Nice video. I laughed pretty good when you were saying it's not for kids anymore. I had a doodle bug with 212 but with a centrifugal clutch and it was still a wheely machine. I warned 3 of my friends about it but they still wiped out lol. By the way this is metalfabcreations on instagram

Cool build. In my opinion, DB 30s are best suited for a centrifugal clutch set up. They are prone to wheelie with just a swap let alone a TAV 30. I do like the short chain though, after putting one on my ct200R I totally get it. That thing is nice, I like the seat spacers, I'm stealing that move!

After building this one I totally agree! it ended up getting a centrifugal clutch later on.

@@HaslipCycleWorks I just watched Ike and John from Cars and Cameras cut into a motovox frame to fit a TAV 30 and I couldn't stand it! That's why I went with OMBWarehouse.com , Eric (The Grey Goat) put together a bolt on engine plate that gets your motor up and forward so there is no frame cutting! Completely bolt on and totally worth it.
@HaslipCycleWorks

fatbuddycat we are on the same page. Luckily I only had to remove one bar to fit this one together. Torque converters have their place but it’s hard to beat a clutch for top end. TC for big tires and take off. Check out my trike build, fully built motor but still went clutch. Think I learned my lesson with the db30 torque converter, sure did lol. Not to mention that torque converter came apart on my while riding it at near full throttle. Banged up my leg pretty good and put a couple holes in my arm.

@@HaslipCycleWorks the cover is such a super pain, I ride my CT with out it! I tighten it all the time to be sure. I'm switching to a longer threaded rod with locktite and a hole drilled for a king pin/castle nut . It's really up to the key on the shaft to make everything spin, not the torque on the bolt. I'd just locktite the bolt but that is ridiculous to do if you plan on servicing your ride. I wish somebody could just go ahead and design a shaft or better yet an attachment for the shaft to create a no tool release that also holds. This day in age with machining technology someone must have it by now.
@HaslipCycleWorks
@HaslipCycleWorks 4 жыл бұрын
fatbuddycat you would think right? I used a TC on a go kart build after my little fiasco but changed the bolt for a longer one and chased the threads on the crank, torqued to spec and loctited. The plastic covers are useless for sure. If I ever do another one it will be held on with pins and be made from aluminum or stainless so that it will actually provide some protection.

Abel Martinez thank you for the view and compliment on the build. The video could have breezed past all the information that is pertinent to someone trying to build their own, but that wouldn’t do them much good. Looking forward to seeing your video on the subject. Have a good one.

Kart nerds thank you. The ones that know get it. This channel and these videos are to show enough to make people unintimidated so they go and build their own creations armed with the knowledge they need to be successful at it. I’ve just put a new champion 196cc in my doodlebug and put a new 3/4 clutch on it as well. The problem is shaft sprocket doesn’t work with the old chain. I realized it takes a #40 chain. So does this mean my old rear chain sprocket won’t work either? I just want to know what to buy? Thanks great swap!!!!
@HaslipCycleWorks
@HaslipCycleWorks 4 жыл бұрын
Jeremiah Stewart your assumption is more than likely correct. Gopowersports and other retailers sell a sprocket adapter for the rear wheel. This would allow you to change the rear sprocket to most any split sprocket of your chose.

What difference does it make using a clutch vs. Torque converter? I can't afford a Torque converter at the moment but wanted to know if it would be worth it in the future(I'm doing this exact same swap).
@HaslipCycleWorks
@HaslipCycleWorks 2 жыл бұрын
The torque converter will give you more down low and allow you to run a larger tire. The centrifugal clutch will give you the most top end but may slip with bigger tires or more weight.
