One my all time favorites are those mag darters you can steady retrieve or put a little action to it. I snook fish south Florida during the mullet run and all year and fish mag darters just off the rocks in the inlets which works great cause the shape of the head just bounces up off any rocks you contact instead of snagging.

They're great plugs

I watched this video and enjoyed your explanation of the swimmers. Can you talk about your rod and reel setup? Line and leader? I’m primarily a kayak angler, but joined a solid surf casting group and am trying to learn the ways of the sand walkers and rock hoppers. Nice job hanging a 40# off a swimmer!

Truth be told, the minnow in small,size and large size have caught me bass, fluke, and blue fish. One of the cheapest plugs and yet one of the most productive.

As a young guy I used to use the ref head red fin all the time casting the jetties off Long Beach n Atlantic beach. It caught lots of fish but it never casted well. Maybe 150’ max lol. I had a 9’ Hal brown lami with Penn 710 filled with 20# Berkeley big game green. Lol. Boy how things have changed

Amazing how times have changed with the advancements in technology. Also amazing how these plugs have withstood the test of time cause they simply pull fish. Look forward to seeing you at bay park this spring tight lines Joey 🎣💯

Hey Nick, love your videos! Just starting to learn,quick question I fish over by the jetty by Reynolds channel. What would you recommend a minnow or a darter

@surfcastingtheisland4914 Love your videos. I'm new to surfcasting and I'm looking forward to your next video's. I'm going to fish primary on the south side of Long Island. Jones beach inlet, bay and beach. Occasionally the rocky north side. What size minnow plugs, poppers, spooks and swimbaits do you recommend?

Hey man great stuff. Do you ever use the sinking SP? If so how often, in what conditions and in your opinion is the action much different?
@surfcastingtheisland49142 жыл бұрын
I use the sp sinking very rarely,,,usually stick with the floating model. If I really have to cut through the water column, a bucktail or a needlefish is much more effective. I appreciate the support 🙏🏻
