Lyrics:
So close no matter how far
Couldn’t be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters
Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don’t just say
And nothing else matters
Trust I seek and I find in you
Everyday for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
But I know
So close no matter how far
Couldn’t be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
But I know
Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don’t just say
Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters
Never cared for what they say
Never cared for the games they play
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
And I know
So close no matter how far
Couldn’t be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
No nothing else matters

This is an authentic contralto voice. It's the lowest alto range & the highest tenors. Some people even consider a women's deep octaves a type of falsetto. Not sure I'd go that far, but here she pretty much sings from the bottom to the top of the contralto vocal spectrum. She also sings with a dropped soft palate, which accounts for the slightly nasal tone. Stevie Nicks has a similar construct to her singing, but Miley has more range & power.

No offense to James, he’s a pillar of hardcore music, but this song... damn, it’s like she was forged to sing it. And I mean, Elton playing his piano is such a presence. And hearing him tell James to his face that this is one of the best songs ever written... I can see why that would make a grown ass man cry. I love everything about this. It’s magnificent. Next, I need Miley to record an entire country/rock/metal album of her own. I’m so happy she’s exploring the tougher sides of music. Her voice was made for it. Yes, but also less talented than the dozens of female artists that get overlooked in favor of her because name recognition and money. People are lazy, the industry is lazy. Jehnny Beth, Molly Sides or Mary Timony could have killed this 100 times better, but the industry shoves them into niche indie markets and you won't hear them on commercial radio.

@norman smithers oh my lord, please please tell me that you didn't actually put such a statement of this magnitude out there for the 10's maybe 100's of millions of Metalli-maniacs to see, Ay man you are gonna get a bit of stick from any of your friends who Like the 'tallica lads coz dude I'm telling you no-one and I seriously mean absof**kinlutely no-one on the face of the earth is capable of shredding their music the way Mr James Hetfield & the boys do especially when they're on point, which would have to be around 90-95 percent on any given day, sorry man I have been a fan for going on 34 years and I think they have performed at an extremely high level for almost as long as I've been alive lol, jeez you'd be pretty faarken hard pressed to find a band that have played as many shows as they have since their formation in 1982, the biggest, highest capacity and quality of stadiums, arenas, airfields and even Antarctica lol, freaking wow man they must be unbelievably fit, I think they deserve a Superbowl performance, it would be a crowning moment for the greatest hard rock/heavy metal/thrash metal band that have ever existed, we already hear a few of their iconic tunes at damn near every stadium where NFL football games are played, every game too it seems, why not get 'em on the stage to rip it up live for the 100 thousand football fans in attendance, and on hundreds of millions of TV's worldwide for all of the metalli-maniac-family to thrash til we smash Man that would be 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 🇦🇺🤟😆👍🏴‍☠️ #Metallica4life #TallicaSuperbowl #MetalUpYourAss 🤟🤟😆😆😆😆🤟🤟

I can’t remember the last time where I listened to a song with no expectations and ending it as a tearjerker. This to me feels like an enlightening song. The fact different musicians from different generations came back to record this shows it’s a timeless song. Elton John was right on Howard Stern, it’s definitely one of the greatest songs ever written. I’d even argue this version is better than it’s previous incarnation. I’m grateful to exist at the same time as this gem came out.
