These are becoming quite prominent in the scaffolding industry in the UK. Nice and small and powerful enough to match the bigger and heavier 18v wrenches. Thumbs up.

By the look of it, the m12 is tuned for lower speed and higher torque than the m18 hex, which makes sense - one is a wrench, and the other is a driver. I bet if you compared max torque rather than speed, m18 would have lost.

In the tools specs they probably test with new bolts and nuts which have a lot less friction in the threads than the lugs you were using. Where as there were other testers that used new bolts and they found that it was doing more than Milwaukee claimed. So it all depends on the job. But it is by far my favorite tool to use. Also, with the last part, if you have to put an adapter on something to make it do a job, it’s probably not meant for that job... no contractor is gonna buy that stubby to do jobs like that. The stubby is made for shear brake away torque vs running screws in.

Milwaukee tends not to bullsh*t the ratings they advertise. You can expect their tools to achieve most of what they say it will. Another thing, I notice you didn't use a high output battery on it. They don't lie about those batteries either, slap a high-output on that impact and she'll do even better. Nice video 👌

Large nuts and bolts in metal assemblies mainly, it's chiefly considered an industrial and automotive tool. Even on the later it's overkill on most things on a passenger vehicle besides the lug nuts and some suspension components. They are sometimes used to drive very large screws (with an adapter) and bolts in construction applications though since they're rated to produce way more force then even an 18v driver.

impact drivers provide additional rotational force on the anvil by hitting it, this gives you more torque but avoids stripping your screw. Drills don't care about your screws, yes there are hammer drill/drivers but those are used for wood and their concept is rotating force + hammer action.
@Tk3997
@Tk3997 3 жыл бұрын
Probably because they work better then drills driving almost any form of fasteners and it's not even a contest if you need to take them OUT. The good modern ones are basically like lightweight impact wrenches (hell some of them can take off lug nuts). Seriously good luck removing a bolt or screw with even a marginal amount of torque or corrosion on it with a drill. They're frankly just more versatile. I work in automotive, but I have an M12 Driver because it can not only take out and install various sorts of screws, but also most bolts and nuts outside the suspension with a fair lighter and more handy tool.

You need to learn how impact drivers and impact wrenches work. They do not build momentum. They hit and stop, hit and stop. There is no momentum.

When you are removing lug nuts, use two hands and hold the tool tight. You are loosing much of your impact force by letting the tool flop around and vibrating.
@nbtmcid
@nbtmcid 3 жыл бұрын
You are incorrect. It isn't a drill.
@billytwowillies
@billytwowillies 3 жыл бұрын
@@nbtmcid it’s an impact, and I own the exact same one. A drill simply twists and will stall or bind, impact driver hammer to loosen or tighten. If the tool shakes then it’s wasting the energy of its impacts and won’t loosen as well. This particular one is bad for it because it’s so light and you can easily use it one handed. Most impacts are larger and heavier and require 2 hands
@nbtmcid
@nbtmcid 3 жыл бұрын
@@billytwowillies Mate, it's impacting so fast, 60 times a second, that it doesn't matter how you hold it. The way the chucks are designed you can spin them back and forth while driving and it makes no difference. You can loosen while turning the tool in the opposite direction and it will still work fine. The casing basically moves independently from the tool due to the chuck design as was shown in this video.
