Once you put a few miles on them they did…it was due to the mediocre fit & finish of the components at the time…in fact, I don’t think they got a oil “tight” bike until the Evo came along…some would say the engine that saved HD.

Yes must leak and need tuning every once a month on a sunny Sunday and polishing for at least 3 hours every other week ,oh and it must be chain driven so the inertia rattle on chain and drive sprocket wears main driveshaft every 6 months. Then it'll be authentic!✔️

I had a 57 Panhead and the sucker would leak more than the Exon Valdez in the 80's. There was an adjustment to oil the primary chain using a dripper mounted on the side of the case. Every time it would jiggle, it would vibrate some engine oil and lubricate the primary chain going to the transmission. So in reality, it was a good thing to find oil under your ride after it had parked for a bit. All the accumulated oil inside the primary cover, would leak to the ground. It also helped the dust to stay down. Nowadays, it is worrisome finding oil under your ride anytime!

greetings, from across the pond, over here in sunny Melbourne, Florida. I always wanted to build a little V-Twin, I was even going to try building one with a couple of five horsepower overhead valve lawn mower engines, I may still do that one....but, I can guarantee you that the motor you got there, probably cost almost as much as an actual V-Twin. yeah I'd love to know the price and the specs of this thing, how much power, etc. that thing's super cool. hey, one question. the engine didn't have enough fly wheel weight inside the crankcase, or is that just an extra flywheel on the outside, just too smooth it out on the stand? I'm sure I can help you figure out a clutch setup for that thing as well. just need to know the application, what you're going to put it in, and all..😎💯💯💯

that would be perfect for a 3 wheel morgan build. maybe c channel rails, the power output would need to be 90 degrees then a chain to a fixed rear wheel, maybe some touring car a arms and steering and a body is gonna be hard but what about a plane model body cut down

That’s amazing. Now all you have to do is make it leak oil from the primary cover located on the left of the engine because of bad seals or o-rings as well as make it leak oil from the drain plug and starter areas.

Where you talked about mounting a starter is where the original 6 volt generator would mount. The very last year models were made with a 12 volt generator and only the last year had an electric starter that hooked onto the primary drive at the clutch/transmission location
