Sands (I was there the last week it was open). The 2010s were pretty awesome, too, once I was able to maintain my MGM Gold status. I regret going to Vegas now, sadly. I am glad I got to see Love in 2019. Such an amazing show!

It was incredibly weird because it was the biggest PsyOp I’ve ever witnessed and so many people fell for it. It’s important that we don’t forget about it. We need to learn from it so the country doesn’t fall for it when the govt tries to propagandize everyone into oblivion again in the future. I never went along with any of the narrative because I knew it was all nonsense the minute the govt started pretending to care about our health. If they ever cared, they would have banned PFAS and Glyphosate years ago.

The ARIA streaming sign reminded me of when I flew to Vegas the first day they allowed planes back in the air after 9/11. All the marquees on the strip had replaced any streaming signs with streaming American flags, their marquee signs replaced from what headliner was there to "God Bless America" and when we checked into the Mirage, and started playing slots, the music would stop every 15 minutes for Kate Smith singing, "God Bless America" and all the slot players sang along. It was a surreal week.

The 9/11 families have released some very interesting information this week that they got from the UK govt. The American govt has actively obscured this information for all these years. I saw their press conference and it’s really disturbing to hear the way that our govt has strung them along. And on a side note, whenever you see the establishment and the corporations both trying to tug at everyone’s heartstrings and get everyone into a hyper-emotional state, we should all be VERY suspicious. Humans tend to lose their critical thinking ability when they are super emotional, the establishment has a keen understanding of this. They wanted us in that state after 9/11 so they could gut our constitional rights with the Patriot Act. *Please don’t delete this comment. Americans really need to know these truths. The escalating censorship going on in this country is truly alarming and incredibly un-American.

I was at the Mirage 2 weeks ago and some of the machines were shut off. I remember Caesar's Palace from the 70's. Yes, it was a grand place. Fountains in the front. I don't think another casino had a water feature in the front. Our mom would let my sister and I go off on our own on the strip, with a time and place to meet back. No phones then. lol Can't do that now.

My first visit was in the spring of 1982, as I was 22 at the time. Visitors dressed up to go to the shows, as I did when viewing the Siegfred and Roy magic experience. Caesars was so opulent and the star on the strip that time. I didn't dare walk in, thinking I had to be staying there!! Great memory seeing that and the opportunity to drive down Fremont Street and view Vicky Vegas, and the welcoming cowboy (wish his arm moved today!!).

Loved COVID Vegas. It was awesome. I went twice. Wonderful. No crowds. Everything my wife and I wanted to do was open. So cheap. I could have stayed at Excalibur for a month, if I had the time to do it, for less than my rent at that time and I live in the midwest. Can't wait to move out there. Mark, we're moving to Bullhead City/Laughlin. Loved it. Your recommendation actually. The Colorado River is a very comfortable 65-68 degrees which feels great. It's been in the upper 11x-12x for the last 2 weeks. Vegas at 100 would be chilly. HAHHAHAAAAA. It's a dry heat. Love you guys. Keep it up.

Covid Vegas WAS secretly awesome. (2021 Vegas was the peak.) Downside was 99.95% of visitors from SoCal, which meant crowds of dudebros without masks in public areas (at one point they limited entrance to the Cosmo to people with room keys or restaurant reservations), and of course the fights in the casinos. And of course, Covid Vegas is a major reason we now have overcrowded/overpriced Vegas now. I was at the final performance of Love - last-minute tickets were surprisingly low-priced. Saw it 10 years ago, and it was still awesome. They gave out commemorative tchotchkes as we left.

I visited Las Vegas three times in the 2020 - 2021 COVID years, including shortly after they partially reopened. Got upgraded rooms with great views, almost no traffic on The Strip. It was different and kind of wild. December 24, 2020 around 10:00 AM I was able to stand in the middle of Las Vegas Blvd. as the nearest car was 2 stop lights away. Like I said, wild. I have stayed at the Versaille Tower, when it was part of Horseshoe/Bally's my room overlooked the Paris pool area and could see the Bellagio fountains. Second best view I ever had. Best was at Paris after the partial reopen in 2020 upgraded room that had a view of the Tower, the Balloon, and Bellagio fountains. Freakin' awesome. The huge atrium at Mirage - what will happen with all of the plants in it?

My biggest gripe with the Versailles tower is there's no mini-fridge in the rooms. Paris and Horseshoe had them until this new tower. A sign of the future of all Caesars rooms? And with so few balconies I'm sure they'll have a huge premium, I used to love the Jubilee tower. Rona Vegas was great but 2009 was our first trip and that was my best version of Vegas, well maybe early 2011 right after Cosmo opened. Still had Bill's and the real O'Shea's for cheap dives. Seemed like way less aggressive homeless and buskers on Fremont, not as busy.. Maybe I just miss being 15 years younger I've got 2 Gameking G23 video poker machines in my house. Video Poker, Keno, Slots, Blackjack and Roulette in 1 machine. Problem is one isn't working and I haven't had time to try to repair ii and don't know who I should contact..

The Mirage cash giveaway makes me just sick. Last month, Southwest airlines had a big anniversary sale with some excellent fares but I did not book a flight. Now, when I heard of the Mirage progressive giveaway, I headed right over to the Southwest site and found July from where I fly from was entirely booked! No flights available. Checked other airlines and they were double the usual fares. I could get there if I really wanted but it would be entirely too expense to make it worthwhile. Sigh. It would have been fun! COVID Vegas was not that fun since so much of it was closed. Wearing a mask made it hard to gamble and drink at the same time. And you got to get your temperature checked at every casino entrance.

Cool thing about airlines post covid (and Southwest always) is the free cancellation. If you have some miles book anything you think you might take and cancel later if not needed! :)

Flying during COVID was wild. Flew a couple times in 2021 and the upgrade to first class was negligible so of course I jumped on it. Flew in 2022 with the family and I got all sad as we went into what I quipped as “civilian” security which got a look from the wife.

The Rio instilled the fear of Gawd in all the Strip resorts to upgrade their marquee hardware, hahahahaha! They got OLED impostor syndrome, hahahaha! COVID_19-era Vegas definitely was NOT the best Vegas era. I know it sucks that the dollar doesn't go as far in Vegas these days compared to during that time and prior to then, but are we going to forget how most everything closed early during that era (or remained outright closed) and is responsible for Vegas being short of genuine all-night dining options ever still? Yeah, what Collins is doing is definitely standard and there's nothing unethical about that. Unless I want a 7-11 Slurpee-esque kind of frozen drink experience, I don't like too much ice in my drinks personally. I always love inquiring when playing video poker at various lobby bars if they have those aesthetically awesome globe ice cubes, in fact. 😊

I asked MGM managers/supervisors/ hosts on HOW they know what your Cosmopolitan Identity Account # is to transfer the points(2 for 1), and NO one could answer. Too many Volleyball players at Mandalay Bay this weekend. The original Star Trek was the BEST ever! You established a Sign On and Password, earned different Tier Level games based upon medals earned which opened new games.

My rich Aunt used to live in grosse pointe and she had an original dollar Liberty Bell in her living room 😮 it took silver dollar coins and it was huge. As a little kid I think that's where I got started on my gambling 😆 oh yeah I forgot to mention I prefer the original looking Caesars Palace in the '80s '90s at night especially all lit up pink and blue lights 😢

The 90s in Vegas was my favorite time. As far as the covid time, I'm not trying to be negative, but I do believe you will see another real slow and hard times in Vegas in the future. Maybe the Zombie apocalypse, lol. Stayed the remodeled rooms at Horseshoe was very nice, especially the bathrooms. It's definitely an end of another Era in Vegas when the first of the giant casinos is closing and changing to its 3rd owner. I'm sure Steve Wynn wouldn't have seen this happening.
