Bad Mirror? Broken Mirror? No problem. Today we will find out how easy it is to replace the mirrors on an S500 W220 Mercedes and get that beautiful reflection back. This should work on most Mercedes models of that era. While we replace the original one with an aftermarket unit from eBay (China) we will also replace the seals around the mirror which are also called "Mirror Base Gasket". These gaskets are completely rotted and just look ugly.
Finally a quick lesson on how to properly adjust mirrors in a car. I know, it's hard to change a habit but trust me you'll never go back to the old ways.

Thanks. It was too cumbersome to do it right. This was cheap, worked well and only took a few minutes. Years later, still works and looks great.

I have an o6 w220. Noticed today that the mirror gaskets are oxidizing. Your video show how to do it easily and sensibly. Thanks

Thanks. It was too much work to disassemble everything and do it “properly”. I found this works just as good and requires minimum effort. :)

Yeah I like your idea much better than disassembling Half of the interior I will do this to my S 55.

You’re supposed to take the whole assembly off but I was short cutting. Literally.

I have a 2004 s500, and my passenger side exterior mirror won't open. Is there anything I can do to get it open? Is there a way to manually open it instead of having to take the mirror apart and having to replace the wiring?

I would check if any of the wiring is maybe cut or shorted. Take the cover off and see. These mirrors cables rub when open and closing and over the years it may rub through the insulation.

Checked the fuse. It turns out the whole passenger side has no power. The seat adjustment, windows, seat heater, and mirrors included. They all tie back to one fuse for the dcm, but the fuse is fine.

That’s is weird. I am curious to what would cause that. Have you checked the forum at mbworld.org for any knows issues? Disconnect the battery for about 20 minutes and see if anything comes back alive after reconnecting. I also heard where the wires could short under/behind the fuse box. Check any voltage with a voltmeter at that fuse. I just can’t imaging what that could be because the different items should be on different fuses, and those fuses would impact both sides. :/

Got in the car today and everything magically started working again. Turned off the automatic mirror close so when I get it inspected my mirrors will be open. Thank you for your help

@@hairygarry8324 if the problem comes back and the fuse is okay, it's your passenger side DCM (door control module). Purchase a used one with same model number and it's plug and play

Check the connection. Maybe you knocked something loose or cut into a wire.

@@Turbo_Snail I checked everything connected properly .. I even downloaded the connection from the conversion and connected it as I see .. Connected to the end… but the light will not turn on

eBay from China. They don't fit as snug as the original MB ones but it's also a fraction of the price. Maybe it's because I cut into them and didn't take the whole door apart. Either way, they still look and work like new.
