Here is a Mini-Z AWD MA-020 chassis, using the DWS rear end at 98mm and wide front track width setup. This DWS system, or double wishbone (MDW100), includes parts to do 90mm or 94mm. Let's try it. This requires a light reassembly, but shouldn't take long at all.
The longer 98mm setup uses this larger frame. With less room to work with, the 90/94mm frame is much simpler. I'm also reverting the car from a touring setup back to the counter steer (CS) drivetrain. This means replacing the open gear diff with the modded rigid axle (MDW024). To implement CS, the ring gear was shifted quite a bit back. Let's verify that the DWS bulkhead can accommodate it.
With the rear end reassembled, let's test suspension movement. With the shocks installed here.
The other ingredient of the CS setup is the modded spur gear. On the left we have the regular 98mm spur gear. The other is the 1.875 ratio 90mm spur gear. I have a video from a couple of years ago describing the process of my CS mod. With the DWS put back together in the 90mm wheelbase and CS configuration, we can see it's totally fine. Everything fits perfectly together.
As part of the CS setup, the front one way differential (MDW017) is back replacing the gear diff.
Since practically all 90mm autoscale bodies are narrow, let's revert the front to its original narrow configuration too. The front is now in the narrow track width configuration. This MA-020 is back to its narrow and short 90mm wheelbase, with the CS mod, but with the DWS rear. With this done I can throw the 911 GT3 RSR body on the MA-020. It's always nice to get the wheels to fill the arches properly!
