I don't know: I respect your take and perspective on this................but I've been enjoying this immensely and I definitely feel this album as a whole does encapsulate that Southern California vibe and haze that she was going for and makes for a tantalizing listening experience both on headphones as well as for clubs. And I have to respectfully disagree with you on your contention that the album lacks energy or drive. I suppose I can understand to a degree how it may seem at first it does when following on the heels of "Plastic Hearts", but there is such teeth to the production and sound design on many of these tracks and her commanding, confident vocal kept pulling me in on tracks like "Handstand", "Violet Chemistry", "River" and so forth. And even when the production aims for more vibes, ethereal persuasions, Cyrus' husky vocal and some flourishes of Mike Will Made It-esque random interjections elevate the tracks enough without lowering too far into banality. Yeah, I'd probably give this a Strong 7 or Light 8 personally. Her career has been really fascinating to watch compared to most established pop artists I've found: especially considering everything she released between "Bangerz" and this record and while much of it performed well enough, nonetheless didn't exactly light the charts on fire consistently. Great content as always though Crash! 🙂

I think it was solid. Miley Cyrus is one of the most eclectic popstars out there and the best modern Disney Princess by a mile. Hence this album feels the most like a condensed version of all the things she’s been doing all throughout her life.

I really vibe with this album. It wasn’t too poppy for my taste and I liked that

It is legit impressive that even though Miley has had some pretty nasty lows that I can’t ignore (She Is Coming and Dead Petz being obvious examples), she also has a fantastic album in Plastic Hearts. As for this album, yeah I’d say it’s certainly not hurting anyone.

Dead Petz has some good songs, it’s very unique and experimental. Songs like “I Get So Scared,” “Space Dude,” and “Karen Don’t be Sad” are all pretty good songs, but I understand why a lot of people don’t vibe with the album. Some of the songs are very weird and almost too psychedelic, Miley was also at the peak of her controversial era when she released this album, so it was pretty easy to hate it when she released something different.

Those albums weren't necessarily bad just different. Pablo the blowfish and the twinkle song are pretty good. Mothers daughter wasn't my cup of tea but it wasn't horrible.

This is an easy listening music. She said "new year, new era, new Miley, new song" so don't look for her old kind of songs. She reinvents herself for every album. She could take risk to introduce new sounds because she's the executive producer. I love the album same reason that it's kicking to be number 1 in UK.

I definitely prefer Plastic Hearts over ESV. It was her best album, too bad it wasn't promoted as much as this album. From this one I could admit Jaded it's the best track for me for sound and lyrics

im surprised that you didn't say anything about the mixing tbh some of these mixes are awful imo but i have only given it one listen so far so idk maybe it'll grow on me. Favorite track at the moment is Handstand and it is not even close

Another plastic hearts enthusiast! Wooo! I can get on board with that. Also, I saw Sia on the tracklist, and as an autistic person I immediately was like *Nerodivergent fear kicks in* Why, Miley why!- Yeah, I agree. That's literly my only commentary on the record. Then again, I was quite spoiled on off of her last record. You say it had me very.....wait for it..... *JADED!!* Ok. Thank you very much for coming tonight *bows*

I look at the sleepiness as a benefit. It's the same kind of detachment Pale Waves was going for on their first album (which I agree with you is great, despite what came later). It's less 'eff you', and more 'I don't care'. I like that way more than the PM side, because those songs get way too repetitive in the writing.

I thought it was solid, like 7/10, but I agree that it doesn’t reach the level of great because of the relative lack of kick to the production. It’s always a shame when I can see an album being more but it’s held back for one reason or another.

Even though I think Miley should go in a more rock direction, she does have some good pop tracks and "Flowers" is a fucking banger.
