CONJOINED TWINS Callie and Carter Torres are now learning to stand on their own two feet - despite doctors originally giving them just 24 hours to live. The now three-year-olds were born as Omphalo-Ischiopagus twins, attached by their pelvic area and sharing all organs from the belly button down, with just one leg each. Mom, Chelsea Torres, and dad, Nick Torres, have been home-schooling the girls for the last two months, focusing on their physical therapy exercises in order to improve their coordination skills. According to Chelsea, doctors usually give conjoined twins around a five percent chance of being born alive and a two percent chance of being alive past 24 hours - so understandably, both Chelsea and Nick are overjoyed with the girls’ current progress.

Its relative; they won't experience privacy (or the lack of) as we do, so for them it will be their normal, not devastating. In essence, the have nothing to compare it to. Abled bodied people have to stop making their physical make up the standard which they should be judged.

Im so proud of their parents letting them experience hugs sunlight kisses strawberries. They will learn life just like other conjoined separated or not. Many good will also help just like u and me. It great gift to love your children despite imperfections, indeed all of us have imperfections.

For some reason it looks like the one on the right has the entire body and the other one's torso is coming out of her left side. When they are crawling on their back it's so noticeable.

Yeah and I think the one with the torso poping out is actually the (sorry for the word it's really bad) but the 'parasite' in the way that it's her who stayed attached to her sister. The other one seems to have a lot more mobility.

It does look that way but the one that seems to be sticking out the side does have contol of the limbs on the side she is sticking out of.....even though one seems more aligned with the whole body ...she only has control of limbs on her side even though she seems more aligned she only controls one side...the one thats sticking out the side does have control of that leg on her side & the arm of course😊

Honestly, I'm not tryna hate or anything, these two are adorable and their parents did make the moral decision, but if it were up to me I would've went with the separation surgery when they had the chance even if it meant one of them wouldn't make it. I know this sounds horrible but the girls aren't gonna be happy like this forever. They have their own minds, personalities. They'll have separate goals in the future and when they hit college, they'll seriously be affected by this condition due to different interests. They'll have issues with relationships and probably have a hard time making friends on top of everything. Hopefully something more advanced will be available for the twins when they're older if they want a separation.

I applaud this family for not ending this pregnancy as many people would. I just hope that their spines don't cause them pain that I can feel when I see them. Ive had crippling back pain my entire life without the struggles these girls may be facing. G-d bless. The Universe doesn't give us more than we can handle. To the whole family, stay strong.

I believe because they are top heavy it may be harder for them to walk. Their legs seem too small to handle the weight of the heads and torso. The way they are connected is not like other conjoined twins. I hope their quality of life improves. Oh and this is not a hateful comment so don't try to come for me for being honest with my observation. ✌🏽

They are still very young. I think the parents will have to make a further decision. These girls will want to separate. They should prepare for that, and maybe it's best done when they're young? Condemning them to live like that forever is heartbreaking for them. JMO.

I remember these girls! Oh I’m so pleased to hear they’re doing well. They’re growing into such beautiful, independent individuals, I recon they’ll be walking in no time! I do hope we get another update in a years time to see how they’re doing. There’s absolutely no reason that they can’t go on to live as normal a life as possible, just look at Abigail & Brittany, they’re now driving, teaching, they can ride a bike! Conjoined twins are incredibly special & they’ll have a bond that we will never understand. A lot of people say oh I would definitely get my twins separated if they were conjoined but you never know until you have children who are conjoined what you would really decide to do not always is separation the answer,it would be amazing if every pair of conjoined twins could be separated so they can learn and lead independent lives and be healthier but that's a misconception with a lot of conjoined twins that they're not going to be healthy if they stay together sometimes it's other way around,sometimes the risks are just too high of something happening during surgery or after how would a parent possibly make that choice to lose one or both or to continue with them being conjoined and have them remain healthy.?we all love our children and I firmly believe that every parent of conjoined children do their very best by their children and make the choices that are right for them ♥️

I think their mom said they share a lot of internal organs, and they were told when they were babies that separating them was very risky. Sad as their lives seem to us, remaining as they are, I guess we can’t understand from their perspective. I wish them all joy and being a success in life, love, and learning. 🌷💖🌷💖🇦🇺

I love the way the parents designed the clothes for the girls!!!!! Brilliant!!! I cant even imagine - it's a sad scary situation for all. Its one thing as a cute baby or toddler to live this way however I think its cruel,just imagine being trapped attached to someone like that forever.

The kids are sweet and the parents loving but it's still going to be a tough life for these kids. The world is a tough place . I hope they have a very good support group built up. It's the later years that will be a huge challenge. Health issues will be a big and dangerous problem. If they had the opportunity to separate I think i would have taken the risk. I dont think i could be strong enough to raise children like these.But its not for me to say. I hope they can carve out a life for themselves. Other conjoined twins have managed I hope these girls can also. I'm disabled because of someone and it's been a very hard life . Luckily I've had supportive friends and rebuilt my life. So I know how hard life can be when you have a challenge to overcome.

You guys are doing an amazing job!! They are adorable! I was wondering if they had any hearing issues because their ears looked little different. I have different ears as well, mine are very VERY small and I suffer with chronic infections and hearing loss. I’m considered hearing impaired with progressive hearing loss. Your girls for sure got the best momma & daddy ever! You can see that in how happy the girls and your other kiddos are. I can’t wait to see an update in another years time! I bet they will be up and walking all over the place!
