They are alive, with the exception of the drummer, John Bonham. He died in 1980...and the band didn't want anyone else, so they broke up. Led Zeppelin was in a class of their own, and all the members were extremely talented musicians.

@@realnamerodneyother reactors manage to share their thoughts in two or so pauses. Or share their thoughts at the end. It’s not that we don’t want your thoughts. We do. That’s why we watch people react. But with so many interruptions. Your reaction becomes all about YOU and not the music. Believe it or not, it shows a certain disrespect for the music you’re listening to, as it totally disrupts the flow, the build up, the vibe of the music. Not trying to scold you, man, but just saying that your channel might grow more quickly if you cut back a bit. Agree or disagree, it’s no skin off my nose. As you said, there are many other reactors.

These 4 genuses are each the GOAT of their crafts, & together they were/are the GODS of Music. Every song they preformed is amazing, there may be a couple not your favorite, but it’s harder picking which ones are your favorites. They had their first rehearsal together on August 19, 1968, they finished tour dates Jimmy Page had being the last member of the Yardbirds. They played as the New Yardbirds for a few weeks, came back to England, & recorded their first album. Page also produced mixed & edited it, from start to finish over a few days, took a total of about 36 hours. It’s an amazing debut album, it was released on January 12, 1969. Their 2nd album was recorded in different studios, in different cities while they were touring, & was released in October (1969).it also was an amazing album. A great studio song to get a feel of the band is, You Shook Me, great solos of keyboards harmonica & guitar with amazing drumming. Two great live performances are Madison Square Gardens (1973), Since I’ve Been Loving You, but everything from that concert is FIRE. Another mind blowing live is, Earls Court (1975), In My Time Of Dying. Page plays the hell out of steel guitar, but again, they all are amazing. We all highly suggest diving deep down this Rabbit Hole. Thank you for your reaction.

"These guys are really good" you say - John Bonham (greatest drummer of all time); Robert Plant (top three front-man in rock history); John Paul Jones (top five in history as instrumentalist - piano, organ, recorder (Stairway to Heaven), acoustic guitar, mandolin and, of course, bass); and last but not least, that guitarist is Jimmy Page (argument as to whether he is best ever, but in top-three with Jimmy Hendrix and David Gilmour) - only member of band who has passed is John Bonham in1980 (just b/4 they were starting a tour in US that I was scheduled to attend in NC)...when he passed, the band disbanded b/c of how freaking tight they were...if you compare the studio version of this song to this live performance you will immediately understand just how much improvisation was associated with every Led Zeppelin live performance...i highly recommend you start down the rabbit-hole and compare studio versions of songs to their live performances...they were video-recorded live (as the original band - one concert in 2002 where Bonham's son Jason plays drums with rest of original band) starting with their first album in 1969 all the way until (to my knowledge) the last video-recorded performance of John Bonham b4 he passed in Knebworth in August of 1979...recommend from that show that you check out Kashmir and Achilles Last Stand...drums will blow you away...but best guitar live would be Stairway to Heaven live at this MSG show (think it was three shows over 3-4 days) and Since I've Been Loving You...the Zep Heads will follow if you travel down this rabbit-hole...thanks and enjoy!!

To make a claim that anyone ranks or increases their rank as a musician by being a player of the recorder is ridiculous. These top 5 or top 3 claims are so subjective. It's would be impossible to even compare Page, Hendrix and Gilmore with each much less others other they are such different players stylistically n. Seems a fair statement is then members of Zeppelin could hold their own on any stage and were as good a musician as anyone. BTW the real genius of Page was in the studio. Post 75 the drugs and money were visibly taking their toll. I want to say 73 but lets give them the benefit of the doubt. LZ is also my favorite band of the era.

@@caseystevens8302 also I’m a major zeppelin fan, but even I know that Greta Van Fleet has grown out of being more of a zeppelin imitation, and being more of their own, of course they do very much sound like zeppelin, but we all know that zeppelins first albums can be labeled as blues imitations, stolen from artist like muddy waters, howlin wolf, and many others, not particularly the instrumentals, which are in fact what makes zeppelins versions 100 times better, but it’s the lyrics being exactly the same, just fitted to the music that they played!

If I tried to do the impossible and make my top 10 Led Zeppelin songs, the studio version of this might barely make it at 9 or 10. But this live version is definitely top 3. Quite simply my favorite guitar performance beginning to end of all time. And there are times I can listen to this completely ignoring the guitar (or trying to) and still be blown away by what JPJ and Bonzo are doing here. If you want another absolutely mind blowing live from them, try Bring it On Home Live at the Royal Albert Hall in 1970.

Led Zeppelin was the biggest band of the 1970’s. They played from August 1968 to September 1980, when John Bonham, their drummer passed away from alcohol related problems. Each band member was the best at what they did, together they were magic. They were so diverse in their discography. I highly suggest you start with Led Zeppelin I, track 1 Good Times Bad Times, and go from there. Listen to studio first to hear the song in its pristine form, then watch a live version. Led Zeppelin improvised every song, every time they played it. You will never hear it the same way, ever. They were an album band, meaning they didn’t write singles or put out singles unless absolutely forced to, which wasn’t often. You have to hear the album in its entirety. Jimmy Page, lead guitar, produced all of their albums and was very intentional in the way he ordered the tracks. That’s why I suggest you start with the first and go from there. It’s the best way to experience the magnificence of Led Zeppelin.

This comes off of a movie made by them. The Song Remains the Same. It's a trip. It starts like a weird 70s rock band movie. Then, it turns into a collection of some of their absolute best live recorded stuff. It's a lot of crazy good music and being in close to the crowds of the era at the concerts. I think it's mandatory to smoke a joint while watching. It's like Up In Smoke that way.

As noted below, all are alive (and kicking), except for their amazing drummer, John Bonham, who had a tragic, but totally rock and roll demise (vodka-induced pulmonary aspiration). The band decided they could not go on as LZ without him, so that was the official end of the band (they did go out on top). Singer Robert Plant and guitarist Jimmy Page have toured several times over they years (and released one album), while bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones transitioned into one of the most in-demand producers in rock. The three of them did perform one more time as Led Zeppelin for an epic 2007 reunion concert, with Bonham's son, Jason, sitting in on drums. Plant continues to record and tour, and Page continues to blow people's minds with unexpected appearances, like his recent surprise performance at the 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. I was fortunate enough to see them during their 1977 tour, and over 50 years later, I still get chills thinking about it.

Jimmy Page is the best guitarist ever. What ever he does on the guitar is meant to be. The drummer is the best ever. The bassist is a diverse musician who also plays keyboards. Plant the best singer - tied with Freddie Mercury for the best vocalist of the rock era. Led Zeppelin does many different genres and are not stuck with just one.

John Bonham “Bonzo” was the best rock drummer ever. He can do things you wouldn’t believe, and still be in the pocket. Both Jimmy Page (guitarist) and John Paul Jones (bass, keys,) were studio musicians, and Robert Plant (vocalist and and Bonzo (drummer)were only 19 when the band was put together in 1969.

UK band created in 1968 by guitarist Jimmy Page. Jimmy also produced all their albums. They broke up when drummer John Bonham passed away. Yes, back in the day, a band had to know how to actually play their instruments and sing live because there weren't safety nets like backing tracks, computer syncs, etc. This isn't hair metal or anything pop - Zep didn't do pop music; instead, they'd be considered hard rock/heavy blues, however they often incorporated other influences like rockabilly, funk, R&B, folk, ethereal, prog, jazz, etc. They were known for their improvisational style when playing live (no song was ever played the same way twice) and would easily play 2-3 hour long concerts with no intermission or opening act. As someone else mentioned, the remaining three are still alive and vocalist Robert Plant regularly performs, bassist John Paul Jones rarely, and Jimmy, even more so. One small critique of your reaction - please do not pause during the guitar solo, regardless of band; it really makes for a discordant experience. I hope you learn and react to more Zep.

The visual quality is so good because its definition far surpases digitl. There is no one to one comparison because film has no pixels. The pixels are discrete bits of visual information wheres as the film is essentially continuous visual information. That is to say film is made up of tiny grains of light-sensitive chemicals that capture the image. These grains are randomly distributed across the film, allowing for a continuous range of tones and details. If the film is shot properly and stored properly its appearance is unmatched. Although CCDs are not far from passing film.

This was painful to hear the poster, interject with how much he does not know about real music, stick to Hip Hop. It takes real musical talent to do what they did back in the day, live performances from the masters. Jimmy is probably one of the best at playing and composing guitar. I really feel for this younger generation that has to listen to the phony nonsense that passes for music today.

@@realnamerodney I didn’t think you were being disrespectful. Lead guitarist Jimmy Page turned 80 in January, John Paul Jones (JPJ) bass & keyboards is about 78, I think lead singer Robert Plant will be like 76 in August. Sadly the greatest drummer John (Bonzo) Bonham passed away in (1980), the band knew they couldn’t continue without him. That was the thought if any member quit or passed away. Plant turned 20 the day after the bands first rehearsal, on August 20, 1968, Bonham had turned 20 in May 1968. Plant still sings, & has had an amazing solo career.

Brother you talk way too much you should listen and then make your comments all of them are still alive except for the drummer who passed away he OD'd at a young age and then Led Zeppelin quit playing every now and then they get together and have a concert and the drummer's son who's also a drummer plays in his daddy's place and he's just as good again you talk way too freaking much
