I know! Her saying that it was hard to stop making the movie, since she'd been shooting for 7 months when she was 19 was so touching. It was like hearing that the folks who worked on Lord of The Rings had a very bittersweet departure as well. You spend so much time on these projects and give so much of yourself to them and then they have to end at some point. It must be heartbreaking.

The Fifth Element is my all time favorite movie and it's because of Milla Jovovich's stellar performance in it. It still blows my mind she was only 19 when filming it because she embodies such a strong character with thousands of years of wisdom and strength behind her so convincingly... Well done! One of the things I really loved about Milla's portrayal of Leeloo is how convincing she was with the language. She spoke that fake "divine language" like it actually was her native tongue. That totally sold her for me. Such a great performance; I'd compare it to Heath Ledger's Joker.

It also helps that nobody of the Cast knew how her character would talk because Luc would not let the actors know. So in the scenes when we see everyone reacting to Leeloo talking in the old language, the visible confusion and amazement on the faces of Bruce & co is 100% genuine. :)

We "take them for granted" because they don't make our lives much more meaningful and have nothing truly beautiful or noble to them. In fact the things we appreciate are often related to nature, food or human relationships. I know what I could beat myself up for not appreciating is often stuff that I could simply do without or that could be replaced by something else... I've often wondered how to pronounce her name. Thank you for clearing that one up Mila. Leeloo is still one of the most unique characters in one of the most unique films I've ever seen. It's still such a favourite movie even though I've seen it umpteen hundred times.
@minmogrovingstrongandhealthy
@minmogrovingstrongandhealthy 8 ай бұрын
Her full name is Милица Јововић a English speaker would somewhat pronounce it as Melitsa Jovovich (or try "Me, lee, tsa" if this makes sense). There is no ћ in English so it's often becomes as CH the rest of her surname is kinda easy aside of that one letter. It's hard to be accurate with Serbian or Russian, for those who don't speak it, for example that is why there are thousands of western itereations of one and the same thing which further creates confusion and in this case they cut it short to just Mila which was lucky and smart to do. Her name still retained a meaning, "mila" means in Serbian someone or something that is tender in feminine form. A male form would be "mio". Another meaning of this word used in a sentence is "darling". (ти си ми мила) "Ti si mi mila", you are such a darling, also you are so dear to me, told to a female. "Ti si mi mio" same thing just for a male form. But as for conversions ironically this is the same reason why upon introduction of Vatican's Latin nonsense created so many wrong words and descriptions that historical people and events were completely taken out of context and altered. However this wasn't just a mistake, on top of mistakes they did this on purpose to confuse people and make them argue in future generations. A every day person will never question their authority and never go down rabbit holes searching for the truth. This same person is for whom these new languages were made, so it's easier to avoid historical facts and brainwash lots of us.

saw this as a kid in the cinema, even had a VHS copy of this.. LeeLoo (Multipass) is easily one of the most unforgettable characters of the 90s movies...

Now that I know what the role of Leelo meant to Milla, I love the film even more! I never thought that was possible. Thank you Milla, that it was you who embodied the spirit of Leelo so wonderfully and gracefully.

Truly an iconic character. 20, 30 years later, there are not many characters that still have that much of an impact of fashion and make a statement.
