111 Years Old Tutti Frutti Juice Press - Full Restoration | Mister Patina
In this Video i‘m restoring an old Juice Press, it was sent to me by a Random mysterious Subscriber ;-) It worked very well, but had some bad noises when using, and the wooden handle didnt spin anymore. Time to restore this beauty!
I started with sandblasting, then i started the rough metal works by using a wirebrush and building a new bolt for the handle. The final step was the paintjob, including a special paint named "Kelterlack", which is fruit acid resistant, to give the press a nice look.
If you have any questions or suggestions, you can write an email, i try to answer asap.

Hey guys, I wanted to say thank you for all of your support! That gives me a lot of energy and motivation! If theres anything you got for me (critic, hints and tips, lovely words, tools to restore or just a nice comment) feel free to leave it in the comment section or contact me by email! PS: The white color in the video is a fruit acid resistant color! Its used by wine farmers and other companies which deal with fruit acids! I know a tin plating would have been the better way to plate it, but i didnt have the possibilities to do that.

Hey man! Greetings from Arizona, US. Been craving someone who has the videography skills you do for restoration vids. Your work is a breath of fresh air sir! Would you be willing to share info about your filming equipment/ strategy?? Let me know Ill find your email and contact you there PS: I noticed the white coat sealed some of the screen holes. Not sure you'd ever really use it to juice but thought it might be worth pointing out. Keep going man Ill watch every video!

Electrolysis plating can be done at home but it is definitely something you would want to practice on some scraps before using for a real project. I also think cast is more difficult than regular steel. The plating fluids may be expensive, not sure how expensive. It's something I definitely want to try someday though.

Hey 06802300! Sorry for late response! The color i used in the video was a fruit acid resistant color. The best way of plating would have been a tin plating, but i wasnt able to do that...i thought about nickel, but wasnt really sure of food compatibility.

Hi Mister Patina, GREAT WORK in general. I have 2 recommendations : 1) To paint the leatters of the devices you restore in this case "MINIMA TUTTI FRUTTI D.R.G.M. 1909" it's nice to see those letters in a different colour. 2) To add the use of the device once be restored and see how it works Thanks for reading this... all the best,

Good job overall, but you can't use it painted like that...you'll have paint in your juice . Better to clean and paint the outside and leave the inside bare and wipe it with a natural oil to maintain it . Not sure why the need to trash the original handle pin. Press or tap it out, straighten it, and and reuse it.
@misterpatina
@misterpatina 3 жыл бұрын
Chris, thanks for your comment! I had several options/ideas for doing the inside. But the, for me as a hobbyrestorer, easiest way was to use this paint. As mentioned in the description and video, it’s a special fruit acid resistant paint. It’s called „Kelterlack“ and it’s used by wine farmers in several ways. I also had the option of an natural oil, but I think this would have caused a fake taste. Last option would have been a tin plating, but I don’t have the possibility to do that. I hope you understand why I chose this way. And I hope that you enjoyed it anyways :-)

Mister Patina...I greatly enjoyed watching the restoration, and thought over all you did a great job ! I'm subscribed as well...to see more of your work . The paint being fruit acid safe is a great idea , my concern was with the moving parts . Metal on metal contact will wear the paint , and seeds may also be able to wear it if they're hard enough . They have to make something that you could put on a tool like that to keep it rust free...even if you have to wash it before use...

Insides were most probably tin plated originally as was the practice in the old days and still is for all the copper kitchenware, not an easy task to carry out for first timers but can be done since tin melts at very low temps compared to some other metals so it could be done with a blowtorch, heat resistant gloves and ball of newspaper to spread the molten tin on the surface evenly. If not, I would have left it bare metal, maybe a satin clear coat to serve as anti-corrosion and that's it in which case you couldn't use it as an actual juicer. Yet it was a bad idea to paint it white, food resistant or not, to me you destroyed "ye olde beauty". Oh, the shade of blue should've been "azzurri" btw.🤨🤔😊

Is all that paint safe for human use? And whether the interior could somehow avoid being painted and if so, what could have replaced that paint to prevent corrosion without endangering human health? Otherwise in my opinion you are the best in the business on YT since I can't say that you are a restaurateur because probably none of you have finished high school for that!!! Or maybe I'm mistaken? Hello from Serbia!!! 🇷🇸

Looks like several layers of non-food-safe paint followed by a layer of food safe paint on the inside, but not on the vents where the juice comes out. Someone using this is going to wear through the food-safe paint and have their juice dissolve some of the non-food-safe paint. This would be a beautiful piece to keep in your juice or smoothie store, but shouldn't be used. I think this is a good example of an early restoration. Everything I've seen recently from this channel makes sure food-safe materials are used exclusively.

The screw, i believe, and the interior which contacts food, should be plated in tin or nickel, rather than painted. Probably tin as most safe and hypoallergenic. Tin has a VERY low melting point and is often done simply by melting and spreading "food safe" tin solder over a surface.

Чтобы легче крутить нужно шнек смазывать солидолом. Заодно сохранишь шнек от действий фруктовых кислот.
