Building a very small rocket mass heater out of scraps in my garage so that I can keep doing projects when it is below freezing. I've wanted to make one of these mass heaters for a while, but now I have to because it is too cold to do other stuff.

I am a engineering student and currently taking thermodynamics, no matter how the teacher puts things I have really hard time understanding. Your example with the cold pipe and the dense air was brilliant, thank you for being so awesome and taking the time to explain these cool and important things on your channel, they are some of my personal favorite parts of your episodes. BTW also because of you I am now a HUGH fan of my hero academia, Thanks again.

Awesome video. You’re a legend for making it super straight forward. Thank you for “de-hippyfying” the rocket mass heater!. I agree, it’s far better to have an understanding of how and why it works, that way you can take that info and make it work for you and your situation. Can’t wait for the next vid.

Great video as always! I had never heard of rocket mass heaters until I watched this video thank you ^^. Stoves are still really primitive they usually have horrible efficiency and are not safe if they are not set up properly. But even in this age a lot of people have to use them to heat up their living space, as they don't have access to natural gas or it is just too expensive for them. A cheap and efficient solution would be wonderful! The rant at the last 20 seconds was sad.

Love the videos mate! These are so helpful as I've always "got" why RMH's are efficient but its sooooo nice to hear the science behind it, so THANK YOU! Also you gotta give credit to some of these hippies that figured this style out. I definitely think it was like some creative dude in his mud hut with an empty steel barrel pondering, "I wonder if.." and he was able to come to understand the basics of what happens without knowing the real definitions. Then his idea was grandfathered by a few peeps and all they know is "Do the thing, and thing happens" I feel like that's most of the hippy knowledge atm.. They don't know the actual names for things, but they get that grampas weird invention works, but not totally sure why it works. You looked at it and have been like, "Yeah that makes sense, actually really cool design grampa.. let me add the engineer into it and make it even more awesome - HOLD MY BEER HIPPY GRAMPA!" Then you made us this even better version! Which I have copied with a few changes that suit my situation better and love!

Love this video and learned so much about the logistics behind everything! But be a tad bit nicer to the hippies. Technically RMHs was probably designed by some cold dude who just observed his fire and thought "I wonder if-" a bunch and came up with this design. Which we are blessed it finally got known and shared and now you got it so we can get the real perfected design. There will always be people who try to claim something that isn't their design and copy/benefit. But most hippie channels or old website and books are just trying to get the design out there to help people who need it. You've got all the logistics understood.. you should do a video about why RMHs are safer and better then traditional wood fireplaces/wood stoves. Something to give to state/province safety codes so we can finally move to an efficient, cheap and safe heating source options. My RMH in my garage is amazing and I'd love to replace my wood stove in my house with one.. but insurance won't allow it. Help us out bro and let's get these legal for house installations!

@pml103
@pml103 5 жыл бұрын
14:48 not really the chemical part is just after "hight enought temperature and enought oxigen" more temp = faster reaction aka burning faster. You can call that a catalyst enought oxigen to keep up with the burn rate so you have efficiente and complete reaction. Little reminder that incomplete reaction when burning stuff result into nasty carbon monoxyde(CO) instead of carbon dioxide(CO²) and CO will kill you from asphicsie.

Brother Jaruis, am feeling like just have stumbled on near perfection, in large part bc the science + 1st/2nd/etc "rewrites" for your marvelous monster. Couple burning qs if I can engage you on them... What's the ash clean out method? I've seen a grid screen that holds fuel but drops ash into a clean out area that looks promising. What size wood have you found to be too big? Any thots on attaching removable extender sections at the fuel feeding section to allow new fuel to steadily slide down into the burn chamber. Any thots on diameters/lengths etc ratios of the cold Jeckle / hot Hyde twins wanted for smaller and more squat spaces? Ponying up with patreon in honor of this, and that fucking amazing Avatar lamp!!! My game is inventing new ways to save pollinating insects in Oregon. This is an ideal counterpoint. Maybe will add drone water heating function to my Nautilus. Sea going critters that they be.... 🐝 well!!
