The movie is a visual feast and was robbed of the Oscar for best wardrobe or costuming that year. The thermal bandages and in flight attendants are my favorite of the bunch.

A costume was too feminine for Prince? I didn't think that was possible! It's for the best that he dropped out because Chris Tucker, in my opinion, made that movie. He was so outrageous, so all in. He really made a name for himself from that film and deservedly so.
@Costume_CO6 жыл бұрын
+Kimberly Robinson I know, that's a bit of irony.

Love this episode. Gaultier is an idol. And the Prince blurb made me laugh out loud... too feminine for Prince... hahaha

No wonder why The Fifth Element and Leon the Professional seemed connected to me in a way that Leeloo and Mathilda’s has similar fashion taste.

My favorite costume is the 'thermal bandage' outfit. It stands out while also perfectly fitting in with everything going on in the film. It draws attention to itself, but instead of doing it in a way that distracts, it helps to draw you into the scene and the rest of the setting. The simplicity of it also sets up a great contrast with the more outrageous and outlandish costumes that appear later in the film.

Yes, love it too!

The ambitious, failed Dune project in many ways paved the road for Alien, with O'Bannon and Giger going almost directly from that film to the other. Fans can see the story play out behind the scenes by watching the "Jodorowsky's Dune" documentary (which is on Netflix, I believe) and the Making Of documentary on the Alien boxed set. Giger himself detailed his experience in his artwork collection book "Giger's Alien." Sorry, that wasn't really costume-related, but it's an interesting story in itself if anyone's interested.
@Costume_CO7 жыл бұрын
+MadTheDJ Thanks for your great comment! I loved Jodorowsky's Dune. Looks like it will be made but a different director, Denis Villeneuve.

Logan's Run video of yours said to come here. I did. Up-vote given on each. Had to search your home page first because there was no URL in the text to get here, and the click-on insert was for something else. Why LR was on my recommended list I can not explain, but it was so interesting, well, glad I viewed both. :) 355K views for LR, and a disapointing 15,546 for this one. Some of the others commentors remarks say things better than I could. My compliments for your work. Were band-aids allowed to be worn on LR? It's a serious question.

Thanks so much Cliff! Thank you for letting me know and I will look into it. As far as the bandaid question, I really don't know. Do you mean by the actors or the characters.

Steve Martin's vintage dentist costume is from Little Shop of Horrors, not Sgt. Pepper, just FYI.
@Costume_CO4 жыл бұрын
Hey Anne, I know it's strange, but he was a doctor in Sgt. Pepper wearing a similar costume to his dentist outfit in Little Shop. Here's the clip: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fMWPqKqkzdLGf6M.html

There is one thing I wished you would have covered. When the characters arrive at Fhloston Paradise, they are greeted by a group of Polynesian style dancers. While I am pleased they didn't use Don Ho style Hula dancers, I wonder why they choose want they did. Of course, this would be explained if those individuals were actual Polynesian performers.

@shammydammy26106 жыл бұрын
There are two Dunes...one the 1984 David Lynch movie and then the 2000 mini series which aired on Syfy. I prefer the costuming for the first one but they're both pretty aesthetically interesting to me
