This happened to me when my autistic son was Grayson's age. I saw him running down the street and followed to see how long it would take him to realize he was lost, turn around, look for me, anything... I followed him for 15 minutes and 5 blocks and he never realized he was lost. I was heartbroken to know how vulnerable he could be without realizing it. He's a big 31 year old man child now, and I still worry. We never stop worrying about our babies, do we? Bless you, Terra. You're a good mother.

You are a wonderful mama! ❤ This happened to me when my son was almost 4 y.o. we were at a lake and he was gone. I understand your feeling! Luckily someone found him wandering and crying.

Mom I went through this 30 years ago with my son. Many told me how to handle him but autism makes it harder. Today he is amazing.

My son is autistic and non-verbal, he hates bracelets or anklets so I totally get how you feel. That cop clearly doesn’t understand what autism is and what they/we go through. So happy you found him & not hurt!! ❤

A few years ago my baby opened the front door and left the house. Luckily the neighbors where out in their driveway and he went directly to them. They brought him back immediately but to this day I think about how it could’ve easily gone terribly wrong. You’re not alone at all, you’re an amazing mother🧡 .

My brother has autism and he recently did this at his school about 2 years ago and left and took the train to a completely different city! So traumatic I totally feel ya, we immediately got a GPS for him even though he hasn’t done it again but you never know! ❤

My daughter did that to me! Same situation. I was carrying groceries in from the car and I came back out and she was gone! I found her much more quickly than you did Grayson thankfully. But it scared me to death! That same daughter is 45 years old now but I still remember the fear I felt when she was gone. So thankful that you found Grayson and that he was ok. ❤️

We have a connection. My youngest son is autistic. He has walked from the house many a times, I had to call the police to find him. They ( the police) suggested a GPS for him they even had woke me up from a dead sleep saying that found him 2-3 miles away in nothing but his underwear at 1:30 in the morning. Talking about being terrified. It's not easy having a special needs person in your life but oh so wonderful. My son was also non verbal until he started school. Love you sister, it will be alright ❤
