Great video Ron! If I had a use for the old Bricknose I’d give ya a fair price in cash for it but my F150 doesn’t get worked enough as it is and my wife would probably kick me out to the garage permanently for it! I had a ‘91 bricknose years ago and loved it, hard to beat a 300 straight 6 and a 4 speed manual. It was slow, leaked everywhere, got horrible gas mileage and rode like a lumber wagon but you could depend on it to start right up and move you wherever you needed to go every time. But I decided I needed a ‘99 Super Duty more so off it went to a new owner. You could try pulling the fuel pump off and running it a bit from the remote tank to see if the clatter goes away but it sure seemed like the bellhousing is ground zero for the noise. Very strange…
@misfittoys88839 ай бұрын
Agreed. With how loud it is coming from bellhousing, it would seem thats where problem is. I figured towing a load would make noise worse or even shred the flexplate if that was the cause

It's possible you have the wrong idle mixture screws installed. I've seen it happen with a used carb before. Might be worth ordering a couple of screws.
@misfittoys88839 ай бұрын
A good point but,,,,,,, When I rebuilt the 650AVS, I found that previous owner had broken off the factory idle mixture screws and put in something else. (750 had one broken off in it too!) I called Edelbrock tech line and was told all of their carbs use the same mixture screws, so I ordered a set.
@stevenlatham43979 ай бұрын
At 18:10, the levers on the fuel pump are different; could that be the noise? I don’t like square body’s either, I’d rather have a 67-72, 88-98, or Apaches. I have a soft spot for 87-91 F-250s (87 specifically). My first ever real vehicle (I had a few junky $100-$200 jalopies before) was an ‘87 F-250 Lariat. 6.9 diesel, 4 speed, 4x4. Drove it for my entire high school career which was 60 miles round trip; and to college for 1 year which was 500 miles round trip weekly. Sadly it’s sitting in the exact spot I parked it 18 years ago when I sold it. Trees have broken out the windows, and packrats have demolished the rest. It still had cold A/C and functioning cruise control; along with new batteries, starter, alternator, and glow plugs.
@misfittoys88839 ай бұрын
I dont hate squarebodies. Just dont get all the fuss over them. Kind of suprising how many others feel the same way I am finding. My theory is that they were made for so long that damn near everybody has had one or has had someone close in theiir life that had one. Sentimental attachment moreso than actually feeling they are a well styled vehicle. There are still TONS of bricknoses in my area!
