I've been using a SkilSaw Mag77 for the last 25 plus years. Until recently, I never really thought about a cordless circular saw and that I might need one. A job I was on pushed me in the cordless saw direction, and I'm glad it did. I have used this saw on a few jobs now, I like it. Not having to run or work around a cord in certain situations is advantageous. I'm still getting used to running the saw but have enough time on it to say I would recommend it, for light use. As an everyday job site saw, not so much, but I don't think that was what it was intended for. This saw could never replace my Mag77. For what I'm using it for, trim saw type stuff and fencing, it's a solid little saw.
I hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for watching!

Being an M18 user, this will be awesome for trimming down 2x4's and plywood. Thanks for the review

It looks like it works well. The only cordless tools I have are drills.I did buy a Makita battery chainsaw. I told my son he can have it and put it in his four wheeler. It wasn’t for me. I think it was only a 18 V one battery. There is other battery chainsaws that look like they work very well.

I'm with you on the battery powered chainsaws. There are some solid runners out there, just not for me. I love two-stroke!

My same saw struggles with rip and cross cuts, especially on pressure treated lumber (5/4x6 deck boards) and when I used it on OSB plywood. I finally got tired of it and decided to try the fuel version and will pick it up today. I would not recommended this saw to contract workers who are cutting wood all day with the tool. They will eventually toss it because of frustration.

Yeah, this is a trim saw, not an everyday job site saw. For light duty use and trim saw type stuff, it works great. Using it on site all day as a framer or cut man, definitely not what it was made for. I'm curious to see how you like the Fuel version. Hit me back if you think about it...

@@EightWheelsRollin I will do some test cuts on the same wood to see how it compares to the standard saw.

@@EightWheelsRollin I compared the M18 6-1/2 Fuel vs non fuel circular saw. I tested the saws by doing multiple cuts around each side of a 6x6 pressure treated piece of lumber and multiple rip cuts through the 6x6 pressure treated lumber and did multiple cross and rip cuts of a 5/4 x6 pressure treated deck board. I used a new stock 24 tooth blade and a new Diablo 24 tooth blade in both saws with a fully charged 8 amp battery. The fuel saw cuts were much easier and I could move faster through the cuts with this saw with no noticeable change in the blade speed or motor sound. The non-fuel saw was a slower cut and you could hear it struggling a bit during the rip cuts; the saw could not keep up with a similar pace as the fuel version, so I had to slow it down a bit. The non fuel cross cuts were slower, too. Additionally, I ran the battery down to 2 bars to see how each saw performed. The non-fuel saw was slowly fading during the rip cuts, while the fuel version continued to cut at the same strength, power and speed. There is definitely a difference between the two saws.

That is GREAT information! I appreciate you going as far as you did testing both saws, you left no doubt. Based on your testing, it sounds like the Fuel saw is definitely worth the extra money. Thanks again, and thanks for watching!

Cordless saws are far safer for the job site than corded.

@@EightWheelsRollin "Because, everyone wants to 'cut the cord' without actually cutting the cord. Haven't you ever been cut sheat goods and have the cord get hung on something or you or helper accidentally step on the cord.. The fewer cords on the jobsite, the better. I've got 2 hands, that's all GOD gave me, and if I'm making a quick cut, or what should be a quick cut, I'd rather not have to concern myself with 'where's the cord at' in relation to what I'm about to do, 'holding the piece I'm about to cut', or more than likely, needing to manually lift the blade guard while making the cut so guard doesn't hang on the edge of the piece and throw off your cut, ruin the piece, ruin the cut, make you have to start all over." If you do it your self long enough, you'll come to this same conclusion. No cords speeds things up, and gives you less to concern yourself with.😎

I hear what you're saying. That said, a saw is a saw. Corded or cordless, they both have a sharp, fast spinning blade attached to them. You have to engage your brain either way or things are not going to end well for you. I think It's all in how you grew up and what you are used to. For me, I'm always aware of the cord and where it is in relation to the cut. I have my processes in place and I have never cut through a cord. Do remember, safety is relative. What you may consider "unsafe" because you aren't used to it, may be safe to me because I am. As far as productivity, I can see how not having to string cords could speed things up for you. Thanks for the comment!

@@EightWheelsRollin Yes, I'm well aquianted with cords lying about the shop, or the worksite. I stand by what I previously stated. The less cords, the better. I'd prefer not be concerned for myself or others tripping over them.(I have bad knees🤠.) A couple years ago, I would've been the 1st argu that battery power output hadn't reached the point of being able to replace what comes from the wall outlet, however, that is no more. The latest versions of pouch-cell batteries available from FLEX, or Milwaukee, and DeWalt[those batteries are also lighter.]are a sign of things to come. Pairing with brushless motors are making my life a heck of a lot easier.(And arguably, 'safer' being that motor brakes are standard on brushless cordless saws sold North America, and most of them have a softer start.) I have corded tools also, I still use them all the time. That being said, I plan to employ, or deploy, or implement more, and more cordless tools, where practical to do so.. but, that's me, that's my shop, that's my work bay. I'm also 57yrs old, arthritis is a fact of life for me. It didn't used to be.😕 I used to be the guy that picked up heavy stuff for other people💪, not as much anymore. I've enjoyed our conversation and I really appreciated the video. It was well done. Keep it up. 😎

Hey, I totally get it. The progression of battery powered tools over the last 10-15 years has been incredible. There's no denying that battery powered tools are nipping at the heals of corded tools in terms of power. Milwaukee is really leading the race in my opinion. Good conversation for sure. I appreciate the kind words and you taking the time to watch the video and comment. Take care, and all the best to ya!

Great that you got a cordless circular saw but you got the weakest model. You should try the rear handle one and compare it to your corded one.

It works with my battery platform and works well for me as a trim saw. I wasn't looking to replace my Mag77. To be honest, I doubt I'll ever get a rear handle battery powered saw. I like my Mag77 too much. All the best!
