Ebike build with the mini cyclone mid drive motor. Powered by the dewalt 60 volt flex battery. Controller is 60 volts and 42amp peak.

Sweet build man, I’d love to get ahold of all those parts (or another mid drive). I have plenty of dewalt batteries and would love to see a build process on this or something similar. Super cool man!

I would go with the BBSHD for ease of installation. With an aftermarket controller you can get really good performance. BBSHD really wakes up at 72 volts

it's all about gear ratio with mid drive systems. I've had mid drive ebikes pulling Wheelies from the start with just 350W motor. And that was a small hoverboard hub motor converted into mid drive. I've built powerful e-bikes using powerful motors. So I know the difference.

The Dewalt 60v Flexvolt battery will only push out 3 amp-hours which probably will only give you 5-6 miles on a charge. Good for short runs around the neighborhood. Cyclone controllers have internal electronics rated for a max voltage of 80 Volts. Lots of battery choices. Ego 56v, Echo 56v, Greenworks 60v and 80v, just to name a few.

Great build. I am need of a smallcontroller for Cyclone 3000W motor. Don't want to buy a cyclone controller their website is confusing me. Ibike uses 52V battery.

Bruh I’ve found a lot of luck using power tool batteries and electric lawnmower batteries like EGO 56 volt (52 volts) or Kobalt 80 volt (72 volt) packs. Lot of these companies like to market their packs as higher than nominal voltage. I’ve also had luck using eBay to buy power tool/lawnmower packs and you can buy adapters to them online too

How did you make or find the battery bracket that offers the flexvolt function? I have regular 20v adapters only. I know it needs to push on the battery pin to switch to 60v. Thanks

What’s the discharge rate of the 60v Dewalt battery I’m looking at the same build except the bafang 1000w kit. Controller is 38amps.

I’m not sure what the max discharge rate is but it has 21700 cells and has handled me using 42amp controllers so you will be fine at 38amps. Keep in mind that you’ll need to install an aftermarket controller on the bafang bbshd to run past a 14s (52 volt nominal pack) the dewalt flex volt is 15s (55.5 volt nominal) so at a full charge it reads 62 volts which will either blow the stock bbshd controller or just not run. Bbshd at higher voltages really shines though and it’s nice having a small light pack for short trips! 🤙

I was using the 3AH pack and it had a range of about 4 miles on electric alone but it was also drawing 2-2400 watts. Dewalt has a 4AH pack that would be slightly better

Horrible range 😂 maybe 5-6 miles on throttle only. It’s not an efficient motor but it has great torque.

I would suggest using the kobalt “80 volt” high output battery. It’s really 72 volts nominal and uses the Samsung 40T cell which allowed 35 amps continuous and 45 amp bursts. Great deal for the money

@@JRich808 can you measure the bottom bracket of your bike? I have a bbshd motor for 68mm bottom brackets that I could install and design to accept a 60 volt adapter. Would need to install an aftermarket controller cause bbshd is designed for 48 volts and you need the dewalt 60 volt adapter
