I find it very distracting how Minji changes her pronunciation of words beginning with n and m every other time. 50% of time it’s n or m. 50% of time it’s d or b. N ~ D M ~ B She literally says it one way & then the very next time it’s another way. It’s all good..... good lesson. Very easy to understand. Thanks.

Your lessons are amazing and your English is very good! So I hope you take this correction well. You pronounce the word "pattern" incorrectly. When you say it, it sounds like "parent". Since the word "pattern" is used a lot in discussing Korean grammar, I just thought that correction would be helpful. :)

Thanks so much this really helped but is it OK to omit the subject and particles like Instead of saying 나는 노래를 잘해요 is it OK to say 노래 잘해요? And also I no hate to be 싫어 not 미워 do they both mean hate? If so what is the difference between them? Are they both used in a special way?
@minjiteacheskorean
@minjiteacheskorean 6 жыл бұрын
naila clarke 안녕하세요^^ Thanks for watching :) I think it'll be ambiguous if you omit both of the subject and particles. Because '저는' implies the meaning that it's about you. (는 is the 'topic' particle so the topic has to be about you) And the sentence means (As for me) I'm good at something. So you can only drop the subject and say '노래 잘해요' when someone ask if you're good at singing or not^^ For example "00씨, 노래 잘하세요?" "네, 노래 잘해요" Also dropping the particles only sounds fine in spoken language like 저 노래 잘해요.

And yes, 싫어 and 미워 both mean hate but 미워 is more like 'I don't like it'. Its nuance is kinda cute so usually Korean kids use this word a lot. Also 미워 is used much more when you hate someone, not about things whereas '싫어' can be used about anythings that you hate

Oh actually it's opposite :) 잘하다 is a verb which means to be good at! And 잘 is well so 잘 하다(with space) means to do well !!^^ But thanks for the comment
@LostinColony
@LostinColony 6 жыл бұрын
I think its korean- english translation problem in general.. for example ' I DID something well ' doesnt mean i am good at this thing as always..just for this spesific time i was good at it.. normally im not..lets say we went to karaoke...i sang a song and got 100 points..and asking you how was i? you would probably say 잘했어요! ..well done! very good! but next song i got only 30 points..that means im not good at singing as much as you think xD Ahh I dont know really i confused alot.. But the fact is you are korean and a teacher means you know about korean at least 1000 times better than me...ok i will learn it as you said before then..I taking you words as a fact from now on...and THANKS alot
@minjiteacheskorean
@minjiteacheskorean 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, right. I did something well doesn't mean you're always good at something and it's '잘 했어요' in Korean. You can say that in the situation :) But at some point you're right because Koreans often make mistakes using these two phrases. Anyway 잘하다 is a verb as itself and it means to be good at. That's all :) So that's why I wrote 잘해요 = To be good at. However 잘 해요, here 잘 is a adverb which means 'well' and the verb 하다 is added (it means to do). So 잘 해요 means to do well

@minjiteacheskorean
@minjiteacheskorean 6 жыл бұрын
braian polariz I pronounced the last sound! :) Your tongue stop on the front part of palate when the ㄹ is pronounced as a last sound. (I recommend you to hear these pronunciations as well. They end with the last ㄹ sound! ☞ 물, water / 발, foot) So I think that's why you couldn't hear because it's very different with the "L" sound in English :) ㄹ is somewhere between 'r' and 'l'

You can just replace 잘 with 못. 못 means "can't", so 수영을 못 하다 means "I can't swim" or "I'm bad at swimming". You can be more specific and use 잘 못 하다. So... 수영을 잘 못 하다 means "I can't swim well" or "I'm bad at swimming".

누나 can i not use 걔 in polite sentences?
@minjiteacheskorean
@minjiteacheskorean 6 жыл бұрын
Kevin Chen Yes! When you talk with older person and you talk about someone who is younger than you, then you can use '걔' in polite sentence^^ For example : 오빠, 저는 어제 걔랑 밥 먹었어요 (Oppa, I had a meal with him/her yesterday) So this sentence is formal, it ends with -요, but 걔 is used because he or she is younger than the speakers ^^ However 걔 still sounds very friendly, so I recommend you not to use 걔 when you talk with your professor or elderly people. You have to be very respectful, so you can use 그 친구(literally means that friend) or just their name For example = 어제 그 친구가 학교에 갔다고 하던데요. (I heard that he or she went to the school yesterday)
