In the last comic its been clearly made clear that she had several other Teams to stop any attempts on her life or thwarting her plans. There are a few mentions of at least (counting our cast) 4 Teams at the least that we know off. Teams Echelon, Citadel, Vanguard (apparently since the original Heavey says "Team Vanguard for fuck's sake" this means that they must have the best of the best, the most elite mercenaries of all) and Fortress, being our cast the last ressort she had once all others eere wiped out!

@@fildariusv7045 Team Fortress is the name for the team of mercenaries whose only job it is to keep up the facade of a war. Redmond and Blutarch are lead to believe that it's their mercs each and that they try to take the land for each of them, when in reality the Administrator puppeteers them to keep the war an endless stalemate. We don't know her exact motives and purpose of this, but it is related to her trying to accumulate all of the world's Australium deposits. She had hands in hiring the mercs as well as gathering information on them for blackmail purposes. This way they don't talk to anyone about their jobs, to keep up the deception and not leak out what's really going on. This changes with MvM and the deaths of Redmond and Blutarch, who were murdered by Gray Mann. Since the war is over, there's no longer a need to keep up a facade and the mercs are out of their jobs. However, Gray Mann directly threatens Saxton Hale's company, with the secret intention of getting his hands on the Australium which has been hidden in his facilities. The Administrator and Saxton Hale have a common interest to defeat Gray Mann, and she reassigns the mercs to fight off Gray's robot army. So in short, Team Fortress had two purposes: The first was to keep up a secret and presumably hide Australium from Redmond and Blutarch by stalemating a war, and the second was to destroy Gray Mann and his robots.

@@fildariusv7045 The funny thing is that the "Team Fortress" mercs where all considered outcasts, freaks or plain out insane/stupid, that's why the Classic mercs underestimated them and, when the situation started to turn around, the Classic Heavy couldn't understad how they lose to them.

@@sadvec6328 I like that idea, but I think that her gimmick should be that she can pick up any weapon, rather than letting her equip them off the bat. The tradeoff of the class being that you can mix and match weapon slots to make any combo you want, but you're limited to whatever you find to avoid it being too OP.

I love the little line about how the New Mexico department of labor had to intervene with Paulings employees to give her a vacation, because it implies that the New Mexico government, or maybe even the entire US Government, is fully aware and even in support of what is essentially two war profiteering companies that each have entire task forces of contract killers at their Disposal.

During Pauling's assasination attempt, you can hear a gunshot that sounds like a pistol gunshot from Half-Life 2. This would suggest that she's got a hit placed on her by the Combine. The sound effect of her firing back is also used as the sound effect for the unused Half-Life 2 stickybomb launcher.

TF2 needs a series cause man, I could see this becoming gag in a episode where one of the mercs have to call miss Pauling in a emergency but she is some where off doing something else for the administrator or something like that.
