This documentary brings you alongside Adventures With Purpose's search for Earnest, following clues about his last known location and information provided by his son Eric as to where he lived, and the possible route he may have been taking where he left almost 2-decades earlier.

I'm from SEark and same sentiment there. Bayous, creeks, reservoirs, rivers, lakes, tributaries, etc. I remember a mother and her kids were lost in a bad storm and weren't found for days until someone finally looked under the overpass. The youngest had only just passed. Stories like these shouldn't happen, ever.

There is always a chance for someone to be in a body of water here in Louisiana. When I first started watching these guys my mind wandered on how many people they would find in a body of water here. There is never a pin point unless it was by car and a reason they would be in a particular spot. Nomatter the situation it is sad that they have to be lost is the water like that. Nomatter what water he may be in they have to be careful because we do have gators everywhere. It was cold that year in its 50s as highs and lows 30s. The sad part is he could be in a area of woods somewhere because woods and water is our body finds. I think the biggest key factor is who was the friend he was suppose to be going visit that night and why so late at night.

I lived in Shreveport for about a decade until 2001. I've been back a couple of times since to visit friends, and I wanted to mention that there was a lot of road construction being done around 2003 (some of it was over water too). The foliage around the river was also not as thick in some places as it is now. I, for one, used to drive my car up a bank almost right up to the river just to hang out when I lived there, but you can't get anywhere near the bank in the same area now because it's too overgrown. It looks like you covered some of the area of Cross Lake where there was a lot of road construction going on at the time, so that's good. Just keep in mind that the area around the bodies of water in that area was very very different in 2003. There were many entry points into the water back then that no longer exist now. I'm sorry - I didn't know him personally and I don't know if this information is at all helpful. If anything, maybe it widens the scope. But, I still felt compelled to mention it. I wish the son & the rest of the family the best possible outcome.

I hope he finds his father. I get this weird feeling that there was an accident from what little bit is known. Why would he plan to cook dinner for his family and spend time with them, but commit suicide? Doesn't make sense to me. Most suicidal folks don't make plans for anything in the future because they know they won't be there for it. If he was out driving later at night, anything is possible on dark roads. There's definitely a missing x factor. I don't think cell phone pings were a huge thing back in 03, but I could be wrong. I wonder if the friend would know if he showed up, if he could find out who his dad's friend is, I think it would give more clues.
@mustangsally00gt
@mustangsally00gt 2 жыл бұрын
Well that's the thing about depression you can be fine one day and totally in the hole the next. It's very normal for people with suicide ideations to make plans, I know I came close a couple of times in my own struggle. Mental health is just so important and there's so much negative stigmas around it and a lot of people don't talk about it in fear of showing weakness. Hopefully, we get closer everyday to lessen that shame and make it a normal conversation to have without judgement. I pray he finds his dad and these guys are amazing and deserve more attention for their kindness.

@@davidwoermansr, you are not in touch with your family and now I read that you have problems with mental health. I pray that you get counseling and truly open up and accept the help. I could never attempt suicide. First for fear of it not being successful and having to live the remainer of my life as a quadriplegic because of my stupidity. Secondly because I think it would prevent my going to heaven because of the commandment, "Thou shall not kill". I am so thankful that you came through your suicide attempt. You have much to live for. Just look around and you will see that there are so many less fortunate than you. When you feel yourself getting down you can volunteer to help others and that will lift you up. @@pattishumateanderson4633 do you really think your comment was necessary? Stupidity? You could never? You have clearly never struggled with mental health and others being less fortunate than you has nothing to do with it. When you struggle with mental health it doesn’t matter what you do and don’t have and your suggestion to volunteer won’t solve the problem, that’s a distraction not a solution. I had something else jump out at me. Chaos Divers worked a case of a White car in a waterway that was on Google Earth. They went and looked, the car had been removed, but it was a white Caddy. Doug or Jared i am from Shreveport,Louisiana and currently live in Shreveport, the one thing i noticed that was not mention is several years ago Shreveport experienced a major flood multiple times where the red river rose and flooded all the areas yall looked and was like that for several weeks, we even made national news on the flooding, i also can think of others of body of waters that run along Old Mooringsport Rd that i know as a kid i use to go fishing at and with Mr Franklin working at the UOP plant i would not discredit Mooringsport,La and Caddo Lake as Mooringsport ,La is not that far from the UOP plant, i will also send this comment to your email, with my contact info.

Another dimension could be added is the vehicle the person was in, was it financed at the time? Was the vehicle insured? What is the vehicle insured beyond liability in other words comprehensive insurance. If you did have comprehensive when was it instituted. That seems like an awful expensive car for someone to give up. If he did go in the water the car would be absolutely worthless so insurance would be important for the family etc. It’s just one more Avenue to think about and to explore.

According to records online, there was no bad weather Dec 27, 2003, but there was 1.58” of rain Dec. 28, 2003. Not sure if that was during the day/evening, or closer to midnight between the 27th and 28th. I wonder if Eric has asked police to request cell phone data from his dad’s cell provider? I hope he does ask if he hasn’t. I also wonder if it can be determined who he was going to meet. Unfortunately, a set-up or foul play isn’t out of the question. Someone could have killed him and gotten rid of his car - which is why neither have been found. Eric seems like such a sweet guy; I hope he finds the answers he’s looking for.

@southernmama4084

That was my thought. This was pre Katrina so I'm wondering if that storm could have moved it. Also, how much silt got pushed on top of it if it was in water. Also, if it was on dry land, he could have gone down an embankment and be up in the trees somewhere.

I always worry with these cases that if the person really wants to commit Suicide they don’t want to be found by family, maybe they drove further than anyone would ever think so I would ask people towns further out use their radar and look in the water where you live! See if you can find something!!! What if it were your loved one you’d want every piece of help you could get no matter how random or illogical it may be!!!
@robb2055
@robb2055 2 жыл бұрын
I was thinking that too. There are so many possibilities. Did he ever live in another town or area he might have felt more comfortable commiting suicide in if that was the case. Did the friend live 20 or 30 miles away or in another town? If so could he have had an accident while traveling to or from there?

Thank you for all your hard work. Hopefully the gentleman can be located soon. Because of when he disappeared, late December, I would definitely take another look at what the weather was in the area. I don't know if there might be snow or ice in Louisiana since it's warm there. But maybe there were winter rains. We have seen other cases earlier where people have skidded off straight roads or bridges, just because of rain. Just a thought.
