Minnie's version is so sweet and chill. She wrote the song with her husband and they seemed so so in love. She doesn't go all crazy and doesn't applaud herself for it. She just goes on singing the rest of the song. Best hands down.

If l had to choose, l would say Shanice Wilson was the best out of all, but she isn't better than Minnie. In my opinion, Minnie is still the best and will forever be.

@@NgocAnh-ch2vr it's actually kinda complicated but let me explain it in simpler terms if it's OK hahaha. Head voice is usually a tone produced by the head or the pressure is something felt on the head. It's not as airy as a falsetto. As a whistle note uses more air so it's like a very high falsetto. That's nit the exact explanation but that's how I can out it on simpler terms. Whistle tones are mostly high notes at least a5 and an example ie Mariah Carey's signature style 🙂

@@aquilshangout214 whistle actually like a vocal cracks that you can control. LOL whistle doesnt need more air. Infact you have to really close your vocal chords that almost no air can pass through. You just have to make it flap 1 side of your vocal chords to produce a sound

Just one of those lucky men that can reach up there. The note is an F#6, yeah? That’s incredible. The highest I can do, as a male as well, is an E6 and I have problems trying to hit it sometimes. Seeing him be able to do it with ease is amazing.

The only true whistle notes in here are Minnie, Georgia, Chantle, and Adam. A few of them got really close or started out in a whistle and then switched to falsetto but all of the are really nice.

@@justinmaryland1081 i’m a singer and i can tell you for a fact only 2 vocalists in the entire compilation were not using a head voice and it’s because they obviously have a really wide range and have been very strictly vocally trained. it’s extremely difficult to belt out notes that high at some point you have to go into your head voice, not even necessarily because it’s easier but it just sounds better

Minnie. Period. The polish and control she has over her voice is several heads above everyone else. You can't even hear her switching registers her vocal tone is so well placed from top to bottom. Her classical training really pays off in this song.

All yaw needs to put respek on Shanice's name. They showed her in her late 40s to 50s, so her singing style has changed somewhat. But she did the song maaad justice when she sang it back in 1992 on one of her albums when she was 19 years old. As much as I love all of the covers, they can’t just replicate the romance Minnie exuded whenever she performed this song. This song is about being so madly in love and having butterflies in your belly, yet being sensual. I feel like most singers who sing this forget about the meaning of the verses and focus too much on the whistle part. But they are all great vocalists!❤️

Fun fact: Duong Hoang Yen is actually the voice of Elsa in Frozen, and you'd be surprised to hear her voice there for it sounds very guttery and deep, almost like a contralto!

I don’t get it, I’ve always wonder how Mariah just jump into whistle but never does any soprano showing like disco stars would. Yodeling is controlled rapid swapping between chest and head. It's super difficult to do. That was just unsupported and out her range lol

for me alot of them sounded to rushed, just trying to reach the whistle part, without putting enough soul and effort into capturing the dreaminess and floatingness of the parts leading up to it. My favourite will always be the original.

I know everyone's talking about the chick at 3:24 -(and rightfully so, that was... something)- But I'm sorry, the two girls at 0:43 were just as off and all over the place, especially/mainly the second girl who absolutely refuses to hold a note for more than a millisecond and just jumped all over the scale with extra runs for no real reason
