I see so many mom's with pages on Instagram their babies and little girls in little tops and shorts, like mini teens, it's upsetting they are putting out their photos everyday making them public figures, ffs thinking their kids are celebs while pedos watch and screen shot

as a kid, I loved minpops... it was my introduction to ABBA and other great songs... as a kid you don't know the adult meanings... back then we weren't in the offended over everything mode we're in today.. remember cartoons? as kids we can watch cartoons with adult sexuality and adult jokes merged into it and we don't pick up on it till we're much older...

+Ruby Doomsday Ruby, no. This song is within her range (considering I was just listening to a kid covering Problem By Ariana Grande and she nailed it. so yeah, anyway) . It's not very high to begin with and she's in the same key. The only true effect is overdubbing. However, Joanna F. is a better singer than in this song and yes the album version was much better.

+Artcurus Just because some kids can sing Ariana Grande by no means all of them can, and this little girl clearly didn't have any training or anything. No joke... listen to the highest note in the song -- it's a different kids voice dubbed in. There's no mistaking it.

Ruby, if you haven't heard the actual albums, then it's easy to make the mistake. Joanna F is actually a good singer. She and Joanna Wyatt are the primary ones responsible for what I like to call the Mini Pops sound, they do quite a bit of the backing vocals on almost half the tracks on all the albums, the harmony is clean and distinctive. Listen to Video Killed The Radio Star, Joanna Wyatt has the female lead. The backing vocals are Joanna W. and Joanna F. doing harmony on overdub.

When I was the age that I first heard House of Fun I just thought that was precisely what it was about. A house of fun. The allegorical nature of the song never occurred to me. I remember watching this show as a little kid.. It was one of my favourites.. I wanted to be a minipop.. I begged my mum to take me to the auditions that were advertised but she said no (I wouldn't have got through in a million years because I can't sing lol) but I remember watching this little girl singing this song and my mum was saying over and over that a little girl shouldn't sing a song like that.. and I didn't have a clue why she was saying that.. So really while the lyrics are inappropriate for a child to sing most of the people watching were kids and didn't know what most of the lyrics meant.. Kids just enjoyed the show..

That's funny - I can totally relate. I was given this record at Christmas by my Grandma, who was clueless about it, but my mom made me trade it at the local record store because "little girls shouldn't be wearing makeup & lip gloss" & I now realize it was because of this song. On the cover of the record, this little girl didn't have a shirt on & my mom was not excited about that. On some album covers, they edited a shirt on her. Our mom's weren't alone in their dislike for it - I just watched "Bananarama? Nah, it's MINIPOPS !!! (retro telly)". Even the mom's of the little stars weren't thrilled. :) I was so totally innocent & had no clue of the adult connotations of this & of so many of the other songs I loved & sang often & loud; especially Sheena Easton tunes! :) Still Love her! I was bummed to have to trade it off, but I got in trade Chipmunk Rock, which was awesome for a 2nd grader with little sisters. Listening to this now, I am glad mom insisted on trading it away because some of it is rather excruciatingly off tune, but the Chipmunks rocked the house.

I absolutely loved Mini Pops. I was about 10 when this was on and watched it every week. I wanted to be a Mini Pop. It's so cute. The critics are missing the point, this was a children's programme and the target audience was children,not adults.

I remember seeing this as a child in the early 80's and of course being the age that I was it all seemed so innocent to me. I don't think it had a damaging effect psychologically on the kids although it may have arguably encouraged them to behave precociously. That said, how many kids like to play dress up and being grown ups? Never the less was something inappropriate here and it doesn't bear mentioning as we already know what that is.

This by the way reminded me that when I was 8, I suggested to my first love, who was a blond angelic bombshell to 'sleep together' which she readily agreed on. So then we went for the business to sleep side by side on the floor on a blanket. (For explanation, this was in the countryside during the early sixties, which entailed more innocence, less supervision and much less paranoia, than nowadays).

_Kidsongs_ creator Carol Rosenstein (then working at LWT) became particularly disgusted when a fellow employee showed her a recording of this episode. She did reluctantly include her own version of this song in the video _Kidsongs in the Neighborhood,_ but rewrote the lyrics to make it more kid-friendly and refer to said video's setting/theme (e.g. "night time is the right time, we make love" became "morning is the right time, breakfast time").

They should have changed the inappropriate lyrics for this song and this kid is way to young to be wearing all this make up and clothing in my book. That is why I like the modern K-Tel Mini Pop Kids and Kidz Bop because they usually remember to block out the explicit stuff. I get why this show was so controversial and cancelled. I don't see what the problem is, it's the adults that are sexualizing the whole thing, NOT the children, the children are the only innocent part of this entire program, who didn't sing these songs when they were a kid, only difference is the Camera is switched on and it makes adults feel uncomfortable, and you have to ask yourselves (WHY?), What a shame it didn't become as big as Kids incorporated, that thankfully didn't suffer with taking itself too seriously.
