Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche

Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche

Күн бұрын

For many of us, being in the present can be very challenging. We are either caught up in the past or future. In part two, Mingyur Rinpoche teaches us the importance of being in the present moment, with the mind and body together. He also leads us in a guided meditation on resting in the present moment. You can discuss this teaching in the Monthly Teachings Forum under the topic Mind and Body Part 2.
This video includes subtitles in English, German, French, Japanese, Portuguese, Chinese, Thai, and Russian.

For all those who are busy or just trying to accumulate different meditation techniques, here is a brief overview. Please do reply and tell me if I have missed anything. Body Scan 1. Close your eyes. Be present in the body - feel your body from your head down to your toes, just notice the sensations. 2. Move and focus your awareness gradually on your forehead and slowly scan down your body from your forehead to your feet, trying to relax each part and letting go. 3. Stay in the present, feel the gravity, feel any sensations and the body itself. 4. Relax 5. When you are done, open your eyes and rest a couple seconds. 6. You are now free to do your work. If you feel pain or other sensations and your body cannot relax that is fine - that also means are you are relaxed.

HA HA :D to think it was this simple all along. all those years striving and searching for truth, and in the end all that is worth knowing is this awareness which is practically nothing the intellect could ever fathom, and all you have to do is to relax and it all comes back to you XD you really always do have the choice, don't you? Your world can be filled with petty concerns - or it can be like that open endless August sky :D no wonder the "just watch" method was bugging me so much. Why keep focusing on all that crap when it holds no meaning. ha ha sometimes I can't help thinking that life really is merciful! and meaning or not, that existence is just too wonderful :)

Sir, I must be the person least suited for meditation. I suffer from beginners luck plus honestly the whole thing is so familiar to me since I have had to cope with this overactive and noisy brain all my life, so I fell into it easily. But I don’t have a calm bone in my body and meditation training - even the relax your body type - all at some point just seems too contrived and constricting to me. Unnatural. At first I really liked it. It was far more effective than all other things I have encountered in my life that gave my mind a break in a fresh and not mind numbing way. Or at least it was something I could do whenever I wanted to. And it has taught me surprisingly much even in the very short time I’ve tried it, considering I originally only was interested in relaxing my brain. But I’m also pretty sure it has had some negative side effects, because I’m always on the brink of feeling perfectly fine and then REALLY agitated, something I’ve never been before (I do have a temper though ha ha). Plus this is very uncharacteristic of me, but the people in my life that I always thought would always be in it, lately the thought of cutting all ties with them and never looking back has surfaced. In the past this would have made me feel like a horrible person and would even be impossible to begin with since to a very few persons I’m probably the most constant and loyal person you’ll ever find. But now I’m finding myself becoming more and more disenchanted by them. We get into fights and I don’t even care to fix it all that much like I used to. As I said, I’ve suddenly become a horrible person with a cold heart. But I don’t really care. Another thing this meditation has brought with it is a hypersensitivity against everything even the tiniest bit unnatural. As I mentioned earlier as soon as something starts feeling just a bit too contrived or controlled or stale, I can’t stand it. It’s like I automatically recoil from it and just won’t go there. I’ve always disliked those things, but I was able to tolerate it before. Sir, I started typing all this in hopes of seeing some solution, but nothing comes up. I made the mistake of never really meditating properly, but instead just playing with my mind on a whim whenever I felt like it. I never sat cross-legged and all that. So now I can’t drop it even if I wanted to. And as I said I was always aware (in the normal sense) of what that hyper mind of mine was up to anyways. Now just a bit more. And I never go into full hypermode as I used to nor into total mental exhaustion, both of which would result in a break at some time. It’s like I’m constantly on the brink of a complete still horizon and then stormy waves out at sea. Nothing is really happening but this giant mass of energy is right there looming. I keep typing, but nothing comes up. Gah! I’m really out of options right now. But it’s also a bit that I don’t care too much. Like even if there’s a storm, the horizon is still there. But at the same time I’m not interested in distracting myself with something useless. Averting my eyes has never been for me. But then again averting my eyes from what and how exactly? Doomed if I do and doomed if I don’t - or exactly the opposite. Gah I really don’t know what to do

Ha ha just made up with my mom - and in a really spontaneous and funny way as well XD we’re still laughing. Still don't know what to do. But now it matters less :D Sorry for filling your comments with weird stuff. It just seems that i keep being some hyper weirdo no matter how hard I try not to be :D Remember your compassion and patience! ha ha I bet it's not always easy being a monk ;)

Mente, corpo, juntos. E por favor sinta a gravidade no corpo. E relaxe os músculos em seu corpo. Apenas relaxe! Orelha. Atrás do pescoço. Garganta. E ombros! Apenas relaxe. Na suas costas. Apenas!... Ok! Está acabado agora. Obrigado! ......... Namastê!
