This little girl was sooo lucky!! I wish all the cases like this one have had a happy ending. Thank God this guy had a prior record, they had his fingerprints and that he was stupid enough to leave his fingerprints on the note, and thank God he didn't abuse the little girl. Also, thank God for the Police Officers that did such a fine job! Kudos for all the people that were able to bring the little girl back to her parents.

There's too many laws about who can be said to be missing or left on their own will. The threshold is too high for 98% of cases. So they go unsolved and another state has an unidentified doe. The connections made decades later with dna, if ever. 😢

I mean kids did ride their bikes 50 years ago and quite a few got kidnapped and murdered, too. Times haven't changed really at all: in fact it's actually harder to get away with these types of crimes now a days then it was 50 years ago.

Exactly, nothing has changed other than the Internet. Kids still want to go ride their bikes for goodness sake. It's crazy when people say times have changed, kids can't be kids anymore, keep them with you every second, etc. That's not reality.

Unfortunately there are predators that use churches, and their congregations, to gain trust in order to gain access to their victims. Y’all realize this stuff happened in the past as well right. This is terrible, but this isn’t something new.

Right and heard what the officer also stressed in the kindest way possible to get a point across…that it’s basically a 4 minute bike ride around the loop and for her parents to have waited 15 minutes wasn’t good either next to having let her. Many parents need to learn to say NO a bit more often. Yes, it’s sad times b/c kids SHOULD be able to ride their bikes alone and in peace but FACT is they can’t anymore. Can never get complacent. Our daughter is now 16 and we began taking her camping at 6 months but she never left our sight and when she was old enough to ride her own bike she never was allowed to ride alone, period! Not even at home and when she went to bed, while camping, we went to bed b/c we camped in a pop up camper and didn’t want to leave her alone, even for us to continue to sit around the fire. We loved the whole aspect of camping but never worth the risk of her being alone. Can’t blame her parents for trying to grant her request to go one more time alone but she shouldn’t have been allowed. It’s been a gut wrenching experience, no doubt, and I’m sure a close call lesson learned. I’m sure Charlotte will get the emotional and mental support she’s going to need to deal with the trauma but kids are resilient so hopefully she will get back to just being a kid and live a full and meaningful life moving forward. Parents might need some therapy too b/c the full impact of this might’ve not completely hit them yet. Wishing them all the best moving forward. EDIT: the other commenter said it’s nothing new. No it’s not but it’s just gotten more prevalent and worse. Plus, we hear about things almost right away, globally. due to technology at our finger tips and all modern technology certainly helped, in this case.

If you would have listened to the report you would know the parents did in fact act responsibly.
