Well well well.....fun times ;)
I think I'll try to fix this in a future video, or see what the company offers for replacement. I'll likely take it apart, like I plan to for my n14 one. I think the N14 one I have failed in the exact same way. Lots of potential for these parts, but the QC and build quality severely lets it down. If these were priced upto $350 but much much better build quality I'd have no issue paying the price.
Long story short between this metal valve cover and OEM it's a lose lose situation. The only one I can recommend is the RPM POWERED N14 valve cover for the N14. Super expensive but you don't have failure like this and the OEM one. Super quality piece!
Once again, for what it is I wish this valve cover really just had better build quality. Naturally being metal you should reduce the failure point of warping valve covers and such.
No MINI OEM valve cover has build quality issues. They do suck and have PCV issues and warpage but that's to be expected from a plastic poorly designed pcv system and cover.

I have the same engine and often think the noise of the engine is wrong however mine sounds more or less the same as yours. Not the quietest of engines are they! Thanks for uploading 🙏

If it sounds like this is has a vacuum leak. They should be pretty smooth with just the injectors being noisy and the occasional heat shield that likes to rattle

Next time you need to grind down a screw head, wrap the threads in 3 layers of paper towel, stick the screw in a drill, tighten the chuck only tight enough that the screw doesn't move... Don't go crazy. Run the drill against your sandpaper or even the Dremel at low speed. You'll get a nice even grind this way.

Where did you buy the aluminum valve cover? I have a 2013 Mini Cooper Countryman as well and been looking for a aluminum valve cover

I installed mine but had to reseal the pvc plastic part which had weak gasket. The same as on your video. I unscrewed the whole top section and resealed with oil resistant gasket sealer. and put back together. I have to redo the rear drivers side screw hold on block and the right middle screw due to broken bolts from previous owner. Still trying to figure that out screw hold fixes on this block

I used helicoil to fix 3 holes that previous owner of this engine stripped out. They work fine but I’d probably use a time sert next time

@@iissac22 helicoil was pretty easy. Works well as long as you don’t have an over bored hole. Helicoil is cheaper. I have a few videos I filmed while doing mine I can either send you or I can post it on KZfaq shorts or something. I might make a video of it but haven’t looked over it yet

Mine I run the RPM Powered R400 intake GF’s white mini I run the ECS Carbon Intake

I don’t think so but I don’t remember. I’ve never had issues at the gasket without RTV

Just another Chinese cheap component. I learn this lesson few months ago, when the return oil line from Mamba it started liking oil. For my experience I will never replace an Oem component with something made in China by Chinese. The only upgrade which I consider a valid choice is From Rpmpower bilet component over 1600$ Anyway I wish you good luck
