You really have to give credit to how insane Tom Cruise gets when doing crazy stunts like the cliff jump. That alone may get me to catch up on the rest of the films and see this one in theaters

@@MartinBlackstarGomezou're right that man worked with great stars like Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman and Paul Newman and also filmmakers like Steven Spielberg and Stanley Kubrick that's why he has the passion to do great movies in quality and I wish to see him working with Christopher Nolan or Martin Scorsese again after Color of the money or even James Cameron. Imagine what Tom Cruise would do with James Cameron if they worked and how much they could get at the box office.

Personally my favorite mission impossible is fallout. That bathroom fight scene with Tom cruise and Henry Civil is insane. Ghost protocol is a close second. That tom cruise scene with him climbing the building sick. And Jeremy Renner alongside him in that movie was great. I wish they kept him around but unfortunately because of that incident that won't happen.😢

MI:3 is still my favorite. Phillip Seymour Hoffman is just so badass as the villain. Tom Cruise gives his most emotional performance in that film.

Fallout is an example of a perfect complete story. Dead reckoning was awesome fun as usual, but I hope after the dead reckoning parts, we start getting complete films for the franchise return.

I might be biased as a John Woo fan, I thought MI 2 was groundbreaking & there was no way it could be topped. But 3 really surprised with how incredible it was! Seymour was an outstanding villain.

I think Rogue Nation is the best movie in the franchise. They introduced ilsa Faust, the greatest female character ive seen in a long time. They also introduced a great villain in Solomon Lane. I dont understand this obsession with Fallout. And i never understood the hatred for MI2. I was there in 2000 to watch MI2 in the theater. It was very special.

I've been to the theater for every one going back to the first in '96 as a 12yr old kid. It is my favorite franchise and there's just an excitement and good feeling i get every time I go watch these films on the big screen

This is the first MI movie since the second one, that I could not wait to be over so I can go home. The villain is so underwhelming and the stakes just don't feel high compared to previous movies. Making AI the villain was a lazy choice. Take out the AI or at least make it dormant rather than actively meddling with Ethan Hunt, and Gabriel would have become such a great and menacing villain who is on a mission to activate a dormant AI. The tone of the previous movie did not carry over, there is no weight to the decisions. They completely botched it, I am surprised it is getting high ratings, 7 out of 10 at most. Ohh, and I found that people in my theater were laughing too much, like this was a comedy, and then in places with actual humor they were completely silent. Maybe it was too clever for them, or my sense of humor changed in the last 24 hours. Maybe the second part will help make the first movie better. And damn, but almost a 3 hour movie? WTF Tom! Overall good stand-alone movie, but bad MI movie. Maybe my expectations were just too damn high since the prior movie kept increasing the bar, this one unfortunately dropped it.

THANK YOU. I thought I was going mad. There's a lot of reviewers on KZfaq that have an axe to grind with Lucasfilm that they are artificially bumping this movie up. I love the previous instalments (3-6) of this franchise, but the new movie was tonally off, overly long, ponderous at times (so much exposition) and the comedy was like nails on a chalkboard. How on Earth did they go so far off here?? The car chase, without music and full of Marvel humour, and an anime chick villain was the real low point. The next movie is going to have to do some serious work to justify this entry

I have more... I went into this with hopeful expectations coming off the back of 3 tremendously good, smart action films filled with trickery and invention. This film seemed to throw most of that out in favour of goofy comedy and a 'run and gun' laziness. That stuff should always be considered the last resort in a spy film. Hopefully this is just the set up before the payoff in the final film. An hour could have easily been trimmed from this film as most exposition scenes went on forever, case in point being the opening meeting between the Intelligence chiefs. It was about 10 minutes long but could have been reduced to 2-3 minutes without any loss whatsoever. Don't make a 2 parter if you don't have enough material to fill it up. Longer doesn't always mean better, nor does it make it more epic. The thief character slipped away from Ethan 3 times... that's 2 times too many just to extend the plot. The only particularly strong part of this film was the AI trickery screwing up their missions - something I think could have been executed better but the idea was good. I felt the main villain was ridiculous. We're they deliberately playing him like we were to suspect he might be an android or something? The idea he was linked to Ethan's past was out of nowhere. The film would arguably been better without him or the anime girl and just stuck to rival governments. The next film needs to give Gabriel some understandable motive and explanation why the AI chose him and why he knows so much or is even involved at all.

it was a fun movie, but it felt like 'just another M:I' movie, nothing different about it. Tbh (no spoilers), but the train scene bothered me so much. Not to mention the build up and the hype towards that bike-cliff-jump in its marketing, I was expecting something more from it in the actual movie.

Planning on seeing it 3 times in a row on Thu on the IMAX with my butter popcorn and cherry coke [ unlimited free refills ] I can say 1 huge thing is missing from this 1 [ no surprise at all, wonder if it will be a huge disappointment ]
