Unfortunately it looks like the part that I'm cutting is molded into that nose cone. The only way would be to manufacture a completely new part. It can be modified with a drill or a rotary tool as MCT suggested in his videos. I only used a lathe because I have one.

Very nicely done, looks like it came from the factory like that. I'm just a bit confused about the reason for doing this instead of buying a 1/2" impact wrench direcrly. Is this cheaper or more compact or is there another reason for this?
@LucidAutowerks

Thanks! Apparently the impact driver hits more times per second than a standard impact wrench does. Size and price were absolutely a factor as well. There are some good deals right now on the 1/4” hex impact since Milwaukee will be offering their new generation very shortly.

Awesome work! I did the same mod and used my dremmel and its pretty spot on. I was thinking what if you shaved the advil instead on the lathe to save the head just incase u want to switch back. Would you think its possible or it'll more difficult?
@LucidAutowerks
@LucidAutowerks Жыл бұрын
It would be possible but holding the anvil would be the tricky part. You’d have to maybe make a holding jig of some sort. Also I’m not sure if the anvil has been heat treated so it might need to be annealed back for machining and then hardened again. You can avoid that process by using a surface grinder and some sort of rotary fixture.

It doesn't look like it would be possible. At least not easily. The Bosch gear case is all one sealed unit according to the parts diagram. The Bosch gear case screws to the front of the driver's clam shell where the Milwaukee's gear case is inside of the clam shell.

@LucidAutowerks Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the 3/8" anvil that I bought was .520" and the original 1/4" hex anvil was .590" so to make it work you'd need some sort of bronze bushing to take up the difference. It's possible but not as straightforward as the 1/2" anvil.

Should i use 16.5 bit or 21/32?
@LucidAutowerks
@LucidAutowerks Жыл бұрын
Both would be a little too small. If using a drill, I'd use whatever Man Caver Tools used in his videos. The 1/2" anvil is .661" and you need a little clearance. The 16.5mm drill would be .656" and the 21/32" drill would be the same, although drill bits often make a hole larger than intended. The best way would be to slightly undersize the hole and then use a reamer to get to the size that you need. Ideally you'd want to end up at around .665"
