"Milk It" is one of my absolute Nirvana favorites, top five. Ultimate grunge, wild as hell. "That is a really sinister song. Actually, ‘menacing’ is a better word, but there’s a lot to capture the imagination in different ways", Krist described it.
The song was written in 1992. The first studio attempt was made at BMG Ariola in Rio de Janeiro in January 1993. That demo was released on "With The Lights Out" in 2004.
A month later, Nirvana entered the Pachyderm Studio with Steve Albini to record "In Utero". For Albini, "Milk It" and "Scentless Apprentice" stood out of the rest of the material. He saw those as a big step for the band from their more melodic and mainstream stuff towards more experimental music. "There's a really dry, really loud voice at the end of 'Milk It' ... that was also done at the end of 'Rape Me', where Cobain wanted the sound of him screaming to just overtake the whole band", said Albini.
Unlike many Nirvana songs, "Milt It" debuted on stage after the album version was recorded. The first live performance happened in April 1993 in San Francisco. The last was in Seattle on January 8, 1994.
The bassline is like am amplified sound of a blind worm making its way through the dirt and the mud into the deep, with no particular purpose, just for the hell of it.

man I fucking love how heavy in utero is. I think krist was able to show off a lot more of his talent on bass than in nevermind. The bass really has a lot more rhythm or melody on its own in a lot of these tracks comparatively to just playing along with the kick drum or the guitar melody.

But, I definitely agree that he can only become better with experience, but I kind if specifically only mentioned nevermind cause I noticed much more complex bass playing on Bleach and incesticide comparatively to nevermind. But hell yeah, I cant express enough how grateful I am you posted all these jams with the tabs. Thanks my man 🙏

Thanks for appreciation, Ken! It does matter. I guess with experience you also learn to not overcomplicate things and to know what you wanna do:) While basslines on "Bleach" and "Incesticide" are indeed more complex (on average) than the "Nevermind" stuff, some of that complexity, imo, is excessive and came from Krist kinda searching for his style as bassist, if that makes sense.

I appreciate your videos and you do great work. Have you ever considered having the tab-roll slightly higher on the screen? The pause menu covers the information when paused.

Thank you! Yes, I had been thinking about the better placement for the tabs. Moving it a bit higher would result in the fret being invisible which is not good because some people need to see it. And when the tab is placed really high, the entire composition looks ugly and messed up. Also, apparently, some people want to see the face for some reason, so putting tabs to the top is not an option as well. But I now also do videos of clean bass parts without playing. In those, the tab is in the middle of the screen, so the menu won't mess things up.
