Episode Description
#Primm, Nevada is located just 30 minutes from Las #Vegas and has quite an interesting history and story to tell. Primm Valley Resort got its start as Primadonna in 1990 as served for many years as the area's flagship resort. Unfortunately it has fallen on hard times and the building today is a shell of its former self.
In this full Primm Valley Resort property #tour I'll take you inside and outside of the sad looking property. From the dead mall which sits almost completely empty to the casino floor which has been gutted for the Buffalo Bill's reopening, things are a bit shocking. The monorails sit abandoned, the property lacks paint and there is bird poop everywhere. But thankfully you'll still find some beauty at this struggling resort in the middle of the desert and I'll show it to you.

I apologize that this comment is a bit off topic. I have seen you guys mention a number of times on your channel that there are ways to get Caesars Rewards Diamond. I looked at the Wyndham Rewards Earner Business Card. Even though I have a very high credit score, I do not have a business, and it seems like this card actually looks to verify information about the business before issuing the card. And even though I have high status with some other hotel programs, it appears that Wyndham is not doing any new status matches at this time. Other than actually gambling or using the Founders Card route, am I out of luck? Is there any other way of getting Caesars Rewards Diamond that I am missing? Is there any article online that you could point me to with instructions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I used to work at that mall the year it opened, my senior year, at the Wilson Leather outlet store. That mall was insanely busy then, and my shifts would go by so fast because I was helping so many customers. Its crazy to see that its an absolute ghost town now. You didn't touch on it too much, but me being a Vegas local, the Sherrice Iverson tragedy was beyond sad. That guy that killed her was an absolute monster. Also her dad has some fault in this by letting her and her little brother run around a casino unsupervised at 1 am!

I was living in Henderson in 2015 and having trouble finding work, when I interviewed at the offices of William Hill. They offered me a job at the sports book in Primm. They said they could put me up in a room at the hotel and that if I could endure a year of living/working in Primm, then I could get transferred to a different location or even promoted to an office job. I initially accepted the job offer and they ordered a uniform and arrangements started being made to move me out there. But I was feeling increasingly uneasy about it, realized that living in such an isolated environment would be bad for my mental health so I declined the job in the end. After watching this, I'm so glad I trusted my gut! Phew! At least I got a couple great kitties out of it (my cats were kittens rescued from a parking garage in Primm!).

Seeing the mall like that hit me in the feels. Been going to Vegas a couple times a year since 2008, and my wife and I used to go to the mall with our little girls at the time to shop. I remember being on dad duty trying to keep my girls occupied while shopping. They were 7 & 4 in 2008. Good memories, and sad to see it in this condition.

They invested so much in the beginning stages of their current revitalization of Buffalo Bills, I have to believe that both Whiskey Pete’s and Primm Valley might not survive. Both hotels are closed and their casinos are sad, deserted, and honestly, liminal too. They’re on life support. I visited Whiskey Pete’s last night while heading back to LA and I couldn’t have felt more depressed about Primm as a whole.

We've stayed at all 3 properties in the past and ended up opting for Buffalo Bills as our preferred option. Rode all the rides, the monorails, eaten at all the various restaurants. To save money we would book a room at BB and then drive into Vegas to spend the days, then back to Primm to gamble the night away. Also made an easier return (about 40 min less) to CA when it was return day. Won a few nice jackpots. Once waiting for check-in at PrimaDonna won a $4500 Video Blackjack. Nice. Thanks for the videos, they bring back a lot of memories. We now stay on the strip, mainly at the Encore, but we miss those many years through the various changes of ownership at Primm Vallet Resorts, etc.

I actually visited this mall in 1999. They had tour buses running from las vegas hotels bringing shoppers. At this time it was pulling in major sales numbers for the shops. Barstow was slumping til Tanger built their center. It was a fun place to visit.

Thanks for the memories! My family and I moved to LV to open a store at the Fashion Outlet when it first opened in 1998. It was a kiosk that sold souvenirs near the entrance that was the closest to the escalators. We practically lived out of the Buffalo Bills hotel for about 4 months. I spent so much time at both the arcade in Primm and Buffalo Bills. Those were good times! It was around 99-00 when they closed the kiosk, and opened a store selling Mexican curios and silver jewelry where the Levis is located today. They closed that store sometime in the early 2000s to open a store on the strip. It's sad to see the state of disrepair the mall is facing :(

Thanks for sharing. Truly amazing how this is just gone down the drain. I remember shopping at the mall on the drives home from Las Vegas, hung over and eating at the food court towards the end of the mall. This was between the years of 2000 and 2010. It is so sad to see all big name designer stores shut down like that, in the mall. What a bummer! Even the three casinos at state line, prima donna, Whiskey Pete's, and Buffalo Bills are looking rundown. It was such great excitement coming down the hill on the 15 freeway traveling north and seeing all three casinos lit up at night. Those were the days…

I should add that most of my memories are from the early 90s to early 2000. Had a nice win one night on the video poker at that big bar at Buffalo Bill’s. This was after getting my ass kicked all night long. Felt good to finally pull off a big win. They even gave me a room for free for the night. Felt sort of like a high roller for a 20 something year old kid. LOL.

As a kid, we stopped at these outlets and Primadonna all through the late 90s and early 00s 2/3 times a year. I always looked forward to it and continue to go as an adult with my family and friends when we would travel to Las Vegas. I believe the last time we went was in 2016 because it was clear they were losing stores. It went from pretty full to 50% so fast, we just stopped going. I had a feeling driving by the last 5 years that this was the state of it.

Primm was such a fun place back in the 90's. When Buffalo Bill's opened the years before and after were so fun. I miss the giant human head sized cinnamon rolls for .99 cents in the cafes, the rides, the animatronics in B.B., the short lived train, the tram, cheap eating/drinks, western concerts, the employees were cool, and of course the gambling................change can be so sad sometimes.

Born in 89' and began visiting Primm and Jean in 93' at least 10 times a year traveling from LA. As a kid my grand parents would drop an elder cousin and I off to the arcade at whiskey Pete's. We would always ride the tram over the freeway to Primm and shuttle to Buffalo bills which had the larger arcade. I remember there being security added to the arcade after the Iverson killing. All three casinos used to be busy as hell. When we didn't stay at lady luck in vegas we usually would spend the beginning of our trip at Primm and the rest at Gold Strike. I fondly remember the fun I had at Gold Strike in their nickel arcade and would indulge in the free shrimp cocktails and 99 cent footlong chili cheese dogs from the casino coupon book. 😋 There was also another casino in the area called Nevada landing which was busy as well. As an adult I would stop at Primm to stock my ebay store with sale items from Nike factory, Polo, coach, and Tommy Bahamas. The mall was a place to catch a good last minute deal. Stores would have up %80 off sales weekly which drew a lot of shoppers. I remember all 3 property being busy with tourists and gamblers from the casino turnaround buses. It would get extremely packed when there was severe weather or bad traffic from the construction of the agricultural checkpoint. Business was good until covid hit. Primm valley resort turned into a ghost town and all the stores vacated the outlet area. The only attraction left on Primm was the lotto store which is on the california side of the parking lot. Sad to see how times have changed. These places were great attractions 🙁

Thank you for bringing us along for this video, it is so sad to see this once vibrant bustling property in such poor condition. MGM and Terribles doomed these casinos when they went out of their way to draw a more upscale crowd that was never going to be attracted to these properties. It cost them the crowd that had filled all three properties for many years along with a busy packed mall with big name brands like NIKE. You can't go fishing for the whales when you are only set up to cater to large numbers of minnows the regulars left, and they never came back. Although I'm sure the people responsible for destroying the business got to leave with a golden parachute as usual. I remember telling my wife when they started bringing in the high denomination machines and pushing the golf course that it was the beginning of the end for Stateline. An ocean of cars stuck in traffic, and you can't tempt them to pull off the FWY for a few hours to have some fun in the casinos, outlet mall or restaurants. or book a cheap room to just shower and rest until the traffic subsides. They were out of touch with their customer base, and it cost them everything.

@Karl with a K sometimes they cut corners when they build new buildings. Material they use isn’t a strong as it used to be either. So true, Staffing was always a issue. For awhile they did offer residential sleeping quarters off the main hotels. But it was a challenge finding those willing to basically live there during their off-days, and being fully staffed on their next scheduled work day on a consistent basis.. Cheap gas prices helped. Take away that, and the commute from Vegas was not so easy to justify and work scuttles were not convenient as a trip alternative for transportation. I remember how busy that mall area and Primm was in general. A work colleague serviced that area along with areas in Southern NV, and it was a challenge everyday to complete his responsibilities due to the time constraints that it entitled.

Thanks for video. I've been going to Whiskey Pete's since early 90's in my 20's. Then Primadonna & Buffalo Bills throughout the years. We learned about slots, comps, buffets, hotels etc from these 3 casino/resorts. Seriously we were young, not much $ & we really enjoyed all of these places. The mall, the $15 rooms, all u can eat at Primm buffet & Bullalo Bills, just so much fun. Gas was $1 so we went to the State Line EVERY weekend seriously. Bingo at the star of desert arena was comped & we got mostly everything free cause we went so much & earned alot of points. We learned all about casinos & won more than we lost. It was always crowded, especially on holidays. Once we grew up lol, we ventured into Las Vegas & never won. Things were more expensive & we always went back to Primm & Buffalo Bills to stay & would drive into Las Vegas to play. I guess we all get old. I miss the hey day of the state line. We are now in our 50's. We started going as boyfriend & girlfriend & we were casino virgins back then. Now older, more $ & less time. But we still pass by & stop to get gas & reminisce. And we finally got married in Las Vegas last year during the covid closure. So sad to see the condition of mall & food court. Whatever happened to the golf course? U didn't mention that. I felt like I witnessed the death of an old friend watching your video. We had a crappy car, not much $ and we really thought we had found our special place. That was 30 years ago, so much simpler & amazing how happy we were. People look at the state line now & it's worn down & I get it. But I cherish my experiences & thanks again.

WOW, I live in Henderson, Nevada. Wife and I stayed there regularly for over 20 years. We really don't go there much anymore. Throughout the years, we knew things were being scaled back due to the amusement park closing, Buffalo Bills closed for many years. Bus service completely stopped operating. Banquets and free gifts stopped as well. We've seen a decline for many years, but I'm totally taken aback by what I'm seeing now in this video, really shocked. Had very nice memories for over 2 decades, and now all we will have is fond and happy memories. Thank you for giving us an update!!

I use to work there years ago just after the Herbst's bought the property. I started as a cashier at the Chevron gas station. And then became a slot attendant for the casinos. And later switched to the race & sports book. I worked at all 3 properties including a part time job at the Eddie Bauer store in the mall. Primm was a busy place back in the early 2000's and I enjoyed working out there. It's sad to see what it has become today.

Been there many times. in the 90s and early 2000s from the high desert-Victorville here-they had Sat. bus trips to the state line- for $5 which included a buffet--We took the trips many times-a great deal. Sometimes on Thanksgiving again for $5 a trip there and a thanksgiving buffet with champagne. yes they had some good shows there as well--alas those days are gone

I had the extreme misfortune of staying at Primm Valley Resort for 2 nights in August of 2022 when they were the “Official Hotel” of The Vegas to Reno off road race. By far, it was the worst hotel I have ever had the displeasure to stay in. Ripped , dirty carpets, garbage lining the hallways, filthy windows….it was disgusting!

That pizza spot sure was the old buffet! Man it is so sad to see these properties like this. We used to love the great hotel rates we could get as NV residents. Made for a great staycation and the kids loved riding the monorail. And since the monorail was free it was a real bargain for the entertainment.

I know I mentioned something on one of your other videos but depressing is the right word. When I was a young sailor in the Navy Primm/Stateline was always a stop on the way to and from Las Vegas. With the little monorail you could leave your car parked and have a great time. If you had too much to drink you didn’t have to worry. Emotional and wonderful memories come to mind. Nicely done.

@Karl with a K not sure what your point is but we did spend money. And although it was nice it wasn’t a high-end or luxury property. I believe the rise of Native American gaming played a part in the demise of Stateline/Primm.

It's amazing that Buffalo Bill's opened on my birthday and I was never notified I remember when I was a kid my grandparents would always tell me to NEVER go into the bathrooms alone in Primadonna or Whiskey Petes because a man was going to kidnap and kill me in a bathroom I figured that they were just bullshitting me to scare me into not wandering around the casino until I was 14 and a casino employee at primadonna told that she was the one that discovered sherrice's body and I felt sick to my stomach and ran out of there My opinion on how Prim can bring more people is to have a high-speed Rail connected between Vegas and primm Since the rooms are pretty cheap imprim it would definitely be worth the investment because people can stop at Prim get a room there and then they don't have to travel the 30 to 45 minutes , depending on traffic, to Vegas by car. With that High-Speed Rail the travel time gets cut down by half. Tourism increases on both sides I know there were people that will ask where could they put the station for the high-speed rail well the perfect place would be the mall Kind of how like the monorails in Vegas work they're behind the casinos. Hell make the whole mall into a transit hub for Greyhound and charter busses as well.

When I was growing up in the early 2000’s it used to be packed and they once had a monorail station but then when we went back out last year it was sad a depressing to look at! It’s a shame what has happened to primm valley! Buffalo Bills was closed last year but there is hope for Buffalo Bills but still won’t be the same! Just a shame what has happened in the entire area in general!

I can't believe they reopened. Buffalo Bills/Whiskey Petes have to reason to exist anymore. Back before the days of tribal gaming these were the closest casinos for people coming from Southern California and there were shuttle buses that brought people on day trips from the Inland Empire. Now you have to drive past several tribal casinos like San Manuel which are much nicer properties. Makes no sense anymore. I remember staying there back in the 90's. Times have changed.

They probably plan to have regular concerts again and that's why they are moving over to Buffalo Bills. Used to hop both monorails all over Primm and ride the giant ferris wheel in the parking lot area and shoot um up on the Cowboy Log Ride with the family at Primmadonna, oh and of course the roller coaster you could hear rubble by while in your hotel room, never the same after the Iverson death. Gary Primm too was never the same and soon sold to MGM and was also invested in MGM, last I heard he was spending a lot of time on his yacht in Cali. We happened to be there just days before the little girl was killed in the Arcade bathroom, they closed it and removed the arcade. My son used to play games there, then suddenly it was all gone/closed. She was way too young to have been left unattended by her dad in the middle of the night, killed by 18 y/o Jeremy Strohmeyer serving a life sentence, now in his 40s, weird, very weird, very sad. Buffalo Bills has a large concert venue Star of the Desert Arena that always booked top names, saw Don Henley, REO Speedwagon, Bad Company and others at BB's. Won and lost alot of money in those three casinos. Whiskey Pete's had an incredible buffet at one time, actually as good as vegas.

It is a shame they can't copy all the things that South Pointe is doing right and revitalize things here. South Pointe is far off off-strip but they have a thriving casino, hotel, restaurants and ships there, and it's popular with people driving from out of town, and even some locals. It's really a shame so much money, effort and time have been put into these areas just to be left unused and rotting. The monorail shots show it all - a great idea to bring life to both sides of the freeway left for dead and covered with bird poop.
