Today it is my honor to give you your advance look at a book 30 years in the making: Miracleman: The Silver Age By Neil Gaiman and Mark Buckingham from Marvel Comics. The book is due out on the Direct Market and Book Market on May 7th. I talk about the history, origins and even some minor spoilers, because it's just too good to not talk about.

I have always loved Mark Buckingham's art, but I think this is the best work he has ever done, just incredible. I really hope they put out this and Golden Age together in an oversized hardcover format of some type.

I love the Miracleman Omnibus but never get the Golden Age trade, I think I'll wait for the second Omnibus!

I remember being so excited for all this when the reprints/ first time prints of unreleased issues was first announced-- and then the cancellations, relistings, different lines, cancelled collected lines, everything just made it too confusing to keep up with. I'll definitely try to read Miracleman again-- when I'm confidant that marvel has finished published the issues they've promised, and when they've collected those issues into one complete line of books

Until The Silver Age issues were completed never even heard of the Black Warpsmiths. I have a sneaking suspicion they will play no small part in The Dark Age. Worth the wait it was for me!

@@Zolerous yes. Reading everything in order? I started with spider-man and then some marvel team-up and fantastic four. After that a lot of stuff started to come up and I wanted to know what was happening in the other ones as well. Yesterday I read first Daredevil

@IcyShades31 Yes, reading almost everything from the Silver Age onwards. I started with FF and now on the 3rd volume. I can't wait to reach the 80's DD :)

@@Zolerous happy to hear there are people like me. As I have seen Omar talk, I found out that a lot of people like that area, or that era, or that comic, etc. For me, I see everything as a whole and even if I can say I like that more than that, everything is like another piece of a puzzle to complete the universe.

Miracle man the golden age (the immediate prequel to this book) is a softcover release, only the original Moore run has a hardcover release

30 years? Ha! try 42 years in my case, I bought the first issue of Warrior Magazine (where Marvelman/Miracleman first appeared) aged 22 whilst I was on Holiday in Scotland, and I was hooked from the start, I never lost faith that one day I'd get to read the conclusion of the story. as it passed from publisher to publisher In the grand tradition of Miracleman, the silver age was much delayed, it took them 16 months to put out 7 issues, So I'm hoping that they are writing/drawing all of the Dark Age before they release the first issue so that there are no delays between issues

Wow that’s awesome. I’m on the other side where I’m only 20 years old and the announcement of this comic has gotten me interested in miracleman, gonna be reading the Alan Moore stuff soon.

@@BennettGeshel-gd5vi I hope you enjoy it, just remember it first started in '82 and it's been ripped off quite a bit since then, so some folk will sometimes say I've seen this before, they forget that this was the OG, most people say that Watchmen is Alan Moore's finest work, but I reckon that this is far better, Oh and if you like this, try Moores work on Captain Britain, you won't be sorry .

Ok thanks for the advice, I haven’t heard much about Captain Britain but everything I’ve read by Moore (Watchmen, Swamp Thing, Superman, Killing Joke) has been awesome, so I’ll have to check that out as well.

Im just reading this TPB now and getting really annoyed. Some pages contine one panel to the next page while other pages you follow the panels down like a normal comic but i cant tell from page to page how to read this....why in the Hell did they do this????????

Are the Marvel watermark, the occasional scroll with the title and ISBN, and the cut to a closeup of a digital page in the book going to be added to all your previews moving forward? I really hope they are not. They are quite distracting. I much prefer you just leafing through the book and giving the pitch.

The watermark is a nice touch but I would prefer it be smaller once he starts flipping through the book.
