In this video, I react for the first time to the american artist Richie Kotzen's song “Remember”. I analyze his amazing performance, explain and demonstrate some of his vocal techniques and I'll tell you what I think made it so great. This is an amazing tune and I am so glad I finally reacted to it!

Hello, gorgeous! I'm Lolli, your Fairy Voice Mother. I am a voice teacher & vocal anatomy nerd specialising in contemporary techniques. I have a degree in vocal performance, and I am studying for a masters degree in voice pedagogy. I sing all the time in styles such as pop, jazz, rock, metal, soul, Hindustani, Carnatic and I am constantly learning and practicing new vocal skills. I just bloody love singing. It's my favourite thing in the whole world, and because I love you, I want you to sing too. I believe everyone can sing, and my mission with this channel is to break down techniques that are so often portrayed as something to be exclusively accessed by people with a special talent. Well. Special talents can be learnt, and I am here to teach them to you.

The entire Mother Head's Family Reunion album is pure gold from start to finish. Not only can he sing, but his guitar skills are incredible - this song barely scratches the surface. He often doubles what he's playing on guitar with his voice, sometimes for extended passages. You'd never believe this guy was in Poison back in the day.

I'm really tired of a lot of people saying Richie's voice sounds like Chris Cornell. And some people say Richie is imitate Chris. The person who most influenced his singing style was Terence Trent Darby. He was mentioned it in some interview

@@mazzle657 in saying that I happen to luv Richie’s ability to meld his voice & guitar 🎸 as One! I’ve known about D’Arby for 40 years but some never have especially those who grew up listening to Chris Cornell. Richie is definitely influenced by the Philly soul sound like I am having grown up near there. He’s soulful & can shred with the best of them!

Richie is one of my favorite singer-songwriters, and the fact he can play the guitar like no other makes him an elite talent. I saw him with his other band, The Winery Dogs, last year at the House of Blues in New Orleans. His last solo album was released on his 50th birthday and is called 50 for 50, and it contains a track called "Confession" that blows my mind every time I listen to it. It truly showcases his enormous vocal range and, of course, his uniquely gifted skills as a guitarist. I have not seen him perform it live, but the studio version is truly stellar. I would love to see your reaction, and if not check it out just to enjoy his gifts.

He did a cool jazz fusion album that took me by surprise. I think it’s called the intergalactic jazz fusion experience. There’s another one called Vertue that just goes to show how skilled he is. You’re probably already aware, but I figured I’d throw it out there.

Thanks, @@slappywag7210! I do own the Vertú album, but don't yet have The Inner Galactic Fusion Experience. I have all The Winery Dogs albums and several of Richie's solo albums. Heck, I even own Native Tongue from when he was with Poison. Oh, and I have the Smith/Kotzen album as well. Like I said, he's one of my favorites. 😁

Check out the Winery Dogs song How Long for a good example of him singing what he's playing together. Richie actually does that sing and play sync technique a lot. He's so good at it. Girl I envy you that you are just now discovering him. He has 21 solo albums and 3 more with his super group the winery dogs. His last Solo album has 50 songs on it. I primarily know Richie Kotzen because of The Winery Dogs. You are very correct about his vocals being a continuation of his guitar. The Winery Dogs have a song off their debut album called "Regret" that is in a similar vein to this one. Their rockers are awesome, but "Regret" gets me in the feels every time. They also have a cool live cover of "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" that's worth seeing, along with their harder material.

Richie originally had no interest in singing. I think when he was still with shrapnel, they told him they wanted him to sing and he was like I’m not a singer and they told him well, you better figure it out.😂 if I’m not mistaken, he mentioned that he took a couple cues from Rod Stewart and Bob Seger for his vocals and then he released Fever Dream, which became one of my all-time favorites among everything else he’s done.

🎀🎸🎀 ...... It is just six strings and a piece of wood - from an aging tree that proudly stood - a craftsman made it sound like it should - a boy looks with wonder and wishes he could - make it tell a story like older boys can - make the six strings feel good in his hand - but with practice and patience he's not just a fan - he learned to make sounds as he grew into a man - sounds became songs and strings became voices - some of us never get to make these choices - but listen we can to an artist in bloom - we all sit together or alone in our room - as the six strings are played with hope and with care - we sit in wonder of this man standing there - he plays , he sings , the stories unveil - we all are dreamers and some dreams prevail 🎀🎸🎀 love , Loochay

Is it bad form to make negative comments? I'm ready to be crucified and flayed alive. It didn't grab me. From the comments so far I get that he's like Chris Cornell, Michael Bolton and Al Green singing an Aretha Franklin song. Maybe I'm being too harsh as it's nearly impossible to be original. My comments are very spontaneous and possibly ill conceived. After a while I often bend to the knowledge, wisdom and experience of our dear Lolli. Apologies to Richie lovers.
