I am currently a lieutenant in a large metropolitan police department and I created this video to share some common misconceptions about police. From loving to arrest people to being narcissists and bullies...I share my ideas and experiences on several misconceptions about the police.

I’ve always heard the stereotype that police officers eat a lot of doughnuts.

I retired in ‘97 after 30 years, more than one duty related shooting, and none of the misconceptions have changed in all that time. My deadly force encounters were horrific, seeing a fellow cop go down before I was able to stop the suspect w/my own gun. Some of the highly edited KZfaq videos depicting LE engagements are pure BS, yet people believe what they want to believe just the same.

I’m sorry you experienced that…officer involved shootings are incredibly traumatic. I feel like we are getting better with our responses and after care to them but it is life changing for those involved. I hate the negative social media, esp with the editing removing facts 💙
