I’m in process currently to go into the Army as a military social worker, I’m so excited yet afraid!!! I went to grad school with Dr. Crystal and this interview blessed me especially since I personally know her. Thank you for sharing this !!❤️❤️

I'm definitely interested in applying for the U.S. Air Force Clinical social worker position. However, I'm caught between understanding if I need to wait till being fully licensed as a civilian under my current clinical supervisor with close to 2500 hours completed in more than 1.5years of post graduate experience or just go for the Air Force position at this stage itself. I loved your guidance on knowing the ins and outs of what we can look for in the Military Social Work position. Much respect and appreciation for that aspect in your discussion with Dr. Adijat. Thank you soo much for this! I was active duty Air Force and I transitioned to the National Guard after earning my BSW and started pursuing my MSW. I am in my final semester now and would definitely like to commission after attaining my MSW

I was in the Navy for 8 years. I am now a disabled vet, and I am almost done with my BSW. I am going to go straight into my MSW and hopefully get a good foundation while completing that... but I wonder how difficult it would be with my PTSD rating?

yes you have to go through basic. the dod has lifted some age restrictions, particularly in the usaf.

To be commissioned as an officer and/or Direct commissioned in the Health Professions you will attend Basic Officer Training School. When I came in it was called Commissioned officer training school. I discuss it in the video.

@@crystalmcleod3388 Thank You Dr. McLeod for responding; Yes you did mention it in the video. I’m confused as to whether it’s the same basic training/ school that every officer go through or is it something specialized just for people entering as MSW, Psychologist, Psychiatrist. Ex. Suppose a 46, 49, 56 year old want to apply to the position ..is there an age requirement..I am asking because it was always a past known fact to be employed by the military you must pass through basic training as an officer.

Great question. I think that will depend on whether or not the school you want to attend requires a GRE. I personally dont know of any schools where I am located that require GRE for a Graduate Social Work Program. Thank you for watching.

GRE and GMAT is not required for all Health Professions career fields such as SW, RN, MD, JD, DMD, or Chaplain.
