This method is brilliant! I can’t believe after 8 years this is the only video I’ve found that uses paper towels for grout. It is so much easier than dealing with real gout or plaster. After my sample piece which turned out so realistic I’ll use his method for the whole fireplace.

I just received a 25 pack of cup holders for this. I'm going to go around the frame of a mirror and give it to my husband for Father's day. I think it's going to look great in his man cave. I'll probably have to hot glue them down, then go over it with mod podge to get it to stay down on the curved edges. Thank you for the idea!💗

You can wet the cut tray and press it flat until it drys into a flat sheet. Also you can add water to the glue and use tissue paper in layers and press a large area into stone shape.

Do you wait for the paper towel to dry before you start laying the "stone" or does it matter cause its all glue?
@WhereTheGnomesLive
@WhereTheGnomesLive 3 жыл бұрын
I always let it dry to the touch then continue, just makes it easier for adding the stones, less slippery. Since this video I found a dot of hot glue to set them in place is much faster and then spread the pva glue over top once they are all down

You would have to weather proof it with an exterior sealer but I think daily water would eventually break it down regardless of the sealer. Weather proofing is good protection from rain but then drying out in between rainfalls
