Maybe I missed it in this great video, but can one who sees relief from an MBB especially one that includes a steroid simply continue steroid injections for relief assuming they are happy with the length of relief and not progress to an RFA? Is there a risk to this strategy? Thanks for your videos they are very well done.

This is not a bad option. There are of-course consequences to prolonged exposure to steroid in the spine, however, this much be balanced against the risk of reduced activity secondary to spinal pain, and of course MBAs are not themselves without risk. There is minimal data looking at the long term consequences of repeat MBB with steroid, but some patients do rely on them alone as the bulwark of their therapy. Discuss it with your MD. I have one patient who I see every 4 years or so for a MBB. In this instance, it seems clearly like reasonable risk for such a great reward to me.

How do we find a doctor who has the experience and knowledge of placing the epidural with the success you have?!

Ive had epidurals for neck cramps and for numbness in the fingers of my left had, and was very satisfied. Also had steroid injections in my knee. The first doctor's had no effect so he recommended knee replacement. I got a 2nd opinion and his worked, butbhe told me it was only a matter of time before id need knee replacement and he was right.

My wife has a extreme forminal cervical thoracic and lumbar stenosis. EDDD equivalent to someone In their 110's . She is disabled since 21 years old and sadly their is no treatment. The surgery will only prevent her becoming paralyzed but her surgeon says her paon will increase if not increase a good amount. Her only course of treatment it to take pain meds and grin and bare it. She has Ms and Pots, as well she has muscular dystrophy. And several other conditions that her doctors refuse to diagnosed as they said what's the point if putting more tables on you at this point. The bughest challenge for her is getting any new doctor to help her, they see she's on pain pills and immediately focus on the pills and tell her we need to het you off them that why you are in so much pain. She has been on the same dose of pills and I've 17 years with no increase, she has suffered a bad car accident where she was hit rear ended while yielding to turn left, the driver hit her going 75mph and she was stopped. He had no insurance so all we got was a ton of injuries ore pain then ever and $5k from our uninsired motorist claim. Her copay n med cost was over $30 that we couldnt get back. She is a tough person and an amazing mother bit the last 5 uears have been so hard. I wish she could find a pain doctor that would atleast let her use cannabis along with pain meds. She use to get alot more pills and was able to use cannabis and valium. In 2014 the war on pain meds kicked off with doctors telling her her does of opiods and benzos is now fatal and pulled her valium away. She had been taking 40mg a day of valium for Over 17 years but now she was at risk of dieing. She has issues where her veins will just burst and she gets these massive brushes and welts it's really quite strange. Someone if you know anything helpful or can direct us to someone we are in seattle. Sadly nobody wants to help nc she's on ssd. As well she can't het dental and she is a rare anomaly where she can't even get free dental like any low-income resident of Washington, illegal immigrants are getting better medical and dental than her. Her teeth really need help I try tobhelobher but we can't afford it with everything else. I'm paying $900 a month for her medications at the start of the year. Thankfully her suregon is om call for her she is ready he said he will clear hos book n get her in within 48hrs. Roger Härtl, MD is truly the only blessing sadly he is on the other side of the country but if ahe goes with surgery atleast she in the best most capable hands

Anyone heard of doctors doing 4 cervical facet nerve block using just 2 needles. 2 cervicle facets on the left and 2 cervicle facets on the right but only use 1 needle for each side? Past doctors always used 4 needles for 4 facets . This new doctor is only using 2 needles saying it been being done like this for 20 years. Doesnt make sense to weave a needle from one facet to another.

I’m told I can expect 30% relief for cortisol injection in the facets of L4&5. $300. Should I bother? Also I’m told not to do back bend extensions which the Superman seems to do but bird dogs are ok. 80 years old. Lookin for advice.

54 years old. severe Facet hypertrophy. L3 L4, (L4 L5 also with central annular tear), L5 S1 with broad based disc bulge, Degenerative disease/multilevel diffuse disc bulge. Moderate degeneration of T11 T12 , L1 L2, L2 L3. I am being scheduled to have these facet injections. One thing that I heard you mention that does not fit my issues is that sitting helps with no pain. I am not like that at all. If I stand I get pain after short time, if I walk on concrete with my work boots I get pain quickly or at a mall with my good runners on! If I push pelvis forward it hurts or looking upward. My only relief is laying down and keeping inflammation to minimum. If I sit for long I get same lower back pain as standing. I also have mild scoliosis happening. I have hurt my back countless times over my career, I move 700lb tanks by hand for over 10 years. I hope these injections help me! I want to have a decent retirement and not be a crippled old man, I worked too hard to have my golden years taken from me.

Excellent video. Thank you for explanation of facet joints and the different options to help alleviate pain. I’m 45, Canadian and I was in a car accident in November 2014. I was rear ended by a distracted driver. Before the accident I was very active. I loved to dance. Now, I have L5-S1 LEVEL: There is severe disc space narrowing with diffuse disc bulge and endplate osteophyte formation. There is also severe right-sided facet arthritis and mild left-sided facet arthritis. There is right- sided facet hypertrophy and ligamentum flavum hypertrophy. L3-L4 and L4-L5 levels are not as severe, but there is disc desiccation, arthritis and disc bulge. I have just done the steroid injection with success with pain free for 3 months. Now I’m waiting to do the ablation.

Thank you for making this video. I just had L5-S1 fused. We knew I had hyper unstable SI joint I have had injections and they help from the lidocaine. The neurosurgeon said we would wait until March 25 to do my fusion. They have ordered a SI joint injection. I don't know why PRP hasn't been mentioned. I'm going to PT to try to avoid this SI fusion. My last ablation in January didn't help at all this time.

I have been fighting this problem on both sides for over 2 years. I’m scheduled for a fusion in 3 weeks. Your video was by far the best information I’ve received from countless medical specialists. Thank you for taking the time that most doctors do not have in the examination room to cover this topic.

Iam 46. I was diagnosed around 40 with the severe spiinal stenosis. Needing around 4 cages. My spine is mostly bone on bone. DDD, scoleosis (2 curves, different directions), fibro (that is the one diagnosis that doesn't sit well)... i had my first L5S1 discetomy, laminectomy at 18 yrs. And the same surgery again in 2008, also hardware installed in my neck. Which the screw is now broken.. my entire spine has these diagnosis's to some degree. Again, iam 46 years old. I absolutely put on a mask (or multiple masks) each day. So, those that love me don't worry. Also, i have lost 2.25 inches in height within the past 8 or so years. I have a pain level of 8 EVERY day. If iam walk or are in the vertical position for any amount of time. I lose pee and poo on my unders.(lightly rite now)... my hand is numb as i type this.. and the pain has helped me lose sleep tonite and many nites of my life. The anxiety, mental health troubles are the pits. I love my children and am still here for them, only!!

I have significant degeneration in my sacroiliac joints and facets. I have had cortisone injections in each sacroiliac joint. I have previously had to quit my work as a Cook as my mobility is severely paired. I have little to no pain while sitting or lying down. What can I do to improve my quality of life and help me become mobile again. I am 59 year old female and live in Australia??
