I'm so sorry for the pain you're feeling and having, I'm a 19 yr suffering chronic back pain, L3'L4 & L5, I can relate and agree.. those who have never experienced this type of pain has No Idea and should never speak on or against anyone who's suffering.

I suffer constant debilitating pain in my spine

I have stenosis too and also have Kaiser in California. I’m in Southern California near Los Angeles. After going through 3 years of various pain management procedures I’m getting a referral with a surgeon with Keck usc . It is possible ,just keep pushing and change doctors or locations if you must. Don’t give up.

Well, I’m going to try to get in touch and see if he can at least point me to someone who can help. It’s good to hear of someone having success with a back surgery.

Sharon here: I am so sorry to hear what you've been through, and continue to go through. I have stenosis in my neck and now have been diagnosed with lumbar spinal stenosis. My ability to walk and go through normal chores has been very limiting. I feel for you.

I too have spinal stenosis in my lower back and cervical spine. I am a woman of 83 yrs but I walk so bent over that I look and feel 110! Injections didn’t last even a week.

Will a neurosurgeon know by my bone density test whether or not I am a good candidate for a fusion?

I can now see that I am getting slower and slower in relation to my walking. I am 82 yrs young. I had about 15 -20 sessions of physical therapy. My insurance would not cover me for any more sessions.

On your injects did they do a nerve block or a transforminal spinal epidural. They should do in the hospital with a fluoroscope, and the good interventional radiologist will always order a MRI to make sure they are doing it in the right place. But as he says, it’s not going to work forever. You have to decide if you want surgery or not. But the issue again as he says, you get where you can’t do what you need to do to strengthen and you gain weight, get weaker, and end up with issues. If you start having shocks all way to the toes then you need to get flat and ice on your lower spine until the inflammation goes down as much as you can and then start back walking or moving around as you can. Also you can get in a fetal position to open up the pressure on the nerve. I have had spinal stenosis for 30 years but it’s bad probably now L2-3, was already L5-S1. But have back disc issues from the neck to lower back. My MRI indicated I had, have cyst, first called it a tumor. When I do to much sitting, walking, standing, etc lifting, etc the cyst swells from fluid in it, and then it presses on the nerve. And then I have shocks like someone is sticking a electrical stick - a cattle prod and it goes to the toes and it twists my toes all up. It’s terrible, got to get ice everywhere I can to help the inflammation. My grandmother had it so bad she became incontinent 1 and 2 and just about paralyzed - the doctor said he didn’t know how she had gone as long as she had. Medicare required her to do cage first even though the doctor said she needed to have fusion with rods but insurance is insurance. So she had the first and couple years later back in again but the second surgery she ended up with stroke .. left her as a vegetable with lots of work on hers and our part. Got the rods done and within a 2 years was back to walking and taking care of herself during the day until I got home from work. Got back to dressing herself etc. But then a stupid doctor allowed her to get HA CDiff and didn’t treat her, 13 visits to the hospital, nurses etc kept saying Lots of Sitting, lots of walking, standing will cause the inflammation to get worse.

My friend did 2 cervical disc replacement, he was home right after surgery and after 4 days back to his job , sounds so easy . He shouldn't be working and recovery time was 3 weeks but he needed money.

Can share the approximate cost for the procedure you had done in Europe. Thank you for the information

really great question. Far more important than the gizmos, is your surgeon’s ability to see through the three-dimensional anatomy and understand precisely what can be removed without the destabilizing the spine over time. Ultrasonic scalpels and plasma blades have been around for a good while and they do allow the removal of soft tissue with minimal risk to bone that being said, in many circumstances, hypertrophic bone is, indeed the problem and needs to be sculpted away to allow room within the dynamic canal and its recesses.

​@@wportermcroberts Unbelievable you described my symptoms to a "T", but most physicians catalogized it as a issue with your facet joints. I have only seen one time that spinal stenosis was mentioned. Have undergone numerous ablations in attempt to decrease pain felt especially when walking. If this wasn't bad enough it was discovered that i had a fractured coccyx and underwent a coccygectomy two years ago. A nerve that was near coccyx somehow got entangled with the suture and lays in between my sacrum and my skin, so even sitting has become a painful task if the nerve gets pinched. The majority of doctors recommend either a neurostimulator or fusion. In this video you identify the facet joints when describing some of these implant devices. Does or can facet joint issues cause spinal stenosis? Just odd to come across your video after returning from another disappointing appointment with pain mgmt physician. I truly believe that the majority of these doctors don't understand exactly how painful certain activities are especially when they suggest physical therapy again. It has been 11 year nightmare dealing with doctors that continue to treat symptoms rather than trying to find root cause and attempt to tackle it. In my opinion pain medications should be the last resort when all else fails not the immediate fix all solution. Just my two cents

I know exactly what you are going through, and so sorry to know anyone else has this pain and nothing in the horizon to look forward to. Pain Mgmt doc has helped some with shots, at least it is somewhat relieved for a couple of months. It is worth the pain to get there, and then ask for any kind of pain relief. Prayers for you. Meditate apps help me a lot also.

I too am having no luck with overcoming pain. Not a good way to finish off my life. I cry, I scream and I keep asking God what to do.

@@12221943 hi, I had a laminectomy in January . Five of my vertebrae were affected and my spinal cord was released. Two titanium rods were implanted, held in by ten screws. Thing is I continued feeling intense pains even more severe than before the surgery. After weeks of agony, and repeated testing it was discovered that one of the screws was impinging on my nerve. (This pain is beyond description, I prayed for death but it seems God was not ready for me) everyone in the hospital including my neurosurgeon thought I was going crazy, doses of morphine was given to me without any relief. The surgeon decided to review the surgery . It’s now six months and I’m still in pain and unable to walk independently. I’m told it could take up to a year for the nerves in my legs to regenerate. This surgery is not for the faint of heart. It’s a very slow and painful recovery.

The doctor is ripping off the insurance company and not doing you any good. They forget to tell you that these shots weaken the bones if you get too many. They tried this on me in 2001. They aren’t very effective, at least they weren’t for me.
