QUESTION OF THE DAY: What do you cut most often with a reciprocating saw? Do you use it for remodeling, new construction, demo, or something else? Are you as impresses as I am with the power of this 12Ah Milwaukee Super Sawzall?

I’m a carpenter by trade with most of my business being framing. I’ve used a recip saw nearly every day of my working career cutting anything from truss tails to J bolts and even allthread at times. I couldn’t be without it. Until recently the cordless tools on the market, even the lithium ion, didn’t cut the mustard on my jobs. There’s such a fast turnover rate and high demand that has to be met so we push every tool on the job to its limits and beyond. I’m glad to see the cordless technology finally catching up to meet these demands. I got into the yellow battery platform before the red had a lot of the specialized carpentry tools available but I’m slowly making the switch. Milwaukee can’t be touched right now in the cordless market in my opinion. Their corded tools have taken a hit on quality and durability though which is a shame.

Damn 299 for a 12 ah battery and rapid charger with case is a crazy good deal. My how times have changed.

I spent the last two weeks with my M18 Milwaukee Fuel Sawzall (6.0 Ah batteries) to clear a badly overgrown fence line of Juniper, Aspen, and Pine trees. Felling, limbing, bucking trees 6 to 16" in diameter. Used a 12" Diablo pruning blade (carbide tipped teeth).

Milwaukee makes beast recips. Sawzall is tops, both tool and blades.

Just bought one. I already love it.

I trimmed and cut down most of a tree today with this thing. With weight being an issue, I just used a 3Ah battery! Don’t try a tough job with a 3Ah. It’ll definitely overheat and stop working... but it made short work of small branches (that I didn’t have proper tools for)

Good comparison demo. Made my mind up on model to buy. I am remodeler of 30 yrs. Started with milwaukee due to offset cam stopping bounce back. Thinking on going battery power for ease of dragging cords. Home Depot generally offers deals on (not the best of any tool) Your video sold me that I may be wrong this time Thanks.

I do HVAC work and almost went with the millwaukee 12.0 battery powered sawzall but when I felt in the store how heavy the battery alone was that was 2 much so I went with 9.0 and 5.0 battery set. Might pick up a 12.0 battery one day

I personally think they should put battery in line ahead of handle as a drop in. I also believe they need to realign the handle upward to coincide with the curf of saw blade like the corded design has had forever. I wore two breaks of skin on top of thumb from handle rub during repetitive cuts of some plunge some straight. But all had to readjust to cut with handle to compensate for lack of handle being aligned with curf of saw blade. If that makes sense. The machine may cut faster. But I question weather it truly is faster when you calculate in the new model over thinking and hand maneuvering calculations for misaligned tool to saw curf.

I've actually used mine to cut down 2 20ft pear trees. Obviously not the preferred tool for the job, but it worked quite well.

Well Mark I bought the Home Depot sale 2720-22 Sawzall. Charger and Battery and soft carrying bag. It is definately a heavy saw. To heavy for all day use in awkward angle places. Overhead or shoulder length, cross cuts of walls sheetrock, studs whatever. Great for just down cuts due to weight. Which is seldom an advantage in remodel as seldom are down cuts done with a sawzall in my experience. . First day with saw I was very impressed as it made 3 cuts through 4" cast sewer drain and vent pipe, and several stray cuts with only half battery power used. But very heavy to hold as it gnawed through at recommended speed setting. Which with steel was right on as far as speed. I liked the selector. Topped off battery. Next day 2- cut through 8' of lathe plaster, pine studs and sheetrock. Battery was dead before I started another cut. That surprised me that it was dead. But had other work to do so no big deal Recharged battery day 3- of bath remodel demo. Lathe and plaster cuts, rotted floor and floor joist removal. I pulled the trigger to start another cut. The sawzall would not restart, no apparent reason. I then checked everything . After a few minutes of nothing happening, I pulled the trigger, saw started again. I thought over heating was the issue but saw felt cool. My corded has never quit in more prolonged dogged , rugged, non stop demo cuts. This concerned me. Next day 4- same thing random stopping. After last cut. To start a new cut, not while cutting. Then start again. I am calling manufacture tomorrow. Have you or anyone you know had this issue? It's not the safety lockout. It does not seem to be overheating, it does not seem to be variable speed adjustment. Battery connected properly and full charge. Currently a bit nervous about my investing in this expensive heavy , but possibly not, heavy duty sawzall. I like the cordless idea.Also, the saw handle also seems to be angled a bit different than corded model of old, making blade cut efficiency a muscle memory redirect adding another layer of awkward to the feel and cut in awkward spaces from corded model of old. Battery placement is also an issue causing me to rotate blade to what I call the " up" cut side to get battery out of obstacles along cut path for any cut. Currently not feeling the love for this Milwaukee product. I probably would have been better served with the 5 amp model and 2 batteries. Much more streamlined and lighter for all day use. You should do a cut test and run time test between the" boss" 2720-22 and the 5 amp model.

I just cut 1/2 inch 8X8 tube with diablo blades , this saw, has power.

My Milwauckee M18 CSX only works for a second or two and shuts itself off. After that, the LED turns on and off 6 times with small pauses? Also, when I press the switch sometimes the diode just lights up 4 times with a short pause and the saw doesn't work? When it appears, then I have to remove and insert the battery again (to erase the error) and then the saw works again for a short time? As far as I can see, the mechanics are correct. I found the machine in the trash and saw replacement didn't work. I cleaned and lubricated the clamping head, but there is no metal support and maybe that is the reason for the failure (protection)?

Made my mind up ,I have two DeWalt 60 volts and they're both slower than molasses.. I'm switching to a Milwaukee sawzall even though I'm on a Dewalt platform

I bought and I'm still using my corded Milwaukee Sawzall that I bought in 1984. I'm probably on my third cord.

That old corded is still a good go to.

Hey Mark, update on milwaukee sawzall 2720-22 . I called support. They asked if I wanted a return call rather than wait for next available person. I said yes. That was 3 days ago. I am not tapping my fingers waiting. I am replacing a storm damaged fence. 60' of cutting 3 2x4" stringers every 2 feet into easy carry pieces. Saw cut out and quit again. Curious. I removed battery and placed it back in receiver. That didn't work. So I jiggled battery the saw fired up. Apparantly it is an electrical contact issue. I think that is going to be an issue that needs to be addressed from a design and engineering standpoint. In my opinion and 30 years of remodel. Sawzalls take a serious beating from drops unintentional, to kicked across the floor to be out of way of letting down some thing removed. This saw is a beast,. It did all cuts today with 1 bar left of energy. But I believe by design in the field. It would need a little to much babysitting to not break it. Especially when comparing to abuse a corded Milwaukee takes from my experience in use. .

This may be a dumb question. But out of all the Milwaukee saws, which one do you think is like a jack of all trades? I cant afford to buy a lot of power tools haha. Just need some type of saw for multiple cutting needs. thanks!

Found one bare tool for 135 super sawzall should I snag it or try to haggle it a bit don’t have any 12 ah battery’s only 5s an 6s any one running 5s or 6ah batts on it

What does it mean when the LED lights up 8 times (4 times fast), a total of 32 times and the machine does not work?

You need to get the M18 Fuel 7-1/4" circular saw with the 12amp battery. You won't go back. Aside from the M18 fuel impacts, that saw is the most impressive tool I've ever purchased.
