Thanks for sharing, going out today to test my new Ulterra 72"/36v for the first time. I have the new GEN4 Helix 10 Mega/SI to interface with motor and the Lake Master Smart-strike Chip software. I also just installed a new Garmin 93SV UHD Live Scope Setup. I Fish by myself most of the time and this entire setup will be a definite game changer on the water. Thanks again for the deploy tips. I love my 80lb ulterra paired with my humminbird solix 10 especially when I want to follow a contour or go back to a specific spot lock

You can change the setting on the remote to auto spot lock when it gets to your waypoint.

You said that the foot pedal does not do way points is that not what the AP switch is for? or do you have to have it linked via I pilot link to on of the Bird units that works with I link system?

I love mine. I have 26ft pontoon and my 112 keeps it absolutely Rocksteady in chop even. 36v and the extra battery offers a lot of extra battery life as well. The humminbird fishfinder pair is amazing as well, mainly the "follow the contour" feature where if you have a map of your lake depths, you can select a depth line and it will drive you along that depth via GPS flawlessly. It's the real deal for trolling with my feet up. I have yet to be brave enough to just use the spotlock to dump off the boat though, I'd be afraid it wouldn't deploy or the wind would take it before I have a chance to deploy.

I’ve the exact same one - I like it .. but it does go into self protect mode more then I care for - gets annoying .. I second guess at times going old school and pulling up my motor again - ha

I have had my ulterra salt water 80 lb with self deploying remote for two years with no issues, until last few weeks, it turned to be so many issues . Such as not deploy nor stoving that forced me to do an emergency stove. Later last week, it could deploy or stove, but shaff just a foot from base and remote said Motor Error. Because of this, I follow procedure of reset by triple click on power button, after this press red and green light are blinking but nothing happen. I am really desperate and disappointed my 25K outcome.

Can you set it to follow a specific heading but set the speed manually? I want to drift down a river slower than the current is moving but I want to keep the bow pointed upstream.

Great presentation. I have been thinking of adding a much needed "trolling" motor to my 18' Hewescraft Sportsman. Currently, I have a 90 horse Honda as the main engine. My struggle is that I see these electric bow mounts like the one in your video seemingly working very well as added maneuverability / steering and trolling options. But I can only afford one purchase. Either a Minn Kota or a 9.9 horse Merc Pro Kicker to troll with. Do you think using a gas powered trolling motor as well to propel and the Kota to steer would be a better option? The water you're in of course, makes a huge difference. Flat and calm or windy and high waves. I fish large lakes and reservoirs in Montana, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. So, my question boils down to a suggestion from you as to what motor setup might be in my best interest? The Minn Kota or the gas powered kicker. They're similar in price by the time you buy batteries. And which range of thrust and motor shaft length would be a good fit for my boat.

Imagine doing that self deploy with say one of the newer Ranger 620 FS or Vexus DVX20 or Skeeter WX2060 90,000 usd boats and forget to turn on the Troll motor before launching.. Can we say time to swim? Looking to either replace my boat hence I know the prices of those aforementioned boats or update upgrade the 2010 WX1900 Skeeter with the Ultera and newer Helix gn4 MSI/MDI units with a 360 mega imaging.

I’ve got the ulterra 112, it’s been A pain in the ass since day 1. You’d think for $3,500 it would work flawlessly.

It was not stowing all the way down every time. I think the head needs to be braced to the boat to keep from vibrating down the shaft. which mine was not.

Do you use the link function often ? Is it worth to upgrade to the link ?

The remote is the only thing i dont like. It wont last all day with out charging. The other remote with the coin style battery last all summer if not 2 with heavy use.

What length shaft did you go with?

Just hit 3 years with my 112. Ran great till this week end. The lift lower auger bracket separated. Had to manually stow and now off for repair due to error codes.

How about 4 years in?

Mine is awful. It's down right now ... AGAIN ... because it burned out ANOTHER plug and I'm waiting to replace the receptical. How many times has this not-ready-for-prime-time, over priced and over hyped junk left me hopelessly mashing on a remote control button without any way to know that it had shut itself down precisely while I'm gliding into a tree stump or a dock piling. Wish I had my money back and Minn Kota had this POS on its shelf of crappy products that don't work.

I wish I could be there the day it won't deploy and he looses his boat.
