Shame that happened too, even if the whole thing was far from totally their faults though. Milli Vanilli was nothing without them (despite being nothing more than "posers" to the songs they performed to), along with the true singers either for that matter.

It was too bad that this highly successful band sadly needed two separate sets of totally different people in order to be what it was. If only they had just used everyone from the start, instead of trying to fool the world that the faces were doing the singing, when it was pretty obvious there was no way it was them doing so too.

They were simple guys that accepted a very good work offer and never thought how far they could get. A game, but not a crime, I don't feel offended by knowing if they sang or not, I was happy listening to their songs and it is enough for me.

@@kiasky1 Have you heard their story from start to finish? The details of how they were tricked by an unscrupulous manager? The contracted studio singers were tricked, too. Rob and Fab weren't going to continue putting up with not doing their own singing and made a plan to leave him. He then told the world of his OWN evil doings out of vengeance against them. He never suffered the consequences, only they did.

Also I want people to know that one of the reasons that I entered into journalism was. Because of these segments. I would watch their noon tv hour, and they were one of the few channels that would regularly bring black music artists like Brandy and Beyoncé all the time. A lot of channels did not do this on the regular in the 90s. I thought wow! That’s so cool. I would love to study that in college

The media are assholes...these kids were simply trying to survive and was caught up in a trap of deception. Obviously they wanted to sing for themselves but wasn't allowed to. The success of Milli Vanilli wasn't exclusively because of the singing voices, these gentlemen held a captive audience! The way Rob and Fab looked physically and danced, they didn't need to sing! They held down live shows!

I agree. I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT FOR YOU GUYS TO HEAR ABOUT THEIR LOVE FOR MUSIC REVIEWS! This station- Channel 8, was one of the few channels that would give black music artists a platform to speak on the interview couch. I didn’t see that too often in the early 90s. Every at this station and the newsroom were really cool and loved RnB music haha. I remember one time they did a rap battle after my lunch break. This story was really sad. I felt really bad for the young man who died by suicide. It’s not worth. So sad!

Rob and Fab wanted to sing for real, but their producer scammed them with a contact to sing to pre-recorded songs. Hindsight is 20/20 but yeah, the criticisms are understandable, but there’s two sides to every story and in the end, they were ultimately not at fault. They were two young men who were exploited by their producer who couldn’t acknowledge the their true potential

Sad part is that they were exposed by one of the past singers that got fired, of course when they did interviews you could hear the accent. Then "in living color" made a skit that made it even more obvious. Basically Hate destroyed them, not the fact that they didnt sing their own songs. There were plenty of singers back in the day that did the samething, I honestly dont think its any different from all these singers using auto tune, or even rappers using a ghost writer.

This story is tragic. Two young, talented, gorgeous young men met a snake. Both young men barely spoke English and signed a contract written in German. Fab didn't speak German, without an attorney or manager. Frank the snake used those young men, abused them, made millions off of them and then threw them under the bus. It cost a precious life (Rob) and they lives they might have had. Both could sing, had killer dance moves and gorgeous. There was no need for any of this. I am glad that Fab was able to pick up his life and he has a beautiful voice. I watched the documentary in 2023 and the truth finally was told. Frank the snake should be held accountable for his actions. The music of Milli Vanilli is still great i listen to it often and watch the videos. Much love to Fab.❤

T.B.H., it's not like they couldn't really speak, nor understand the language at all. They couldn't have actually pretended to sing the songs the way they did if they didn't know it. But their noticeable thick European accents (especially in Rob's case) should have made it pretty obvious from the start that there was no way it was really them doing the singing, and must have been someone else behind the scenes doing so instead.

This is so funny! Prayers to his family. I was just watching the Milli Vanilli scandal at my work place’s break room TV. One of the reasons why I wanted to work in tv news was because of these segments. The anchors would regularly bring black music artists during their noon news show and give a platform. They’ve also give many young journalists of color an opportunity to do well. I can think of several black reporters that are on network tv now because of them. I interned at Channel 8 during my last year in college. There were over 100 applications. Too funny! I would have loved to hear the control room’s reaction haha! Great reporters! I laughed at the Lafayette square mall part from the main anchors haha! Good memories!

Don't think for a minute these guys or innocent and got pushed into that , they knew every second of the day they were phony 1 million % fraudulent. Stealing from fans that spent like $10 on that CD or tape.

Did you hear Patricia. She said that it was april 2 nd. Rob was found dead on an April 2nd, with multiple head wounds. The mob always keeps it in the same realm. Hello Frank.

Everyone was envious. They had everything. So the competition were just looking for a way to destroy them. You could see it. Watch Arsenio and his attacks. Pure jealousy.

I thought Rob Pilatus was the handsomest man ever. I don't think he was a great singer or the best dancer but they were entertainers y traveled y put in their time. The academy of arts y science should have done their homework before doling out their so very precious award. Don't worry fans, God is flawsing his teeth in heaven y giving this planet of snots a good dose of humility a.k.a. coronavirus. I thought that Fabrice was a better dancer but Rob's face was simply stunning.

@@camerondavila5881 it's too bad that God gave you the face that he did y your pants are all tied up in a knot. I simply adore the likes of Rob Pilatus. He is a woman's dream come true. Judging from your photo y personally I want to say that you suffer from daily bouts of constipation .

I am writing a book called the tales y woes of Mrs. Pilatus. The money earned from the book sales will go to struggling artists in Germany who do not receive the same benefits that rob y fab did not y ultimately leading to Rob's death. I would provide fame support groups, pro Bono lawyers, black producers, y so forth. Rob shared the disadvantages y now the gaps must be filled. Dankeschon.

As a devoted fan of milli vanilli I try to watch this video daily. Going in it was crooked from the start on both sides so how was the end result to come out straight. I favor Rob y fab side of the story because they young y farian had experience on cover ups previously. What I don't understand is why Rob had such a small inexpensive wooden coffin when his net worth was 1.5 to 5 million. Y what was he doing in friedrichdorf when he could have caught a direct flight to indiat from Munich. So many stars y musicians are isolated in motels y hotels were they murdered. Don't buy what is told just because words came out of mouths. Do your own research.
